Who Wore The Kooples Better… Joanne Froggatt or Laura Whitmore?

Who Wore The Kooples Better Joanne Froggatt or Laura Whitmore

Last month Joanne Froggatt attended the British Independent Film Awards 2013 wearing a black strapless jumpsuit from The Kooples.

The ‘Downton Abbey’ star, who usually opts for more colourful looks, styled her jumpsuit with a black Louis Vuitton clutch and simple black pumps.

Irish TV presenter Laura Whitmore wore the same jumpsuit last week, opting to go a bit further with her accessories, adding a white blazer, a Kate Spade New York clutch and a Jennifer Behr gold-spiked headband.

While I appreciated Laura’s styling efforts, less was more in this case so Joanne wins for me.

Laura Whitmore In The Kooples – BRIT Awards Nominations

Laura Whitmore In The Kooples - BRIT Awards Nominations

Laura Whitmore attended the BRIT Awards nominations held at ITV Studios on Thursday (January 9) in London.

The Irish TV presenter wore an uber-chic look consisting of a black strapless jumpsuit with a satin neckline styled with a white blazer, both of which are from The Kooples’ Fall 2013 collection.

A Jennifer Behr spiked headband, black pumps and a Kate Spade New York box clutch accessorized her look.

At first I wasn’t too sure about the clutch as I thought it dominated the look but, along with the headband, Laura proves that she likes to have fun with fashion.

You may remember that Joanna Froggatt wore this same jumpsuit to the British Independent Film Awards 2013.

Laura Whitmore In Fyodor Golan & Louise Roe In Mara Hoffman – 2013 MTV EMAs

Laura Whitmore In Fyodor Golan & Louise Roe In Mara Hoffman - 2013 MTV EMAs

Laura Whitmore and Louise Roe were the presenters of the red carpet event prior to the MTV EMAs yesterday evening held at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

The ladies gave us two very different looks.

Laura Whitmore: The Irish presenter opted for a white satin structural Fyodor Golan Fall 2013 strapless mini with a peplum waist and black embroidery, which she styled with Kurt Geiger shoes. While the runway version would’ve been impractical for her job, it’s much preferred over her red carpet version.

Louise Roe: The LA-based, UK-born presenter opted for a more colourful look which was more to my liking, despite this Mara Hoffman Spring 2014 sweetheart-neckline printed top and skirt feeling very much season inappropriate. Vamping up the look with kohl-rimmed eyes, she accessorized with a gold cuff and gold Jimmy Choo sandals.

The WGSN Global Fashion Awards

The WGSN Global Fashion Awards

The WGSN Global Fashion Awards, which recognise achievement in fashion and retail design on an international scale, took place at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London yesterday evening.

Winners on the night included Erdem Moralio?lu (Womenswear Designer), Acne (Menswear Design Team), Nicholas Kirkwood (Accessories and Footwear Designer) and Topshop (Best Multi-Channel Retailer).

Laura Whitmore: The Irish TV presenter wore a feather-festooned Nicholas Oakwell Spring 2012 Couture white-collared frock accented with a silver belt and silver pumps, opting to mix metals with a gold clutch which looked like it weighed a ton. You may remember that Tali Lennox wore this same dress back in May 2012.

Ella Catliff: ‘La Petite Anglaise’ blogger, and my seat mate for the evening, Ella wore a Nanette Lepore ‘Spaceship’ dress with a stunning vibrant floral print with leather insets. Not afraid to mix prints, she added a leopard-print clutch to her look. Loved that matte-red lip.

Amber Le Bon: The model wowed in an Ermanno Scervino white embroidered gown with a floor-sweeping train which couldn’t have been a more fitting look for the elegant model. With her hair teased into a top knot to showcase those dazzling earrings, she styled the rest of her look with a white Stark clutch with gold hardware and a dark manicure.

Laura Whitmore In Christopher Kane – Scottish Fashion Awards 2013

Laura Whitmore In Christopher Kane - Scottish Fashion Awards 2013

The 8th Annual Scottish Fashion Awards was held at Dover House in London yesterday evening, so they appropriately named it ‘Scottish Fashion Invasion of London’.

Laura Whitmore was in attendance wearing the dress made by the winner of ‘Scottish Designer of the Year’ – Christopher Kane.

She donned a frock that fashion fantasies are made of. Gothic romanticism at its finest.

The all-black dress with sheer tulle inserts and a high-necked dose of hedonistic cool is part Georgian, part glamour, culminating in a seductive climax. She styled the dress with vertiginous Kurt Geiger platform heels and a heady dose of sassy attitude.

With her blonde hair pulled back, she styled her look with a black clutch and jewels from Catherine Zoraida which included a ‘Bluebell’ ring and a ‘Seahorse’ ring.

Laura Whitmore In Zara – Macmillan De’Longhi Art Auction 2013

Laura Whitmore In Zara - Macmillan De'Longhi Art Auction 2013

Laura Whitmore attended the Macmillan De’Longhi Art Auction, raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support, at the Royal College of Art in London yesterday evening, where she DJ’d at the event.

You will be forgiven if you thought she was wearing a Louis Vuitton Fall 2013 dress.

She’s actually wearing a Zara lace-trimmed lingerie dress clearly inspired by said collection, which she styled with a leather biker jacket slung over her shoulders and a pair of lust-worthy buckled booties.

I know some of you are purists, preferring runway looks not to be diluted on the high street, but when the results look so good and the price points are so different, it’s hard to resist.

Laura Whitmore In Raoul – Marie Claire’s 25th Birthday Party

Laura Whitmore In Raoul - Marie Claire's 25th Birthday Party

Laura Whitmore was quite the social butterfly yesterday evening, attending both the 25th birthday party of Marie Claire at Hotel Cafe Royal and Harper’s Bazaar’s London Fashion Week closing party in London.

The Irish presenter known for her love of miniskirts wore a chic black crepe Raoul Fall 2013 backless gown with a satin ruffle cascading down the back.

With her hair swept up into an effortless updo, makeup-wise she opted for a copper lip colour and cat eyes, and she kept her accessories to a minimum, adding a black-and-silver clutch and gold jewels.

It’s nice to see her go glam for a change.
