Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Menswear roundup 9 decemberAn eclectic mix of men took to the red carpet today and over the weekend, where their looks ranged from regal to, well, a bit more wild. The unifying factor? All the guys worked some degree of facial scruff.

James McAvoy: To accept his ‘Best Actor’ Award at the 2013 British Independent Film Awards on Sunday in London, James wore a brown plaid Burberry suit, complemented by a baby-blue button-down shirt and brown silk tie. The tailoring could have been better, as the pants fell a bit long.

Adam Lambert: Always the sartorial show-off, the singer put his own flair on Sunday’s 15th annual Trevor Project Benefit, honouring Jane Lynch, in Hollywood, California. There was no missing his mulberry suit, swirled in an artsy, leafy abstracted pattern, which he paired with a charcoal-grey shirt. The heavy black loafers were a clunky contrast.

Christian Bale: Joining Bradley Cooper at the ‘American Hustle’ New York screening on Sunday, the actor walked on the dark side. He took a monochromatic, all-black approach in a Gucci notch-lapel, two button Brera suit, paired with a black dress shirt and black leather lace-up shoes.

Felicity Jones In Burberry - British Independent Film Awards 2013

Going the way of Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie, it was yet another black dress for Felicity Jones, who attended the British Independent Film Awards 2013 held at Old Billingsgate Market in London on Sunday evening.

I was initially failing to get excited about her Burberry calf-length fitted dress, until the close up revealed that the bow accents were embroidered with pearl detailing.

Felicity styled the look with black Jimmy Choo ‘Anouk’ pumps and a Jimmy Choo diamante-embellished clutch, with which she was spotted inside the venue.

As always, her makeup was kept neutral, with kohl-rimmed eyes and pink glossy lips rounding out her look.

I was tempted to say something is missing, but after seeing the clutch I am glad she presented the look in this simple manner on the red carpet.

2013 British Fashion Awards Menswear Roundup

There were many other well-dressed men joining Harry Styles and a host of lovely ladies at the 2013 British Fashion Awards yesterday evening.

Nick Grimshaw: The radio presenter is always well turned out without looking like he tried too hard. On this occasion he donned an eggplant velvet Richard James blazer with a blue shirt, navy tie and what appear to be jeans.

Tinie Tempah: Also donning a dickie-bow tie, Tinie wore a Burberry suit consisting of a rich charcoal-grey velvet suit and tapered pants which just grazed his ankles. Jimmy Choo ‘Mayfair’ shoes completed his look.

Oliver Cheshire: Opting not to go the velvet-suit route, the British model with chiseled cheekbones wore a classic shawl-collar tuxedo, also styled with a bow tie and an additional polka-dot scarf and white pocket square to up the ante of his incredibly well-turned-out look.

Sienna Miller In Burberry - British Fashion Awards 2013

Sienna Miller brought a welcome shot of jewel-toned colour to the 2013 British Fashion Awards, held on Monday at the London Coliseum in England.

Sadly, the vibrant emerald hue of her Burberry Prorsum side-slit gown was about the only component working in her favour.

Not only were the flashy tribal Dominic Jones ‘Kamba’ necklace and silver sandals a harsh counterpoint, they made her bronze clutch appear all the more out of place.

But my biggest issues with her entrance were the visible wrinkles of a rumpled dress and the ill-fitting bodice that did her no justice, not to mention her pink-stained, messy-curly locks.

I just wanted to lend her a brush.

Menswear round up

From London to Los Angeles, here’s a look at the men who made an impression over the weekend.

Dan Stevens: The British actor stepped out at the London Evening Standard Theatre Awards on Sunday night, wearing a dashing black Burberry tux and bow tie. It doesn’t get much more dashing than that.

Andrew Garfield: The actor attended the ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2′ photocall at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver Studios on Saturday alongside Emma Stone. Like his lovely costar, he also showed Band of Outsiders some love, wearing one of the label’s khaki-coloured jackets. He paired his casual outerwear choice with a blue-and-red plaid shirt, dark denim, and black loafers.

Brad Pitt: The actor wore a black tux and matching bow tie by Saint Laurent, joining his wife-to-be Angelina Jolie and their son Maddox on the red carpet at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Governors Awards on Saturday evening.

Naomie Harris In Burberry Prorsum - Governors Awards 2013

Naomie Harris joined Lupita Nyong’o, Amy Adams, Lea Seydoux and Angelina Jolie on the red carpet for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Governors Awards held at the Grand Ballroom of the Hollywood and Highland Center in LA yesterday evening.

The British actress looked divine wearing a Burberry, alluringly desirable, stretch-crepe short sleeve frock from ‘The London Exclusives’ collection

Her dress was enriched with embellished details at the neckline and shoulders which also line the back giving the cut-out detail a dramatic, sexier feel.

Opting for sleek straight locks over the romantic curls she has favoured for her last few red carpet appearances, Naomie completed her look with a Jimmy Choo ‘Kase’ oval clutch.

‘The London Exclusives’ collection is available exclusively at the Burberry Regent Street flagship store in London.
