Solange Knowles In Stéphane Rolland Couture - ‘The Great Gatsby’ Premiere & Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony

Solange Knowles made her Cannes Film Festival debut on the red carpet this evening for ‘The Great Gatsby’ premiere, which also served as the opening ceremony.

I remember the hairs that stood up on the back of my neck when I saw this stunning Stéphane Rolland Fall 2012 feather-accented caramel gown taking to the runway. Sadly, the same effect didn’t happen this evening.

While I love the gown, her Chopard jewels and that orange-red lip, the gown loses its fierceness with that thin gold belt.

I would have preferred the warrior princess runway belt and a smaller Jimmy Choo clutch.

Knowing Solange was attending this event, I think I may have set my expectations too high.

Is anyone feeling the mehness of this look?

Big sister Beyonce is the honorary chair of the 2013 Met Gala tonight, but Solange Knowles still made sure to make her mark at New York’s Metropolitan Museum.

The songstress, who seemingly never fails to indulge us with her love of print, once again perked up the red carpet with this dizzyingly patterned dress by Kenzo matched with an Edie Parker box clutch.

If there’s one thing that can be said about this look, it definitely took punk to funk.

While fun, the semi-casual black-and-blue moment was a bit less dramatic than what I was expecting, even with the leg-baring slit sliced up the left side.

Standard black sandals were subdued, especially for Solange.

She did deliver the theatrics with her fabulous, signature ‘fro, which could quite possibly be the highest I’ve seen it.

Giant statement earrings, which reminded me of evil eyes, were bejewelled and big enough to banish any negative energy.

Solange Knowles In Jill Stuart - ‘The Great Gatsby’ Pre-Met Ball Special Screening

Solange Knowles joined Emma Roberts and Carey Mulligan for the special Pre-Met Ball screening of ‘The Great Gatsby’, held at the Museum of Metropolitan Art in New York City on Sunday.

The singer doesn’t often invite the girls out to play, but they were front and center on this occasion.

What is surprising is that her Jill Stuart Fall 2013 striped long-sleeve peplum dress was very demure on the runway, however, Solange opened up the neckline to reveal a dramatic plunge.

Never one to disappoint on the shoe front, Solange wore Burberry Prorsum ‘Crayford’ bright red wedges and styled the rest of her look with a selection of rings and her trademark fro’.

I pity the fool who sat behind her for this screening.

Solange Knowles In Alice + Olivia - 2013 Coachella Music Festival

The general consensus was that Solange Knowles’ first look during the 2013 Coachella Music Festival wasn’t quite in tune with the spirit of the event.

With the festivities taking place over three days, the singer had a chance to redeem herself and so she did, wearing a cute Alice + Olivia ‘Candice’ A-line dress.

Her flattering A-line cut dress in a fresh, citrusy lemon print features an open back for a flirty finish.

Opting for floral-print Kate Spade New York sandals may be overkill for some, but I think they blend well with her effortless look.

Did Solange hit the right note on this occasion?

Coachella 2013

Coachella 1

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, which kicked off this past weekend, is always a hotbed of eclectic, look-at-that ensembles, as the fest flaunts an anything-goes attitude that many stars are plenty keen to adopt. Cutoffs, crop tops and crochet all come out of the closet, and it’s the one time where even the most reprehensible faux-pas can get a free pass on the fairground—even if they shouldn’t.

Kristen Stewart: The most memorable part of this Kristen sighting was that she was arm-in-arm with her on-and-off boyfriend, Robert Pattinson. Her T-shirt, too-short shorts and Converse kicks were a complete yawn and paled in comparison to Coachella’s other cool and crazy looks. Of course, she would probably say she’s just there for the music not the photo op.

Solange Knowles: The singer continued her love affair with colour and print in this bubblegum-pink Hawaiian floral skirt and melon-orange CC Skye box clutch. Here, though, her go-to style didn’t work so well. The slit was too high, and her white Stuart Weitzman sandals were far too mumsy. She just looked uncomfortable.

Bella Thorne: The up-and-coming starlet really was the flower-child of the fest with her tiara of blooms worn atop her long auburn strands. At only 15, she can get away with shredded denim, a mesh shirt and sneakers, and still look charming.
