Yara Shahidi’s style continues to leave me in awe. The ‘Grown-ish’ star blew me away at the 2018 NAACP Image Awards on Monday (January 15) in Pasadena, California.
Marrying a trapunto bustier and sheer panels to a dramatic floor-length tiered skirt, this Vera Wang Spring 2018 gown makes a bold statement that boasts gothic finesse in an uber cool manner.
I love how the high neck keeps this look modest and refined, and how the embellished, high trio-braided ponytail adds some cultural significance.

This is a little bit different for her, but dang it, she pulls it off. Incredible girl.
The dress isn’t that nice. I find it a bit of a mess. Sloppy looking dress.
With this high neckline I would have preferred a braided bun. As always she’s pulling it off with great poise, but the design itself isn’t one of my favorites.
I agree with you. I’m not sure she can save this one with her presence.
I don’t like the design of the gown, it looks cheap and amateurish to me.
She looks good, I love the hair, but I personally find the dress to severe for her. That is something she can wear in 20 years.
+1
I love this look so much. The dress, the hair… It reminds me of Lisa Bonet in the early nineties and I mean that as a compliment. It has the same cool girl vibe.
Minor criticisms: 1. the fit in the bust area could have been better 2. the arm embellishments should have been fixed imo.

FLAWLESS!
She’s beautiful as always – I adore her hair. But the fit of the bustier looks too low and I don’t like the sheer panel.
+1 plus are those pockets at her waist? they look weird.
