Corinne Bailey Rae In Miu Miu – 2013 Brit Awards

Corinne Bailey Rae In Miu Miu - 2013 Brit Awards

With so many sexy gowns with plunging necklines, embellishments and sheer panels, Corinne Bailey Rae went in the opposite direction for the 2013 Brit Awards this evening, which was held at the O2 Arena in London.

The British singer opted for a minimalist look, sporting a Miu Miu Spring 2013 dress.

Her metallic rose-pink three-quarter-sleeve dress, which is purposely creased, was accented with a thin leather belt and styled with red pumps.

I love the simplicity of this look just as much as the va-va-voom Berenice Marlohe was serving on the red carpet. Even though it’s not as grand, it suits her style without being too aging *coughs-Gemma-Arterton-coughs*.

I wasn’t expecting much from this event, so I am pleasantly surprised that I liked most of the looks.

Corinne Bailey Rae In Sophie Theallet – Friars Club and Friars Foundation Honor of Tom Cruise

Corinne Bailey Rae attended the Friars Club and Friars Foundation Honor of Tom Cruise on Tuesday which was held at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City.

The British singer wore a custom Sophie Theallet dress.

Her copper silk draped dress has a pink strap plus a pink layered asymmetrical hemline.

I didn’t like the dress to begin with anyway, but the styling really lets her down.

The black peep-toes, although really nice, don’t work with her dress.

I also find the bright pink lip too obvious and jarring on this occasion.

She should’ve opted for a colour less bubble pink and more complementary to her orange dress and skin tone.

A rare no for Corinne from me.

Louis Vuitton – Marc Jacobs: The Exhibition Red Carpet Round Up

Many other stars attended ‘Louis Vuitton – Marc Jacobs: The Exhibition’ in Paris yesterday wearing the same Louis Vuitton Spring 2012 silver toe-cap shoes in different colours.

Kristen Stewart: Following her front-row appearance at Balenciaga wearing leather pants, Kristen went back to her red-carpet comfort zone by donning a mini dress. The animal-print frock was teamed with white LV pumps and a purposely messy hairstyle.

Gwyneth Paltrow: The actress kept her looks cool, chic and laidback wearing a black Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2012 suit with satin lapels. Her toe-cap heels were studded, just to stand out from the crowd. I love her look, but I don’t like the flare on her cropped pants.

Corinne Bailey Rae: The British singer wore an LV Spring 2012 lemon-and-mustard look. I’m really curious to see the dress she wore under her embroidered coat. Toe-cap pumps and a Louis Vuitton ‘Minaudiére Bijou’ completed her look.

Corinne Bailey Rae In Christian Siriano – 2012 Grammy Awards

Corinne Bailey Rae was already a winner when she hit the red carpet at the 2012 Grammy Awards, taking home ‘Best R&B Performance’ in the pre-telecast awards.

The British singer chose a black Christian Siriano Fall 2011 dress with a voluminous, textured skirt associated with the young designer.

Her detailed dress somehow doesn’t overpower the singer’s petite frame, but her curly, side-swept hair does.

Such a standout dress would have been better off with a sleeker ‘do.

Black studded Christian Siriano for Payless pumps and a deep berry lip colour completed the look.

Corinne Bailey Rae In Marni – Hyundai and The GRAMMY’s RE:GENERATION MUSIC PROJECT World Premiere

With the 2012 Grammy Awards taking place tomorrow, all the big music stars are in LA for the big event.

Corinne Bailey Rae attended Hyundai and The GRAMMY’s RE:GENERATION MUSIC PROJECT World Premiere at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, California yesterday.

The British singer wore a head-to-toe Marni Spring 2012 look.

Her quirky look included a green top with a cut-out detail which she paired with a matching green skirt with a sheer slip.

Black Marni platform sandals completed her look.

At first I was longing for some accessories like Marni resin bracelets, but I think this minimalist approach works perfectly for her sense of style.

Who Wore Costello Tagliapietra Better? Corinne Bailey Rae or Busy Philipps

Corinne Bailey Rae attended the Costello Tagliapietra Spring 2012 presentation wearing a kimono-style dress from their Fall 2011 collection.

The British singer teamed her chic dress with on-trend mustard pumps.
Her signature voluminous curly hair completed her look.

‘Cougar Town’ actress Busy Philipps wore a shorter version of the same dress to the 2011 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund event in LA last week.

A simple ponytail and nude Christian Louboutin peep-toes completed the look.

Corinne wins for me, as I prefer her shoe choice and the original length of the dress.

Who Wore Alice + Olivia Better? Corrine Bailey Rae or Estelle

Corrine Bailey Rae attended Christian Siriano’s Spring 2012 presentation which was held at The Vault during New York Fashion Week earlier this month.

She looked beautiful wearing an Alice + Olivia colour-block maxi dress with long sleeves and diagonal panels in contrasting black and grey colours.

The singer accessorized with a tan chain strap bag and a thin leather belt.

Soft makeup completed her look.

Estelle wore the same dress in a red and black colour combination when she attended the Us Weekly’s 25 Most Stylish New Yorkers of 2011 event at Penthouse in New York, a few days later.

The singer accessorized her look with a wide black leather belt, a small black clutch, a cuff bracelet and purple pointed-toe platform heels.

She also added a fun pair of gold earrings with black stones and an oversized cocktail ring to her look.

My vote is going to Estelle. I love her bold ensemble and how her red hair and lips complement the dress. I also prefer how she added fun accessories.

You can buy this colour-block Alice + Olivia dress from Bloomingdale’s in black and white or Shopbop.com in red and black.
