Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Lucy Liu joins Rashida Jones, Florence Welch and Beyonce Knowles in sporting bold, daring prints this week.

The actress was spotted on her way to the ABC studios in New York City, for a guest appearance on ‘Good Morning America’ to talk about her role in ‘Southland’ where she sheds her glamour girl image to play a cop.

She looked lovely, as always, wearing a Thakoon Spring 2012 dress.

The Indian-inspired printed dress was teamed with a beige coat and matching YSL sandals.

It’s interesting how we have three different versions of one dress on this post.

The runway version has a slightly different print to Lucy’s dress. The dress on Net-A-Porter has the same print as Lucy’s dress, but her dress doesn’t have the gold lamé hem.

If I purchased this dress I wouldn’t cut off the gold hem, as it is very much an integral part of the overall piece, but I understand why it may have seemed too much for a morning talk show.

This WWIB post spans five years and seven celebs proving that an Alexander McQueen piece is truly timeless.

Sienna Miller was the first to wear this Alexander McQueen Spring 2008 draped dress back in October 2007 at the premiere of her film ‘Interview,’ during the BFI 51st London Film Festival.

As Sienna is known for her signature grungy look, I like how simple she keeps it here, with just a loose up-do and black pumps.

Simple was certainly not on Lucy Liu’s mind, however, as she wore the same dress in hot pink to a January 2008 taping of ‘The Late Show with David Letterman’ in New York City. The hot pink plus leather gloves and pointy toes shoes is just too much.

Just a month later, Katie Holmes wore the same dress in houndstooth at the First Annual Essence Black Women In Hollywood Luncheon in LA. Sporting a shag bob the actress paired her dress with eggplant peep-toes and an Alexander McQueen skull clutch.

Resident bombshell Amber Heard tried out the hot pink number at the ‘Never Back Down’ Hollywood premiere in March 2008. Her shoes let her down.

Socialite Tinsley Mortimer posed backstage at a February 2009 Max Azria fashion show, pairing her dress with black accessories, including a Chanel purse.

Actress Leelee Sobieski took the dress in a more unique route at the May 2011 MoMA & MoMA PS1 Celebratory dinner, by pairing the dress with a unique pair of black-and-white woven ankle boots.

Kate Beckinsale supported Eva Longoria’s foundation party in LA last month accessorizing with simple black peep-toes and a high pony.

Who do you think wore it best?

It’s a tough call with so many beautiful ladies and options to choose from, but I think I’d go with Katie Holmes, because I love the print and 2008 was such a chic year for her.

Lucy Liu attended the ‘Detachment’ premiere with co-star Adrien Brody in New York City last night at the Landmark Sunshine Cinema.

She gives us a second look at the Chadwick Bell Fall 2012 collection, following Elizabeth Banks who gave the new designer his red carpet debut at the Vanity Fair party last month.

Her sheer leather appliqué high-neck dress was teamed with a purple Roger Viver clutch and nude Giuseppe Zanotti platforms.

A simple bun was the perfect finishing touch to this look.

I am usually Lucy Liu’s biggest supporter, but I wasn’t too crazy about her look at the 2012 Independent Spirit Awards, held in Santa Monica, California this evening.

Her Roberto Cavalli Resort 2012 dress is cute and playful, but I don’t like the white part of this look.

Had this halter dress just had a black skirt or a black and leopard skirt, I would’ve loved it.

A simple ponytail, a black Roger Vivier clutch and gold earrings accessories her look.

What do love, however, is her Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Jem’ sculptured wedges which totally upstaged her dress.

This is why I love Lucy. She always gives me something to drool over.

Tory Burch hosted the launch of Lucy Liu’s book, ‘Seventy Two’ in New York City last night.

The Asian beauty wore a Giambattista Valli floral print dress from the Fall 2011 collection, which I added to my favourite this week.

Her cream and black dress with padded shoulders and sleeves, was teamed with black tights, black ankle boots and an aqua clutch.

Normally I would moan about the tights, but I really like them on this occasion, as it gives her look warming Fall feel.

Barely-there makeup and a high bun completed her look.
