Moschino Fall 2012

Moschino presentations are always fun and quirky, which is just what you need to pick you up at a 9am show when your coffee hasn’t kicked in.

The theme for Fall 2012 was military with some biker and cowgirl references mixed in.

On a colour palette of mostly black and white, we also saw scarlet red, canary yellow, electric blue and fuchsia pink.

We saw short, flirty dresses, coats with military epaulettes and brass gold buttons, tri-colour biker jackets, capes which could be worn as dresses, 60s style lady-like dresses, plus plenty of feathers, ruffles and quilting.

The models were styled either with Stetsons or a big black bow, plus they were dripping in gold jewels.

Key accessories included studded or quilted bags, bi-colour backpacks with gold hardware, cute fanny packs and leather ankle boots with gold detailing.

Fendi Fall 2012

Fendi’s Fall 2012 collection was presented on a colour palette of deep greens, soft browns, wine reds and Big Bird yellow.

Karl Lagerfeld presented furs, crocodile and ostrich skin on coats, dresses and skirts, and sometimes they were all featured in one look.

Alongside the oversized coats we saw wide corset belts, pleated skirts, jackets with peaked shoulders, goat-fur sweaters, textured skirts and sheer blouses.

Key accessories included a fur-lined iPad case, the new FFXL bags and shoes in contrasting textures which were button, feathered with fur or laced.

Peter Philips gave the models white wings via their lids and Sam McKnight styled their hair into twisted tresses which had a tribal/Victorian feel to them.

No. 21 Fall 2012

Alessandro Dell’Acqua’s No. 21 Fall 2012 collection produced an extreme mixture of looks that I can’t wait to see on the likes of Diane Kruger and Zoe Saldana.

On the one hand we saw sexy ultra-feminine lightweight dresses with peek-a-boo bras and negligees, and on the other hand sporty tweed military-inspired layered pieces which are perfect for someone like Alexa Chung.

The designer cited Queen Elizabeth in her private life, gardening in the country as his inspiration – done in a contemporary way of course.

Apart from the dresses we saw boxy coats, bejewelled skirts, slouchy tweed pants and layered tops.

Key accessories included oversized embellished leather gloves and a newly launched footwear venture for the designer who served up ankle-strap peep-toes and pumps.

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Diane Kruger, Zoe Saldana, Alexa Chung, Rooney Mara and Anna Paquin

Alberta Ferretti Fall 2012

I was seduced by the glamour on display during Alberta Ferretti’s Fall 2012 runway presentation.

Models with sleek centre-parted buns showcased simple chic looks on a colour palette of black, white, deep purple and pops of royal blue which had seductive silhouettes.

I loved the masculine overtones to the tailored suits and outerwear which was in total contrast to the pretty dresses, floaty gowns and the chunky knits which you have to fasten up from the back.

Unlike the previous collection, the knee-length dresses will not take you from day to night as they had sensual lace panels and sexy cuts-outs.

Oscar and Cannes-worthy gowns made up the finale of looks. They were mostly black, sexy and sheer with purple gowns in the mix, plus a bridal-esque white gown closed the show.

I would love to see look 39 on Oscar night.

Gucci Fall 2012

Frida Giannini created an opulent, romantic collection in dark, sensual hues with a velvety feel for Gucci’s Fall 2012 collection, which opened Milan Fashion Week.

The venue was pitch black but for a spotlight on the model taking to the runway wearing the dark, decadent pieces.

Jackets, velvet skirts, fitted long-sleeve dresses, oversized cropped leather jackets, sweaters and sheer lace-up blouses kick-started the presentation. Some had military accents, but the vibe was fearless femininity rather than androgynous chic.

Midway through the presentation we saw glimpses of colour via the floral prints on a maxi dress and chic PJs, before moving onto deep berry, sapphire blue and forest green.

For evening wear, Frida returned back to black to present a collection of billowing chiffon gowns luxuriously embellished with micro crystals and sequins in a beautiful floral pattern.

I’m pretty sure we will see Florence Welch wearing one of the finale dresses before the first buds of spring.

Key accessories included bejewelled bow-shaped hair clips, suede peep-toe ankle boots, leather satchels, crocodile saddlebags and flat riding boots.

My Milan Fashion Week – Highs & Lows

I’m in Paris for the final stop on the Spring 2012 tour bus, so here are my highs and lows from Milano.

Here are my top 11 looks from the shows I attended. If Zoe Saldana’s stylist is reading, please dress her in that stunning Ferragamo dress above. I beg you. *Sings* “If I had one wish…..”

Top 5 Shows: Ferragamo, Jil Sander, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace & Alberta Ferretti

Best Production & Best for Top Models: Dolce & Gabbana

Magic Moment: Watching Anna Wintour almost knock a security guard to the floor as she made a mad dash to leave after Dolce & Gabbana. Had she been 10lbs heavier, he would have hit the deck.

Funniest Conversation:
Me: I saw Abbey Lee Kershaw and Karlie Kloss at breakfast this morning.
Bryanboy: WHAT?? They eat?
Me: Yes, of course they do.
Bryanboy: I bet they don’t eat any of that fried sh!t.

Dolce & Gabbana: I had previously requested Dolce & Gabbana, but this season I got my first invites. They not only gave me invites to both shows, but they also gave me front row seats. I was also granted access to the VIP room and backstage.

Biggest Topics of Conversation:
1. Arizona’s strange walk. (Conclusion: It looks strange because she has shorter legs than the other models.)
2. Why wasn’t Karlie Kloss in the Versace show? She would have killed it. (Conclusion: she must have been obligated to attend another show.)

Vogue Italia: They featured my Topshop jumpsuit as the Look Of The Day during Milan Fashion Week.

Karlie Kloss: Abbey Lee Kershaw (who is hero worshipped by the other models), Joan Smalls and Karlie Kloss were all at my hotel. I have a mild obsession with Karlie Kloss, so I was chuffed to discover that she is really nice in person. The same can’t be said for Miss Naomi Campbell Jr.
