WSJ Magazine 2017 Innovator Awards Red Carpet Roundup

The WSJ Magazine 2017 Innovator Awards on Wednesday (November 1) in New York City were an elegant affair with many stylish attendees opting for an inky colour palette.

Naomi Campbell: Despite the asymmetrical proportions of her Jean Paul Gaultier Couture outfit, methinks many will be focused on the chain facial jewellery. She went for a show-stopping look, but I wish there were a few less accessories so we could better appreciate the way the dress merges into trousers.

Gwyneth Paltrow:
Donning Michael Kors Collection Spring 2018, the actress tempered a sleek white and black dress with an oversized black blazer. I’m sure many will describe this as shapeless, but I found the proportions refreshing. What’s more, I appreciate the way she carried it off with a relaxed elegance.

Maddie Ziegler:
The dancer struck a pose in a slinky Tommy Hilfiger slip dress which was enlivened by gold zigzags and inky sequined diamonds on the hem. The gold lace-up shoes tied in the frock’s detail while adding a fun element that was appropriate for her 15 years.

Kat Graham In Jean Paul Gaultier Couture – ‘Where’s The Money’ LA Premiere

Kat Graham is someone who has fun with fashion and trying different looks. This was evident at the ‘Where’s The Money’ LA premiere on Wednesday (October 18).

The former ‘Vampire Diaries’ actress sported a pinstripe Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2012 Couture suit which was anything but your typical pantsuit. The jacket was the statement piece with a long sleeve and sharp shoulder transforming into a slim scarf wrap. Soft, tapered trousers were a smart counterpoint.

I appreciate Kat experimenting with this look, although I understand it won’t be everyone’s favourite. The only thing I would have liked to see is the lapel worn flat rather than popped as the point of the notched collar against her neck was somewhat distracting.

White Casadei pumps brought out the contrasting details in the suit.

What did you think of the outfit?

Irving Penn Exhibition Private Viewing Hosted by Vogue

A private viewing, hosted by Vogue, for the Irving Penn exhibition at the Grand Palais was held on Sunday (October 1) during Paris Fashion Week.

Adwoa Aboah: Taking a break from walking the runways at Paris Fashion Week, Adwoa posed in a Richard Quinn Spring 2018 look that offered an invigorating, happy mix of ditzy florals. You would think with so many bold, competing prints that this would translate as disjointed. But, on the contrary, I loved this look on Adwoa, and I also credit its success to her minimal approach to the styling, with a black sandal and red pout all she needed. Flower power, indeed.

Kylie Minogue: I think it’s safe to say that Kylie put this Alice McCall ‘More Than A Woman’ fringe gown to work for her—as it was made to be spun around. As fun as it was, I was a bit tassel fatigued and the muted, mauve-pink colour wasn’t my favourite for the vibrancy of the entertainer, but she attempted to bring a splash of vividness via her lipstick.

Dita von Teese: With a look that riffed on the field-of-poppies print from the Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2017 Couture collection, Dita maximized proportions with this look. I have mixed feelings on the balloon sleeves, as they might be lumped into a costume-y circus category. But, the colours were striking in contrast to the black pencil skirt.

2017 GQ Men of The Year Awards Red Carpet Roundup

Many more femmes took to the GQ Men of The Year Awards red carpet to celebrate the fellas on Tuesday (September 5) in London.

Jourdan Dunn: I love how the flash of red brought an eye-catching finesse to the supermodel’s Jean Paul Gaultier Fall 2013 Couture sculpted gown that celebrated sumptuous velvet, as we transition into fall-facing looks.

Winnie Harlow: While Winne wore her Julien Macdonald Fall 2017 chainmail-esque harness gown with model prowess, it still seems to be something we’ve seen before. Sheer? Check. Slit to there? Check. The sultry glamour in her long waves and matte red lip also contributed to the overtly sexy vibe.

Venice Film Festival Weekend Roundup

Here is a roundup of the stunning gowns which hit the Venice Film Festival carpet this weekend.

Giulia Bevilacqua: If you were in any doubt, Giulia did her best to let you know that she’s arrived at the festival, sweeping, almost literally, the red carpet in Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini. Beautiful woman. Equally beautiful gown, but I would’ve loved to have seen some earrings here.
