Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Lupita Nyong'o In Gucci - 2014 SAG Awards

Lupita Nyong’o continued her impressive style streak at the 2014 SAG Awards on Saturday (January 18) at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California.

With every look seemingly better than the next, the ’12 Years a Slave’ star completely blew me away in a one-of-a-kind Gucci stunner with a subtle train, which thankfully received even more stage time, given her outstanding supporting actress win.

Not only was the turquoise colour completely earth-shattering, the silk crepe column gown’s gold-and-turquoise, floral-embroidered straps were absolute artistry.

On the red carpet, Lupita said she fell in love with the flowers and the nature aspect of the design—and rightfully so.

The perfection continued with delicate Fred Leighton jewels that complemented, rather than cluttered, the dress, along with a gorgeous makeup look that included striking teal and pink eye shadow and a magenta lip.

Were you as enamoured with this entrance as I?

Claire Danes In Vionnet - 2014 SAG Awards

Claire Danes took an elegant walk down the red carpet of the 2014 SAG Awards in Los Angeles this evening (January 18).

The ‘Homeland’ star and nominee wore a stunning crêpe-de-chine mermaid dress with inlaid panels and blue paillette embroidery on tulle from the Vionnet VIP collection.

With such a true work-of-art as a gown, the accents were ever-so-important for Claire, and her Jimmy Choo ‘Lance’ sandals and simple Forevermark Diamonds jewelry were ideal.

Dramatic, blue smokey eyes, berry lips and plenty of volume in her hair finished the look.

Some may argue that she should have pulled her hair up, but I love what Claire is doing here from head to toe.

Amy Adams In Antonio Berardi - 2014 SAG Awards

Amy Adams continues to have a strong showing this awards season at the Shrine Auditorium on Saturday (January 18) in Los Angeles for the 2014 SAG Awards.

The ‘American Hustle’ actress sported a blue Antonio Berardi dress with an embellished crystal waistline and accessorized with a Ferragamo clutch and Jimmy Choo ‘Vibe’ platform sandals.

Blue is an outstanding color with Amy’s coloring and this dress was an absolute stunner thanks to its architectural neckline and shoulder cutout. The great fit, waist detail and sexy slit didn’t hurt either.

The sculptural faux bob is good on its own but Amy amps it up with a coral lip and green earrings.

I wouldn’t change a thing. Best dressed nominee.

Meryl Streep In Stella McCartney - 2014 SAG Awards

Meryl Streep joined the star-studded list at the 2014 SAG Awards, hosted Saturday night (January 18) at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California.

The outstanding leading role nominee for ‘August: Osage County’ wore a Stella McCartney Fall 2013 black, off-the-shoulder dress with contrasting, sheer linear design.

As usual, she failed to really impress on the red carpet. While this trend-forward look had a cool breeziness, I was missing the elegance here that Meryl would wear so well. The frock was ultimately compromised by a lack of structure and a too-casual vibe for the spirit of the Screen Actors Guild evening.

Black peep-toe heels, a satin Christian Louboutin ‘Plitz’ clutch and gold cuffs and earrings did nothing to remedy the situation.

Sandra Bullock In Lanvin – 2014 SAG Awards

Sandra Bullock continued through her big award season at the 2014 SAG Awards in Los Angeles tonight (January 18).

The nominee and ‘Gravity’ star wore an emerald green Lanvin gown inspired by the designer’s Pre-Fall 2014 collection.

She paired the gown with silver Jimmy Choo ‘Valetta’ sandals, a metallic Roger Vivier ‘Boite de Nuit’ clutch and a simple gold bangle.

While the colour is perfection, I am so not feeling this gown. The fabric feels heavy, and the shape is doing very little for Sandra’s enviable figure.

A messy updo, bold smokey eyes and pink lips complete the look.

Or you with me on this, or do you love Sandra’s look?

Julie Bowen In Carolina Herrera - 2014 SAG Awards

Julie Bowen mixed it up on the red carpet Saturday evening (January 18) in Los Angeles at the 2014 SAG Awards.

The ‘Modern Family’ actress, who isn’t known for being sartorially adventurous, made one of her boldest choices to date in a dress from Carolina Herrera Spring 2014 and dramatic drop earrings. She finished the look off with a Rauwolf clutch and Jerome C. Rousseau shoes.

The burnt orange, brown and white dress featured a color-blocked bodice and graphic skirt. Everything about the dress from the color combination to the graphic is unusual yet it somehow all works.

A Brigitte Bardot-inspired ponytail was another fashion-forward choice executed to perfection.

It’s exciting to see Julie having fun with fashion and even more exciting to see her pull it off.
