Dolce and Gabbana’s Spring 2009 collection took dressing for the bedroom, to the runway, as models walked the runway in men’s silk pyjamas, which sounds ridiculous, but as you can see, worked beautifully.

There were a lots of geometric shapes. Circles and rectangles exaggerated hips and shoulders of many satin dresses, blouses and jackets.

Also on display were hot pants, wide palazzo pants, pencil skirts and cocktail jackets.

The finale gowns were adorned with beautiful roses, which reminded me of giant bouquets. I would like to see them on the red carpet, but I fear they may only be confined to the pages of magazines.

Click here to watch the whole runway show.

Jennifer Lopez look magnificent wearing a classic Dolce & Gabbana corseted dress, which hugged her post-baby curves.

I love how the lines on the dress narrow to the middle, giving her a more slender silhouette.

Dita von Teese matched her maroon belt with her heels, as she wore a fur-print Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2008 turtle-neck dress with puffy sleeves.

It is not often we see such a high neckline on Dita.

Eva Herzigova’s Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2008 dress also had a high neck-line. Her chocolate lace dress, was worn with tan booties and a tan belt.

I am not quite sure the red lips work with this look, but everything else is perfection.

Petra Nemcova totally surprised me with this Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2008 baker boy look.

I love her 3 piece tweed suit with pegged trousers, and a baker hat, because this look was not predictable, and Petra’s red carpet look is always very predictable.

Roisin Murphy did not go for the LookBook #24, like the others did, she mix it up wearing a grey cardigan over a pussy blouse and a grey skirt from the Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2008.

The edgy star added some very funky turquoise trim glasses, to remind us she does not follow the herd.

Rachel Zoe who is responsible for Anne Hathaway’s stunning transformation, was hopefully picking pieces from this collection for her clients, who also include Cameron Diaz.

The uber stylist wore a multi-coloured silk multi-printed Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2008 dress, with YSL Trib Two Platform Pumps.

Claudia Schiffer opted for a white sheath dress with a ruffled panel down the front.

I must say I am very disappointed she did not pick one of the more dramatic pieces from the Fall 2008 collection like Eva and Dita.

I hate sunglasses indoors, it smacks of self importance.

Camilla Alves keep it very simple with a white ruffled blouse and black pants.

Gucci’s Spring 2009 collection had many maxi dresses, some with geometric prints. Also on display were very feminine military dresses, suits with low-slung pants, leggy micro caftans in bold prints and sexy safari looks.

For the evening Frida presented silk jersey and chiffon gown, some of which were embellished with jewels. My favourite was the lilac gown Chanel Iman wore. She became the first black woman to walk for Gucci, since Tom Ford was Creative Director in 2005.

Rihanna was in the front row wearing a black Gucci Fall 2008 halter dress, with Gucci Devendra over-the-knee boots. Her boots are very much on the fringe trend of this season.

The singer who was named the spokesperson for the brand earlier this year, is rumoured to be co-designing a gown for a future Gucci collection.

Anna Wintour was also in the front row, flouting the unwritten rule to wear clothes of the designers show you are attending – as she can – by wearing a coral and turquoise Oscar de la Renta Resort 2009 tweed dress.

Roberto Cavalli Spring 2009 collection was full of what we have come to expect from the designer: bold prints and long flowing dresses.

The flowing silk chiffon dresses in powder blue and candy floss pink, were so light that they billowed as the models walked down the runway. Surprisingly some of these dresses had very high necklines.

He also presented peasant blouses, micro minis dresses with fitted bustier tops and skirts with stiff ruffles or mini pleats.

There was also a lot of black. Black dresses with cut-outs, maxis, pant suits and jumpsuits.

Kelly Rowland was in the front row, wearing a plunging maroon Roberto Cavalli halter, with a gold brooch on the empire line.

The now London based singer, wore her dress with matching sandals.

Missoni Spring 2009 collection was a kaleidoscope of different shades, tones and styles.

The colour palette mixed pink, gold, blue and yellow, as Missoni presented in palazzo pants, summer dresses, high-waisted straight skirts and silk blouses, many accessorised with chunky belts.

The evening gowns were adored with studded detail, to give them added flair.

The none surprising item was a strapless jumpsuit, to further prove that this trend is not going anywhere anytime soon.

Of course there were plenty of knits and prints to keep the Missoni faithful happy.

Burberry Prorsum’s Spring 2009 collection had a strangely autumn/fall feel to it, with shades of grey, brown, and bronze. We had the worst English summer in history, so it is not surprising that designer Christopher Bailey was not inspired to create pieces with bright colours associated with Spring.

Agyness Deyn walked the runway which put any rumours of a fall out after her being dropped from the Fall advertising campaign to rest.

Hats, Barbour-style hunting jackets, skinny cardigans, drop-waist dresses made up this collection. What I particularly loved was the modern takes on the classic trench coats with ombre detailing, and the metallic pieces.

I am not sure this collection will appeal to everyone. Maybe you have to be British to get the subtle irony of this “Spring” collection, but looking at it made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

The accessories were oversized, including the statement necklaces which Christopher also presented in his Fall 2008 collection. I also love the socks in the pumps combo.

Prada’s Spring 2009 collection might me one that will grow on me in time, much like the Fall 2008 lace collection.

There was a lot of flesh baring, with cropped tops, bra tops and key hole dresses and a lot of the pieces were crumpled, which will save time ironing.

Shrunken jackets had no fasteners except a tie at the neck. Open backs on cashmere jumpers were tied with cotton strings like hospital gowns.

Unfortunately I was not as excited by this collection as I hoped I would be, although I did like the sexy secretary silhouettes and the python prints.

The models seemed to have a problem with the shoes, as two took a tumble on the runway.

I am sure Charlize Theron or Nicole Kidman will wear a piece from this collection and I will instantly fall in love with it a few months from now.

Giorgio Armani Spring 2009 collection was full of luxe fabrics of organza and chiffon, with a colour palette of light and pastel shades of sandy beige to sea shell brown.

The designer presented a mixed collection of romantic above-the-knee dresses, ankle-length gowns, Bermuda shorts and slim pants.

Signature pieces like tuxedo/blazers were given a modern touch, with asymmetrical buttoning. Dresses were either strapless or layered with petals.

Red carpet dresses were admired by Armani faithful Cate Blanchett, who like Renee Zellweger, was no doubt shopping for her next red carpet gown.

*Sigh*

With her effortless beauty, my number one girl crush Cate Blanchett, as expected, was in the front row for Armani’s Spring 2009 collection.

Looking better than ever wearing an Armani Privé ensemble, with a bow, which was very much a the signature of the Armani Privé Fall 2008 collection. Looking at Cate, it is easy to see why this collaboration between actress and designer works so well.

Solange Knowles opted for a very classy Giorgio Armani Pre-Fall 2008 suit, with a checked blazer and black velvet pants. The look was perfect with her Armani Privé heels, the multi-coloured layered pearls, but Solange would not be Solange if she did not ruin perfection, so she did so by wearing pink knuckle dusters.

Why? I have absolutely no idea.

Emporio Armani Spring 2009 collection had a colour palette of in navy and white, with shades of grey here and there. The trousers picked up on the trend from New York Fashion Week, and were either either cigarette pants or harem-inspired.

Blouses and dresses were adorned with large statement necklaces, which is very much a Fall 2008 trend, which looks set to be a Spring 2009 trend.

Solange, was lucky enough to wear another Armani piece, and this time she ruined it with a ridiculous feathered thing on her head.

If only she would stop trying so desperately hard.

Giorgio Armani Boutique Opening Cocktail Party

Cate opted for a simple LBD with Prive heels.

Solange finally took it down a notch or 12, when she wore this classic black Giorigo Armani Fall 2008 dress, with exaggerated hips. She accessorized with a large statement necklace, and a blue clutch.

Fendi’s Fall 2008 collection was filled with luxurious and fluffy fur coats and wide-belts.

Also on display were knits, feathers, wool. Turtleneck dresses, ruffled leather jackets, and heavy knit sweaters were all cinched at the waist with masculine belts and cocoon coats.

The colour palette was most black with a few chocolate and white whites included.

I adore the belted furs, they look so luxurious, but I would be too scared to wear them in case I get hounded by PETA.

Rihanna attended the Fendi Party last night wearing a black dress and Giambattista Valli shoes.

Jessica Alba also attended wearing the same Fendi dress that both Eva Mendes and Keisha Whitaker have already worn.

Claudia Schiffer looks a bit dull in all black.

Masculinity was a key theme within Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall 2008 collection. This was seen in tailored vests, three-piece suits in tweed and corduroy, and page-boy caps.

Corduroy skirts and pants, as well as plaid shirts and pants gave a country feel.

For a finale, models wore billowing netted tulle skirts with swathes of tweed, silk and knitted wool wrapped over them.

There did not appear to be a specific them to Versace Fall 2008 show, but I did feel that the glamour was very understated. There was not the usual over-the-top bling pieces – which I always love.

There were many voluminous cropped coats, mid-calf skirts, silk trousers and asymmetrical dresses.

Donatella produced many the one-shouldered gowns in steel grey, baby blue, purple, fuschia and blush. Hopefully we will see those dresses on Sunday.

Gucci Fall 2008 collection has a very gypsy-esque, boho, hippie vibe to it with the tapestry bags, frills and tassels all featured, alongside studded suede ankle boots, leather belts and over-the-knee leather riding boots.

There were lots of accents on shoulders and hems, drop-waisted flapper dresses had bold prints and many pieces had low-slung scarfs as belts.

This was a very strong and sexy collection.

I was very confused when I first saw this Roberto Cavall Fall 2008 collection, as there were many of the floral romantic gowns from Roberto Cavalli Spring 2008 collection.

A strong floral theme ran through the whole collection, with embroidered flowers on summer dresses, black evening corsets, and coats.
