Red Carpet Fashion Awards

This is my favourite look so far at the 2011 amfAR’s Cinema Against AIDS Gala during the 2011 Cannes Film Festival this evening.

Gwen Stefani really disappointed me with her first Cannes look, but this self-designed custom L.A.M.B. gown more than makes up for it.

Her black halter mermaid gown is simply breath-taking.

What I admire the most is the way she’s working the gown with a capital W.

I’m guessing she’s no longer channeling her trademark red lippie, as on this occasion she opted for a gold colour to match her waistband.

A Roger Vivier ‘Miss Viv Punk’ clutch completed her look.

As the newest L’Oreal girl on the block, I was most excited about seeing Gwen Stefani at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival.

This evening the singer/designer arrived on the red carpet with her husband Gavin Rossdale, to attend “The Tree Of Life” Premiere.

Sadly my excitement turned to a tinge of disappointment at the overwhelming feeling of deja vu.

That’s because supermodel Iman has already worn this sequined same Stella McCartney jumpsuit in gold to the 2011 Met Gala just two weeks ago to the day, plus she also sported a similar mass of voluminous curly locks.

I don’t hate the look, but I wish I hadn’t seen it before and I also wish she’d opted for a gown.

I love that she opted for a punchy pink pout, instead of her trademark red lippie.

Gwen Stefani graces the cover of Elle US May 2011 issue, which focuses on women in music.

Dusan Reljin shot the beautiful singer and designer wearing Givenchy and Michael Kors.

Gwen shares that she takes much pride in her appearance, but she would never place herself in the same category as Lady Gaga or Katy Perry, as she thinks they are much sexier than her.

I totally disagree. Gwen is waaaay hotter than those two put together.

The Women in Music issue also features multiple female singers stars including Jennifer Hudson, Adele, Jennifer Lopez, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Beyonce and Willow Smith.

Read more at Elle.com. The May issue hits newsstands April 12.

Here are some extracts from Gwen’s interview:

On writing hits: “I do! Why wouldn’t you want that many people listening to the songs that you wrote? There’s no way to go back after you have had it. So the intentions of even the solo records were always about trying to write those guilty-pleasure albums that just get in your head and you can’t get out. I’m not cool, I’m not into the B-sides. Prince, who is one of my idols, gave me some advice when I worked with him: “Have you ever just tried writing a hit? Like, don’t just try writing a song, try and write a hit song.” I remember him saying that and me thinking, Yeah, you’re right. Why would you write anything else?” Read more…

Gwen Stefani presented her L.A.M.B. Fall 2011 collection which closed Fashion Week yesterday

Like Victoria Beckham, the L.A.M.B. collection was a showcase of Gwen’s personal style.

She presented 48 looks in a very unique fashion.

The show was split into 6 sections which their own soundtracks.

The ‘Solider Girl’ showcased khaki trench coasts, menswear inspired shirts and ties, camouflage floral print blouse and a houndstooth ruffle skirt.

The ‘Ragga Muffin Girls’ gave us navajo print chiffon dresses, halter bow blouses and menswear v neck sweaters.

The ‘London Girls’ wore 70s inspired leather motorcycle jackets, menswear blazers and plaid punker pants.

The ‘Buffalo Girls’ were just as edgy teaming patchwork sweaters with ties and oversized coats.

‘Mod Girls’ presented leopard print dresses, tunics and jersey pants.

The final group were the ‘Glamour Girls’. They all wore black looks ranging from wide leg palazzo pants to bustier dresses and jumpsuits.

Gwen took her bow at the end of the show wearing my favourite look from the collection; a printed one-shoulder wide-leg jumpsuit.

She started to take her bow on her own until her cute son Kingston ran onto the runway to join his mother much to her surprise.

You can see the video here.

Gwen Stefani and her “No Doubt” crew all walked the red carpet at the 33rd Kennedy Center Honors held in Washington DC last night.

There were all decked out in Prada, but it was Gwen Stefani who stood out wearing a canary yellow Prada silk dress, and because she’s looked absolutely breath-taking.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen her so radiant.

Her Prada dress has a black patent leather bow belt and a black trim on the hem.

Gwen teased her hair into an elegant half up, half down style and her lips were trademark red.

A black embroidered Prada clutch completed the look.

Looks like I might be re-gigging my BDOTY list again. This look is totally flawless.

On Saturday night Gwen Stefani arrived with her boys for the formal artist’s dinner for the Kennedy Center Honors at the United States Department of State in Washington, D.C.

She graced the red carpet wearing a Rafael Cennamo Resort 2011 gown.

Her strapless fan appliqué trumpet gown was perfectly styled with her trademark red lips and corkscrew curls.

I haven’t been a fan of Gwen red carpet looks for a while and here she gives us two amazing looks in two days.

I love them both but the Prada is to-die-for.
