Best Dressed Of The Week – Ni Ni In Christian Dior & Florence Welch In Gucci

The lead for BDOTW changed several times over the weekend, but you eventually opted for Ni Ni in Christian Dior.

Ni Ni looked so statuesque, seven foot tall someone said, wearing the gorgeous Dior ensemble. What this look did was make us appreciate this Fall 2012 collection, which was instantly dismissed by some of us because it wasn’t designed by Galliano.

My pick was Florence Welch in Gucci.

I love the rich purple hue against porcelain skin and flame red hair.

We aren’t used to seeing this style of dress from Florence, so the rare step out of her comfort zone was very refreshing.

This look also proves that the working relationship between Florence and Frida Giannini continues to be a match made in fashion heaven.

Florence Welch In Gucci – LACMA 2012 Art + Film Gala

Florence Welch was of course in attendance for the LACMA 2012 Art + Film Gala honoring Ed Ruscha and Stanley Kubrick in LA on Saturday evening hosted by Gucci, where she also performed.

Frida’s favourite gal wore a gorgeous purple custom made Gucci gown with a plunging neckline and sheer sleeves.

This more streamlined look is a departure from the free-flowing gowns we are used to seeing from Florence, and I’m happy to see the singer pull if off with great aplomb.

The British singer styled her belted look with a Gucci chain accented bag from the Fall 2012 collection along with yellow gold Diamantissima Gucci earrings plus a yellow gold Horsebit headband and an yellow gold Bamboo headband on top of her braided updo.

Florence Welch In Gucci – Florence And The Machine Florida Concert

Florence Welch of ‘Florence and the Machine’ performed barefoot at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida, on Wednesday evening.

Frida Giannini’s muse wore a look from the Gucci Fall 2012 collection, which we’ve seen her wear once before.

On this occasion her glamorous black-and-burgundy gown with knife-pleated ruffles and an asymmetrical neckline had a feather-and-floral print.

As always the gown is as dramatic as her performance.

Gucci To Dress Florence Welch For ‘Ceremonials’ Tour

Florence Welch and her band Florence + the Machine kick-start their ‘Ceremonials’ tour this evening in Boston, US, which will see them visit North America, then Europe.

For the second year in a row, Gucci will provide their number one girl with stunning gowns to wear on stage from the Fall/Winter collection designed by Creative Director Frida Giannini.

Giannini said, “Seeing Florence evolve as an artist since her last tour has been truly inspiring, and I was delighted to work with her on this new wardrobe. For her on-stage style, we wanted to create a romantic yet modern aesthetic for Florence to interpret with her dark glamour and dramatic sensuality. I am looking forward to the show as Florence always puts an enchanting energy into every performance.”

Welch added, “I was immediately drawn to the drama of the collection when I first saw it on the runway. I am so grateful to Frida and feel very fortunate to be collaborating with Gucci once again.”

Florence Welch In Gucci – Out In London

Florence Welch assured us once again of her love of prints while out and about in London yesterday.

The singer chose a pair of pleated trousers and an Oshibana print silk blouse from the Gucci Pre-Fall 2012 collection for her excursion.

I love how the soft colours match her skin tone, while the floral pansy print enhances the ethereal quality she is known for.

A beautiful pair of tan sandals and a bamboo top handle bag – also by Gucci – finish off the look.

Florence Welch In Miu Miu – ‘Women’s Tales’ Venice Film Festival Premiere

Florence Welch attended the 2012 Venice Film Festival premiere for ‘Women’s Tales’ at Sala Darsena in Venice, Italy this evening.

My first reaction to her Miu Miu Fall 2012 look was total horror, but when I let it marinade for a few minutes, I found myself liking it.

Loud contrasting prints aren’t anything we haven’t seen before from Florence Welch, and considering she appears to live in kaftans and floaty gowns, I guess she needed to switch things up.

While this look doesn’t live up to the stunning gowns we’ve seen so far at this festival, I can’t see anyone else pulling off this look with such finesse.

Can you?

Miu Miu accessories including black pumps with a contrasting heel and a purple quilted clutch completed her look.

Love or loathe?
