Brit Marling In L’Wren Scott – ‘The East’ Brooklyn Screening

Brit Marling In L'Wren Scott - 'The East' Brooklyn Screening

Brit Marling zigged and zagged on the red carpet of ‘The East’ screening at The Nitehawk Cinema in Brooklyn, New York.

The actress got graphic in a L’Wren Scott Spring 2013 headmistress dress. Strictly tailored in grey-and-white stripes, the look boldly broke the rules with a kapow flash of jagged black paneling.

Studded Valentino pumps matched the rebel spirit of the dress, not that I didn’t also appreciate the zing of the runway’s dual-tone shoes that mimicked the sharp yin-and-yang pattern of the dress.

An effortless, piece-y updo and light rose lip offset the hard edges.

Isla Fisher In L’Wren Scott – ‘Now You See Me’ New York Premiere

Isla Fisher In L'Wren Scott - 'Now You See Me' New York Premiere

Isla Fisher attended the ‘Now You See Me’ New York premiere held at AMC Lincoln Square Theater in New York City on Monday evening.

The Australian actress wore a L’Wren Scott Spring 2013 beaded frock for the occasion.

Her nude high-neck sleeveless gown with art-deco beaded details – which wouldn’t look out of place on the set of her other movie, ‘The Great Gatsby’ – fails to excite.

This has nothing to do with the dress itself; Isla is failing to sell it to me.

It could be that I instantly pictured Nicole Kidman wearing this gown, giving it the stature and presence it commands, or that the styling is a bit bland.

Nicole Kidman In L’Wren Scott – ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Nicole Kidman In L'Wren Scott - 'Inside Llewyn Davis' Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Finally, she’s back.

I’m sure Diane Kruger had many more red carpet appearances under her belt this time last year, however, this is only Nicole Kidman’s second appearance during Cannes Film Festival.

I knew it wouldn’t be long before we saw the Australian actress donned her favourite designer – L’Wren Scott – but I didn’t for one second expect her to wear this blue, red and black leaf-print gown.

I absolutely love it. So did Keith Urban by the looks of things, as he couldn’t keep his hands off his lovely wife.

Nicole looked so very enchanting; the colours are beautifully unexpected, the streamline silhouette is so very flattering and I love the sultry bouffant.

This is what a true movie star looks like.

Statement cuffs on both wrists, which matched her earring and hair brooches completed her look.

Jennifer Lopez In L’Wren Scott – United Nations Foundation ‘Mom + Social’ Event

Jennifer Lopez In L'Wren Scott - United Nations Foundation 'Mom + Social' Event

I let out a cry of hallelujah when I saw Jennifer Lopez on the red carpet at the United Nations Foundation ‘Mom + Social’ Event at held 92Y Tribeca on Wednesday in New York City.

Finally she’s not dressing half her age, which has been a constant annoyance when it comes to her recent red carpet looks, with the exception of her gorgeous Michael Kors Met Gala gown.

Dressed in a black L’Wren Scott Fall 2012 dress, the singer/actress still looks sexy, but like a sexy 40 year old, not like a desperate 40 year old trying to cling onto her youth.

Her ‘Headmistress’ dress, which features a pointy collar and sheer yoke, was styled with the ever-popular Casadei ‘Blade’ pumps with black piping.

You may remember that Nicole Kidman, a L’Wren Scott devotee, wore this back in April 2012 when she attended the 47th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards with hubby Keith Urban.

Jessica Pare In L’Wren Scott – People/Time Party

Jessica Pare In L'Wren Scott - People Time Party

Jessica Pare attended the PEOPLE/TIME Party on the eve of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Friday evening in Washington, DC.

The ‘Mad Men’ actress wore a dress from her favourite designer of the moment, L’Wren Scott.

Her black dress with gold lattice detailing was from the designer’s Fall 2013 collection.

I don’t know if it’s the pose, the styling or the dress, but nothing is working for me here.

For someone who creates such form-fitting frocks, this L’Wren Scott look makes Jessica look very boxy.

To make matters worse, her makeup looks very ghostly.

She can do better; her Antonio Berardi gown at the main event proves that.

BAFTA New York Celebrates ‘Mad Men’

BAFTA New York Celebrates ‘Mad Men

BAFTA New York celebrated the leading lovelies, (and the dapper guys, too), of AMC’s ‘Mad Men’ on Monday at The Harvard Club in New York City. I wanted to be ‘mad’ about the ladies’ looks, but I was left feeling a bit underwhelmed by a few of them.

Jessica Paré:  The Canadian stunner wore a jade-green dress, gilded in gold bric-a-brac at the neck and sleeves, from L’Wren Scott’s Fall 2013 collection. The slimline dress showed off her figure, but I couldn’t take my eyes off the distracting black Casadei ‘Blade’ pumps. They weren’t right for this look, as I much preferred the metallic gold shoes that took to the runway.

January Jones: With her black leather Versace motorcycle jacket and printed Parker mini-skirt, the actress mixed punk and playful styles. Black Miu Miu platform pumps and a tousled bob finished this sporty moment that was certainly worlds away from her classic-glam ‘Mad Men’ character.

Christina Hendricks: The flame-haired star covered up her curves in a long-sleeve, knee-length black Valentino dress. While it did have some silhouette-enhancing trim at the waist and bodice, these details all but disappeared into the blackness. The spark was further extinguished with tired Stuart Weitzman black shoes—a more inspired pair would have worked wonders. At least Christina’s bold red lip provided some much-needed drama.

Kiernan Shipka: The young starlet stood out here with her adorable Dolce & Gabbana bow-accented frock that managed to look simultaneously sophisticated and age-appropriate. She also gets points for her retro side-swept wave and her decision to opt out of black pumps, choosing instead a mesh pair.
