2017 Palm Springs International Film Festival Film Awards Gala

The 28th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Film Awards Gala was held at the Palm Springs Convention Center on January 2, 2017 in Palm Springs, California, where a host of stars got the year started in style.

Kirsten Dunst: The actress glistening wearing a custom Ralph & Russo Couture gown, however, I had a craving for something to really make this look pop more—even brushing her hair back might have done the job to show off those statement earrings.

Ruth Negga: A newcomer on the scene, Ruth Negga had a princess moment in her whimsically embroidered Valentino Spring 2017 gown, which featured a fanciful innocence despite the sheer transparency factor.

6th Annual AACTA International Awards

The 6th annual AACTA International Awards were hosted at Avalon Hollywood on January 6, 2017 in Los Angeles, California. The AACTAs recognise and honour outstanding achievement in the Australian film and television industry, so it is no surprise that a few Aussie beauties took to the red carpet for the event.

Nicole Kidman: The statuesque actress wore a Rochas Spring 2017 tea-length dress. I love how she breathed some life into the moodier dress, bringing out the pink waistband with her vibrant lip colour. The main issue I take with the look is in the bodice area, as it appears as if she has a ribbon of tulle wrapped around her waist in cummerbund form thus cutting off her chest.

Isla Fisher: Another auburn-haired Aussie beauty, Isla Fisher lit up the red carpet with an incredibly sunny Monique Lhuillier golden-yellow gown featuring Asian-influenced, lacy floral embroidery. I applaud her attempt to bring a ray of sunshine to the proceedings, however, I found the look to sadly be on the more dated side. Add to it the pair of rather unfortunate platform sandals that occasionally peeked through the too-long gown, and I wanted to shield my eyes from the glare.

Emma Stone: Managing to effectively toe the line between adorable and badass, the ‘La La Land’ actress wore a Gucci dress that took the idea of the LBD to another level. The silhouette of the tiered ruffle frock may have been sweet, but the cage shoulder detail and the embellished bow and collar had just the right amount of rebellious edge to ensure a dramatic and not-too-dainty finish.

Nicole Kidman attended the Evening Standard Theatre Awards held at The Old Vic Theatre on Sunday (November 22) in London, England.

I love the Victoriana edge of this Alexander McQueen Spring 2016 gown which is brought right upto date with the dove embroidery.

Overall this makes a pretty feminine statement, with complementary jewels providing the finishing touches.

I adore Nicole when she’s serving this kind of regal realness.

Nicole Kidman attended the ‘Photograph 51’ charity performance after party at the Great Hall On The Strand on Thursday (November 19) in London, England.

The actress wore a Jason Wu Spring 2016 dress which seemingly focuses on the meticulously crafted grid pattern and signature frayed hemline.

Sadly, the styling is a miss for me.

I don’t get the prissy hair with the edgy, studded Gianvito Rossi ‘Marnie’ booties, plus the necklace feels like an after-thought.

Nicole Kidman attended the 2015 Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards held at Claridges Hotel on Tuesday (November 3) in London, England, where she picked up the ‘Theatre Icon’ award.

This Proenza Schouler Spring 2016 embroidered dress stopped me in my tracks, and not in a good way.

I love Proenza Schouler and Nicole Kidman, but is not a good match.

Between the sleeves, cold-shoulders and waist ruffle there is too for Nicole to contend with.

Chloe Sevigny, Kate Bosworth and maybe even the great Cate may have sold this to me, but not Nicole.

Head-to-toe no from me.

Nicole Kidman attended the Women of the Year lunch and awards at InterContinental Park Lane Hotel today (October 19) in London, England.

The actress wore a powerfully feminine, Victoriana-inspired Erdem Spring 2016 mulit-coloured dress.

Styled with a Rupert Sanderson ‘Gael’ pumps and a Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ clutch, this makes for quite a charming and truly captivating autumnal piece – despite its Spring label.

On some this may have been quite ageing, but I just see elegance and grace.
