Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Previously, Janet Jackson has failed to pull off Haider Ackermann, but tonight at the 2011 amfAR’s Cinema Against AIDS Gala she gets a pass.

The singer’s Haider Ackermann ensemble incorporates the teal and purple colours from the Fall 2011 collection.

I’m glad she didn’t opt for anything too complicated because she’s doesn’t always carry them so well with her petite frame.

Her colour-block look is accented with a blue ribbon around the waist.

Do you think she got is right on this occasion?

This is my favourite look so far at the 2011 amfAR’s Cinema Against AIDS Gala during the 2011 Cannes Film Festival this evening.

Gwen Stefani really disappointed me with her first Cannes look, but this self-designed custom L.A.M.B. gown more than makes up for it.

Her black halter mermaid gown is simply breath-taking.

What I admire the most is the way she’s working the gown with a capital W.

I’m guessing she’s no longer channeling her trademark red lippie, as on this occasion she opted for a gold colour to match her waistband.

A Roger Vivier ‘Miss Viv Punk’ clutch completed her look.

Naomi Campbell looked amazing on the red carpet at the 2011 amfAR’s Cinema Against AIDS Gala during the 2011 Cannes Film Festival this evening.

Usually she takes us on a rollercoaster ride of good and bad fashion choices during Cannes, but she’s been very consistent this year.

The supermodel opted for a nude fringed gown from the Givenchy Fall 2010 Couture collection.

Her gown has an embroidered panel which isn’t as lined as the version presented on the model, plus Naomi’s gown has shorter sleeves.

I was relieved that it wasn’t one of the samey pieces we’ve seen on Liv Tyler, Beyonce Knowles and Carine Roitfeld.

I’m glad she explored other pieces from the Givenchy Couture collection.

Brooke Shields on the other hand was dressed appropriately for the 2011 amfAR’s Cinema Against AIDS Gala during the 2011 Cannes Film Festival this evening.

The beautiful actress opted for a Marchesa Spring 2011 asymmetrical draped gown.

Her Grecian white satin gown with embellishments on the shoulder and waist was styled with white peep-toes, a white clutch and a wavy updo.

Brooke is always radiant on the red carpet.

Freida Pinto shunned the formal gown dress code and opted for something funkier at the 2011 amfAR’s Cinema Against AIDS Gala during the 2011 Cannes Film Festival this evening.

Whilst I’m slightly disappointed Freida Pinto didn’t wear a pretty gown, but I do like that she was bold enough to wear this Lanvin Fall 2010 lurex mini dress.

To have made me love this dress Freida would’ve needed to pull the belt down an inch or two, worn some sexy Nicholas Kirkwood heels, pulled her hair back into a tight ponytail and been on the red carpet at the MTV Movie Awards.

Michelle Rodriguez wowed me at the 2011 amfAR’s Cinema Against AIDS Gala during 2011 Cannes Film Festival this evening.

I make that twice in one year.

The actress seems to be taking the red carpet more seriously these days, which was perfectly showcased by her wearing this Jean Fares Couture gown tonight.

I love the pretty pink colour on her. I don’t think she’s ever worn anything this delicate.

The open back dress looks to be paying an homage to Celine Dion’s Oscar tuxedo don’t you think?

As well as having embellished pockets, the gown also has embellishments cascading down the back.

I have to say I love this effort from her, despite the gown being too long at the front.
