The Narciso Rodriguez Fall 2009 collection, was not what I expected.

I have become so used to the criss cross signature dresses, I expected more variations. There were faint touches of this signature, but without the black detailing.

The theme was urban warrior, hence the bullet belts, camouflage fatigue, and the open balaclava’s.

What contradicted the urban warrior theme, were the bright colours of yellow and pink, which were referred to in the notes as, highlighter pink and yellow.

Cocktail dresses, bandages dress, jackets, pants and coats were all presented in mostly dark or neutral colours.

With the lack of red carpet gowns, I got my buzz from the cocktail dresses. My favourites were the gorgeous red and green cocktail dresses, which were camouflage-esqe with a black lace overlay.

This was a very enjoyable collection, which I would like to at movie screenings, premiere’s, parties and openings.

I just wonder who will be first to wear this collection. Claire Danes or Rachel Weisz.

The way the runway was layout was really interesting.

The lead model would cross over to the adjacent runway, whilst a following model would catch up, and they would meet at the end of the runway to pose for the photographers.

I wasn’t sure if you would get my drift, so I taped some of the action.

As I said in my previous post, Claire Danes wore a Spring 2009 green dress, with black criss cross details. What can I say other than stunning.

This collection was a mixture of loud pinks, lime greens and a lot of black.

The signature criss cross were not as evident as in previous collections.
Batman hats were surprising, and bullet belts featured.
Claire Danes was in the front row wearing a gorgeous green criss cross Spring 2009 Narciso Rodriguez dress, sitting next a very handsome man…*drooling*
Kanye West, Tory Burch, Carine Roitfeld and Julianna Margulies were all in the front row.

The show just ended and it was amazing. Quite dark and Gothic-esqe, with Balmain-inspired square shoulders like at Herve Leger. Turtle necks and lace featured heavily..

In the front row was Coco Rocha. She is still a red head and she was wearing this seasons colour electric blue.

Rachel Bilson looked stunning wearing a one-sleeved Max Aria coral dress.

Others in the front row included – surprisingly – Armani favourite Alicia Keys.

Joy Bryant, Keisha Whitaker in a taupe dress and the gorgeous Aisha Taylor is a gorgeous summery dress.

Onto the next show. I’ll write more later.

Excuse typos, writing from my crackberry.

Diane von Furstenberg’s Fall 2009 collection mixed and matched patterns, knits and textures.

There were lots of prints, metallics, oversized cardigans, tunics, leggings and my favourite part of the collection was the pom-poms hats.

I don’t think we will see many of these pieces on the red carpet, but I am sure many pieces will end up in our closets..

Reem Acra’s Fall 2009
collection looked my idea of heaven. Gorgeous gowns, rich colours, and delicate embellishments.

I see so many Oscar potential gowns from this collection, as Reem is very much the go to person for red carpet glamour. We have seen that at the SAG Awards, and many other ceremonies this season.

Actresses will go gaga over the gorgeous draped designs of chiffons and silk satins in an array of colours from eggplant, teal blue, champagne, taupe, brown and black.

Lela Rose

Kellie Pickler started off very slow this Fashion Week, but she has now got into her stride and is looking fabulous.

Her best look of the week so far, came at the Lela Rose show, were she wore a taffeta teal Lela Rose Spring 2009 dress.

The detail on the bodice is exquisite.

Jennifer Love Hewitt paired a gold Lela Rose neckline embellished dress, with a navy cardi.

Her cute look was completed with a pair of nude Christian Louboutin pumps.

Brittany Snow looked cute in her Lela Rose Spring 2009 ensemble. I love the detail on the skirt, and the collar on the haltered top.

Diane Von Furstenberg

Heidi Klum’s multi-coloured striped shimmering Diane von Furstenberg Spring 2009 dress, which she paired with a large striped belt was gorgeous, but I am so tired of YSL Trib Two’s worn with everything.

Zoe Saldana opted for a white Diane von Furstenberg Pre-Fall 2009 dress with a watercolour floral print. Her silver heels were outstanding.

I would have expected a brighter colour from Katharine McPhee, but she opted for a black and white Diane von Furstenberg Spring 2009 tunic dress.

Donna Karan

Mary Alice Stephenson wore a LBD, but made it more interesting with a large statement necklace, a snake skin clutch and a fur collared coat.

Molly Sims looked stunning wearing a black one-shoulder Donna Karan dress with a gold statement necklace and a black Nancy Gonzalez clutch.

Preen

Roisin Murphy wore a sexy Preen Spring 2009 LBD, with a funky ‘do, then she pores cold water over the whole look by wearing a cardigan.

Reem Acra

Sophia Bush wore a rich two-toned purple Reem Acra dress, from the Fall 2008 collection, which were worn with YSL Trib Two’s.

Lily Collins opted for a lace frock, with gold heels.

Carlos Miele’s Spring 2009 collection saw me seated behind Suzy Menkes of the International Herald Tribune, and directly opposite French Vogue editor, Carine Roitfeld.

With such high profile fashion figures in the room, I anticipated a great show, and I wasn’t let down.

The show started with Max Decastro, playing guitar on the runway. At many points during the show, I was worried he might collide with the models, but this didn’t happen.

With the tunes playing in the background, the show was very energetic and upbeat.

There was lots of colour and sleek silhouettes. Reds, taupes, blacks and lime greens were presented. Prints also featured heavily, which added another dimension to the collection.

Boleros were featured with gowns, in knit, fur, and pleated chiffon.

I loved the gowns, but I was equally blown away with the cocktail dresses. My favourite was a ruched taupe mini dress with on long sleeve, and on that shoulder was a gorgeous sparkly cluster of embellishments.

The collection had amazing workmanship, and I can see many of the gowns presented ending up on the red carpet. I particularly loved the black gown, with the embellished detail on the hip.

Here are some of my better pictures.

Katharine McPhee seemed to be very interested in the collection. She arrived at the show wearing a nude high-collared corduroy dress, under a black blazer and a black belt to nip in her waist.

I like the shoes and the blazer. The Spring 2009 dress? not so much on her. It looked better on the runway.

Carolina Herrera’s Fall 2009 presentation was everything you would expect.

Glamourous, sophisticated, elegant and rich in both colour and textures.

Carolina presented many dresses, pant suits and gowns which were breathtakingly beautiful. The fabric that immediately jumped out was bronze jacquard, but lace, suede and silks were also used. The amazing mix help the clothes shimmer and sparkle, without any bling.

The room was pitch black, with only two spotlights focusing on the entering and exiting models.

They walked very fast, and for me it was very hard to digest the collection. As I was thinking “that would look great on…” then next model was whizzing by.

The collection came out in blocks of colours. First up was the copper bronzes, followed by green, taupe, black, and the rich colours of blue and violet.

The silhouette concentrated on the waist, and elongating the female form, with slim pants and narrow skirts.

The gowns were stunning. I particular liked the one that begins to flare at the knee and ends with a full, rounded, layered hem, and the blue and purple floral chiffon gown with one cold shoulder.

Here are my crappy pictures.

I did not seen any celebs, but I did see two designers. Christian Siriano and Tory Burch.
