Crown Princess Mary of Denmark In Jesper Høvring – New Year’s Banquet

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon features Crown Princess Mary of Denmark In Jesper Høvring - New Year's Banquet At Christian VII's Palace

The Danish royal family rang in the New Year in style, with Queen Margrethe II throwing a lavish party at Christian VII’s Palace, Amalienborg in Copenhagen, Denmark, on Tuesday (January 1) with Crown Princess Mary starring as the belle of the ball.

Marking the occasion with a local designer, the royal stunned wearing a Jesper Høvring gown embroidered with delicate leaf patterns in autumnal colours of plum, grey and mustard, which she paired with a glittering Edwardian tiara.

Princess Mary tends to go for a more understated look, so I’m really enjoying this uber glamorous outing.

She was dressed in full regalia, sporting the Order of the Elephant – a Danish order of chivalry that dates back to the 1400s and is considered Denmark’s highest-ranked honour. It is used exclusively by royalty and heads of states.

Sometimes these ‘Orders’ can get in the way of a perfectly good look, but on this occasion it looks like it could’ve been part of her gown.

Always looks elegantly regal. This dress is unusual and very beautiful for this formal event.

I was going to write that I found the gown “okay” but then I realized it took me forever to notice she was standing right next to her husband who is lit up like a Christmas tree. So, I guess it is a good gown.

Princeew Mary is my favourite royal in terms of style, but this feels a little aging on her.

Nitpicking over the skirt, belt and zip, but overall this is better than what meets the eye.

I liked it until I saw the back zipper.

Wow! Regal in every sense. She looks like a Queen, this recalls to mind royal dressing from every period drama I’ve seen. I love it.

Between the embroidery, the tiara, the jewelry and the order, this look definitely screams opulence. It’s just not my cup of tea. I prefer Letizia’s esthetics at banquets.
