Chloé Fall 2012

Despite this being a Fall 2012 collection, Clare Waight Keller presented a lot of pastel hues to keep us looking effortless and carefree whilst wearing Chloé during the winter months.

Models with barely-there makeup and naturally teased tresses took to the runway wearing relaxed silhouettes.

Parisian chic meets an easy English attitude by combining parka jackets with silk scarf blouses, fitted pants, jogging-style pants or boyfriend culottes.

Oversized military coats, luxurious knitwear, hooded ponchos, knee-length skirts, quilted jackets, lace tops, silk shirts and drop-waist dresses were presented for daywear.

For evening, we saw feminine lace frocks and a black silk cut-out jumpsuit.

Since posting my pictures of the Chloé bags on Instagram and twitter the three-in-one ‘Lucy’ bag and oversized pochettes have received such a positive reaction that I’m sure they will become the must-have pieces of the Fall season.

Other key accessories included pumps and flatforms with ankle straps in suede and leather.

Stella McCartney’s sportswear-inspired Fall 2012 collection was presented on a colour palette of electric blue, ice white, black and pops of pink.

The presentation started with Natalia Vodianova wearing oversized separates before moving onto a selection of stunning dresses with embossed, textured jacquard and, for evening, a moody damask jacquard embroidered on tuxedos and mini dresses.

Slouchy pants in blue and shocking pink, embroidered shirts, jumpsuits, cosy knits including sweater dresses, cardigans and skirts plus a selection of tailored English tweed coats and jackets with nipped-in waists were presented.

The presentation concluded with a selection of fit-and-flare jockey-inspired skater dresses with long sleeves and high necklines.

Key accessories included gold ruffle metal details which exaggerated collars and cuffs, pointed shoes with white platform rubber soles and ‘Betty’ envelope bags with zips and mock croc to give them an urban edge.

For Fall 2012, Andrew Gn took us back to a romantic Victorian era “without frills and a darker edge”, as described in the show notes.

This collection was also full of mostly black looks with white, navy, emerald green, violet, deep prune and fuchsia shades.

The designer served up his signature razor-shar tailoring on brocade coats, mutton sleeves coats with fox epaulets, and cocoon jackets with bracelet sleeves.

We also saw beautiful silk georgette blouses with embroidered yokes, asymmetrical jersey dresses and fitted pants before a succession of gorgeous gowns.

My favourite was the striking emerald-green mousseline gown with lace and jet embroidery and the black-and-bronze silk-jacquard draped gown.

Loewe Fall 2012

For Spring, Stuart Vevers gave us soft, buttery leather in neutral colours. For Fall 2012 it was black, black and more black, with a tough edge, a lot of attitude, whilst still staying true to the brand’s heritage.

Stuart described the Loewe woman as noble and aristocratic. He explained that black was heavily featured as he felt it gave the collection a feeling of strength and boldness.

We saw sumptuous coats and jackets in many guises, fur with leather trims, wool with leather pockets, bi-colour haircalf and wool jackets, boxy leather coats with pocket details, shearling-lined capes and a surprising addition of bomber jackets which I loved as it gave the collection a more easy off-the-cuff feel and a youthful touch.

Leather skirts – some with laser cut details, some textured and some pleated –were presented alongside nappa leather pleated dresses and wool separates and silk dresses.

In a sea of black, there were pops of baby pink, navy blue and dark brown.

Key accessories were the lizard wedges (I loved the pink ones), and of course the bags.

The standouts for me were the ‘Arco Baroque’ bag, the pink-lizard ‘Amazona’ clutch and the ‘Amazona Baroque 35’ bag.

Sonia Rykiel’s Fall 2012 collection consisted of easy sporty pieces which had a surprisingly spring-like feel, but the black ear warmers worn by every model reminded you that this was a Fall collection.

We saw plenty of summery chiffon dresses alongside neutral chunky knits and shearling coats.

There was also a masculine-feminine split too, as boxy suits and double-breasted coats were presented alongside sweet sweaters over blouses, trompe l’oeil shirt dresses, fitted knitted pencil skirts worn low on the hips, belted long-sleeve dresses and sheer dresses with sexy thigh-high splits.

New creative director April Crichton very much captured the spirit of the Sonia Rykiel girl/woman.

Everything was easy and wearable with key accessories including ankle-strap wedges and shoulder bags.

The finale is always fun, as models get a chance to finally smile for the first time in four weeks.

‘Le Smoking’ was given a brand new leash of life during the Anne Valérie Hash Fall 2012 presentation.

Several tuxedo-style looks were reinvented as Anne presented bi-colour tuxedo jackets which were paired with slouchy pants to offer up a new silhouette.

Some pants had an asymmetrical slanted line to give the appearance that the pants were falling off the waist.

Collars were detached to further upset the codes of tailoring.

Jumpsuits were also given the ‘Le Smoking’ treatment with my favourite being the slinky black shimmering look with satin lapels.

Bi-colour dresses with gathered details on the hip, chic separates with wrap-around cummerbund-like waistbands and a one-sleeve black velvet red-carpet-worthy look made up the rest of this presentation.

Models walked the runway in platform ankle boots, whilst their hair looked sleek at the front, but purposely messy at the back.

This collection was nonchalant and unexpected with an understated attitude.
