Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Chloe Moretz also attended the 2011 National Board Of Review Awards Gala in New York City last night.

Like Rooney Mara, the young actress chose a look from the Miu Miu Resort 2012 collection, wearing a red satin overcoat with peplum details. Chloe fashioned the coat as a dress, cinching it with a thin black belt.

The look was styled with red glitter sandals and a pearl-and-crystal headband, as seen in the original Miu Miu lookbook.

It’s nice to see the teen star dressing age appropriate, and smiling on the red carpet, rather than her usual oversetting pout.

Rooney Mara returned to the States on Tuesday evening to attend the 2011 National Board of Review Awards Gala in New York City.

Rooney’s one-night stand with colour appears to have ended, as the actress wore a Miu Miu Resort 2012 black cap-sleeved dress. Rooney adds to her monochromatic look with white pumps.

Now that we’ve seen the actress in that stunning Valentino red, this mod look falls flat. Even in comparison to Rooney’s previous simplistic looks, this feels especially lacklustre.

Perhaps she’s finally beginning to feel the pressure of this lengthy ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ press tour.

Michelle Williams accepted the ‘Achievement Award’ for her role as Marilyn Monroe in ‘My Week with Marilyn’ at the Palm Springs Film Festival Awards Gala on Saturday evening.

Debuting a darker strawberry blonde ‘do, Michelle wore a champagne Miu Miu silk and beaded dress.

The beaded top looks quite beautiful on Michelle, as the bronzed beads in particular highlight her new hair colour and strappy sandals.

The silk skirt, however, looks wrinkled and therefore brings the entire look down.

As Michelle steps out in yet another neutral-coloured dress, we can only hope that she is saving her coloured choices to wow us during awards season.

Her mustard-yellow Vera Wang gown at the 2006 Academy Awards is one of my personal favourite red carpet moments of all time, and I would love to see a repeat magic moment come February.

Berlin, Germany was the next stop on the promo tour for ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’.

Rooney Mara attended a photocall earlier today with co-star Daniel Craig and director David Fincher.

She wore a Miu Miu Spring 2012 two-piece which included a grey cropped top and a black flared skirt which she teamed with Miu Miu black strappy sandals.

My immediate reaction was to dislike this, but on second glance the sporty apparel is perfect for her as she clearly has the body to pull it off.

The look is very clean and fresh with neutral makeup and no accessories.

I’m hoping for some colour on the red carpet for the premiere. I think she’s well overdue a look that doesn’t have black in the colour palette.

I know many of you aren’t fans of exposed midriffs on the red carpet, so how do you feel about this look?

The award for most the brand that has most inspired the high-street definitely goes to Miu Miu.

On this occasion it was Topshop who were inspired to create these two-tone black and gold glitter toe-cap pumps.

They are almost identical, but the Miu Miu pumps have a high heel and a gold inside trim to the black on the Topshop pumps.

You can get the Miu Miu heels from Net-A-Porter International, reduced in the sale, for £280 or the Topshop ‘Jamaica’ curved heel frome Topshop US for $110 or Topshop International for £55.

ASOS are known for recreating runway styles at affordable prices.

On this occasion they’ve taken inspiration from Miu Miu’s 40s-inspired collection to create their own midi dress with embellished sleeves.

The dress even has an open back like the runway version we saw on Diane Kruger back in July.

Miu Miu’s dress will set you back $4,105 whereas the ASOS dress cost a mere $154.53.
