Zhang Ziyi In Christian Dior Couture - 'The Grandmaster' Berlinale Film Festival PremiereZhang Ziyi waltzed her way down the red carpet on Thursday night for the premiere of ‘The Grandmaster’ during the 63rd Berlinale International Film Festival in Berlin, Germany.

For her gown, the Chinese actress looked back a few seasons to designer Raf Simons’ Christian Dior Fall 2012 Couture collection.

I can’t help but love the glamour of this ‘New Look’-inspired silhouette, what with its cinched bodice and classic full skirt. The dress’s painterly tie-dye effect in shades of grassy green and lime only increased the drama and made this look particularly electric.

But with the addition of the fur shrug, a diamond necklace and earrings, and a Fendi handbag, not to mention those towering Christian Louboutin pumps, I found myself experiencing sensory overload.

The dress and its statement print speaks for itself without the clutter (beautiful clutter as it were) of the abundant accessories.

At least Zhang slicked her hair into a chic updo and opted for a soft pink pout instead of the runway’s neon hues. Anything else would have been far too much.

If you’re having a slight déjà vu moment as I did, it’s because Jennifer Lawrence wore a very similar gown from Dior’s Fall 2012 offering last September, except in a different, inky colour variation.

Salma Hayek attended the photocall for her new movie, ‘La Chispa de la Vida’, on Wednesday during the Berlinale Film Festival in Germany.

We weren’t impressed with her premiere look, but she fairs much better wearing Azzedine Alaia.

The navy long-sleeve suede dress with a full, flared skirt was styled with black tights, black Sergio Rossi pumps and silver jewellery.

Her look was completed with wavy ombre locks and a copper lip colour.

Michelle Williams attended a photocall for ‘My Week With Marilyn Monroe’ during the Berlinale Film Festival on Friday.

The actress opted for a cutesy look, wearing a Kenzo black-and-white wavey-striped dress with a blue-and-green tassel detail on the shoulders.

Her 60s mod look was teamed with Chanel toe-cap pumps, barely-there makeup and no jewelry.

The only pop of colour came via her red nails.

Simple and chic or tres dull?

Salma Hayek attended the Berlinale Film Festival premiere for ‘La Chispa de la Vida’ in Germany last night.

The actress wore a YSL Edition Soir 2012 gown.

Her black lace and mousseline embroidered gown is a huge departure from what we’re used to seeing from Salma.

Whilst I appreciate the direction, the end result is matronly as she’s aged about 20 years.

A black velvet YSL minaudiere, Boucheron emerald jewels and a simple bun completed her look.

The Christian Dior Spring 2011 Couture collection had its second outing this week courtesy of Asian actress Ni Ni.

She hit the red carpet during the 2012 Berlinale Film Festival for ‘The Flowers of War’ premiere wearing a strapless Dior Couture blue-and-black gown accented with feathers and a rise-and-fall skirt which falls from the empire waist.

The gown looks stunning on the runway, but kinda lacklustre on Nini, as she doesn’t have enough presence to carry that layered skirt.

French actress Lea Seydoux is still in Germany where she attended the ‘L’Enfant d’En Haut’ premiere during the 2012 Berlinale Film Festival on Tuesday evening.

My best dressed of last week puts herself back in contention again this week wearing an Elie Saab Fall 2011 gown.

Her black wool gown with pleated lace detailing was styled with gold accessories including a clutch and a large cocktail ring.

Poker-straight hair, which she swept behind her ears, and barely-there makeup completed her look.

BDOTW contender?
