2014 Critics’ Choice Movie Awards Red Carpet Roundup

2014 Critics' Choice Movie Awards Red Carpet Roundup

We’ve seen a roundup of the men, so here is a roundup of the ladies who attended the 19th Annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards at Barker Hangar on Thursday (January 16) in Santa Monica, California alongside the likes of Cate Blanchett, Amy Adams and Lupita Nyong’o.

Meryl Streep: Like Julia Roberts – her red carpet pal – and Matthew McConaughey, Meryl opted for sunglasses on the red carpet, much to my chagrin. The actress wore a Stella McCartney embroidery-detailed navy dress with flared sleeves styled with black tights, Ferragamo pumps and a fold-over Louboutin clutch. I’m rarely impressed with her red carpet looks and this is no exception. I wish Helen Mirren’s stylist would take Meryl under his wing.

Oprah Winfrey: The TV host wore an emerald green Azzedine Alaia dress, belted at the waist to accentuate her hourglass shape, which she styled with Lorraine Schwartz jewels.

Abigail Breslin: Her pastel-grey Badgley Mischka gown makes her look much older and the colour is washing her out. The only thing I like here is the hair and makeup.

W Magazine’s Movie Issue

W Magazine Movie Issue

W magazine’s ‘Movie’ issue features six different covers chronicling the best films and performances of 2013, including Amy Adams, Oprah, Lupita Nyong’o, Jennifer Lawrence (in Dolce & Gabbana), Cate Blanchett and Matthew McConaughey, all of which were captured by Juergen Teller.

The surprising thing about these covers is that Jennifer doesn’t appear to be wearing Dior; that honour was bestowed upon Lupita.

Jennifer shared with the mag that moment when she fell at the 2013 Oscars, saying “I was at the Oscars, waiting to hear if my name was called, and I kept thinking, ‘Cakewalk, cakewalk, cakewalk’. I thought, ‘Why is ‘cakewalk’ stuck in my head? ’ And then, as I started to walk up the stairs and the fabric from my dress tucked under my feet, I realized my stylist had told me ‘Kick, walk, kick, walk.’ You are supposed to kick the dress out while you walk, and I totally forgot because I was thinking about cake! And that’s why I fell”.

Oprah Winfrey In Escada – Good Morning America

Oprah Winfrey In Escada - Good Morning America

Oprah Winfrey was spotted leaving ‘Good Morning America’ in New York on Tuesday following her guest appearance where she promoted her latest movie ‘The Butler’, which premiered on Monday evening.

Wearing the colour purple, she looked fabulous sporting a vibrant-hued Escada frock as she waved to fans outside the studio.

The flattering dress, with three-quarter-length sleeves and a gathered split neckline, was styled with champagne-coloured embellished t-bar sandals.

Lorraine Schwartz jewels and a more manageable ‘fro completed her look.

Oprah Winfrey In Theia – ‘The Butler’ New York Premiere

Oprah Winfrey In Theia - 'The Butler' New York Premiere

Oprah Winfrey took to the red carpet with long-time beau Stedman Graham for ‘The Butler’ New York premiere yesterday evening.

The TV host, who opted for a curly ‘do mimicking the oversized ‘fro she sports on the cover of O Magazine’s September 2013 issue, wore a Theia salmon crunch-sequined cocktail dress featuring a v-neckline and three-quarter-length sleeves.

Her custom look was styled with a matching Bottega Veneta rectangular clutch and coral-stone Lorraine Schwartz jewels.

I love how youthful and energetic this look is; however, the ‘fro overwhelms her in most of the pictures. I wish the bejewelled hairband sat further back to keep the hair off her face.
