Brand Ambassador of the Year - Marion Cotillard for Christian Dior

French star Marion Cotillard was Christian Dior most lavish representative, with a grand sum of 19 looks to her name over the past 12 months.

The face of Lady Dior, she wears the brand well, gracefully balancing designer Raf Simons’ sophisticated yet still-edgy offerings. Not that she didn’t have competition in the category, with Natalie Portman and Jennifer Lawrence also working the Dior angle—sometimes more successfully than others.

That said, Marion started the year off with a bang, cementing an early spot on the best-dressed list with her risk-taking, citron-yellow couture gown at the 2013 BAFTA Awards that was breathtakingly bold and thereby unforgettable.

More Dior moments at the Met Gala, the Cannes Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival soon followed, with the actress later wrapping up her 2013 designer run at the Marrekech Film Festival.

Rather regrettably for this year’s Dior-Marion match, she wavered as a pristine style steward of the brand, also landing the unfortunate award of Magnifique to Tragique 2013.

Magnifique To Tragique 2013 – Marion Cotillard

Would you believe this is the second time Marion Cotillard has received this award?

It may seem harsh, but if we were to chart her red carpet looks from the sublime Dior Couture gowns during awards season to the Marrakesh Film Festival looks it would depict a sharp decline.

Maybe we expect so much from Marion because she has delivered so magnificently in the past, but wearing tent-like dress after tent-like dress had us losing faith and wondering if she had a baby on board.

That was the reasoning behind her last style shift and, if you remember, that was also the reasoning behind Kerry Washington’s autumnal blip prior to her announcement.

Hopefully we will see a resurgence in 2014 and she’ll go back to being Miss Consistent.

Marion Cotillard In Christian Dior Couture - Marrakech Film Festival Closing Awards Ceremony

Marion Cotillard attended the closing ceremony of the 2013 Marrakech International Film Festival in Morocco on Saturday evening wearing her fifth Dior look and fourth Dior Fall 2013 Couture look of the event.

While she didn’t go out with quite the bang I was hoping for, this black-striped, silk Couture dress with draped detailing is a monumental improvement over the Preen look. However, the Marion captivating brilliance factor still remains at large.

I want to wax lyrical about how amazing this look is but all I can think about is that she could’ve done so much better. This has to be one of the least memorable runs during a film festival by a jury member in a long time.

Marion Cotillard In Preen - 'Public Enemies' Marrakech Film Festival Presentation

Marion Cotillard attended the ‘Public Enemies’ presentation during the 13th Marrakech International Film Festival in Morocco on Thursday evening.

Surprisingly, and much to your delight no doubt, she wasn’t wearing Dior.

On this rare occasion she wore a Preen Resort 2013 ‘Wyatt’ floral-print and paint-box-striped maxi dress with a solid black back, which feels a bit low key for any event during a film festival, especially one which has seen her wearing couture to a photocall.

Had I not seen Marion wearing form-fitting dresses on Saturday and Sunday, I would’ve been tempted to say ‘baby on board’, so I can only surmise that perhaps she’s trying to play it low key during this festival or is just having several off days, as nothing she has been wearing of late has wowed me.

Let’s hope she’s saving something for the closing ceremony.

Marion Cotillard In Christian Dior Couture - 'Waltz With Monica' Marrakech Film Festival Photocall

Marion Cotillard attended the ‘Waltz for Monica’ premiere during the 2013 Marrakech International Film Festival in Morocco yesterday evening.

Keeping up her 100% Dior record at this festival, wearing her third look from the Fall 2013 Couture collection.

Her look consisted of a navy scoop-neck rise-and-fall dress over an orange-and-blue striped floor-length piece.

My mind boggles that this is Couture, but aside from that this feels too casual for a premiere.

The shape does nothing for Marion, and the black mesh pumps could’ve been orange to add some interest.

Once again it’s a no from me. Not because it’s Dior again, but because the look feels so flat.
