MORE FROM RED CARPET FASHION AWARDS:

Kerry Washington was very much part of awards season, both as a presenter at many of the major events, and as a nominee for a SAG Award and Golden Globe Award for her performance in ‘Scandal’.
With so many celebs expecting this year, maternity style is taking centre stage on the red carpet right now.
While Olivia Wilde has been knocking it out of the fashion ballpark, going from fitted in Gucci to bump-concealing in Valentino, Kerry’s style has in some cases been frankly disappointing and not on a par with the fashionista we all know and love.
She started awards season glowing in Balenciaga at the Golden Globe Awards, then gorgeous at the SAG Awards nominees party, but at the main event she left me baffled by her Prada choice. It is one thing to show off your bump proudly, but on this occasion the look was highly unflattering.
An awkward yet pretty Oscar de la Renta dress followed, with a beautiful Thakoon custom look at the NAACP Image Awards, and as pretty as the Jason Wu was at the Oscars, the creases took the sheen off this look.
My favourite, looking back, was the Balenciaga, followed by the Thakoon.

Looking back on Jennifer Lawrence’s awards season, my reaction was “was that it?”
We expected a Dior fest, but it just dawned on me that she only attended four events.
Starting with the much-ridiculed Golden Globes Couture gown (which I found myself warming to), she then moved on to my favourite, her SAG Awards Couture gown, before ending with a so-so Couture gown at the Oscars and a sparkling Tom Ford number at the Vanity Fair party.
Despite the short run, was it better than last season?
I would say it’s six of one and half a dozen of the other; however, none of these looks comes close to her Oscars Dior Couture gown of 2013.

Sandra Bullock was also one of our ones to watch during awards season following an epic run promoting ‘Gravity’. From the comments, I get the feeling she didn’t quite live up to expectations.
She kick-started her season by wearing two back-to-back Burberry Prorsum fairly laidback looks before hitting the red carpet in a Prabal Gurung Pre-Fall 2014 look which, despite its boldness, didn’t go down too well.
By the time the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards came around, it looked like the theme for the rest of the season was strapless, as after this event she went on to wear a further four strapless looks.
While not a single look blew me away or broke me out in goosebumps, the McQueen, the Roland Mouret and the green Lanvin at the SAG Awards stood out.
My favourite? The McQueen.

Amy Adams ditched the expected enchanting gowns for a sleeker look this awards season.
Favouring London-based designers, she rocked Roksanda Ilincic, Victoria Beckham, Roland Mouret and Antonio Berardi with breathtaking results.
She was at her best when working an old-Hollywood glam look. I just love the regal vibe from her Antonio Berardi gown, which was my favourite this awards season closely followed by her Valentino Couture Golden Globes gown and her Gucci Premiere Oscars gown.
The only looks I wasn’t too fond of were her Victoria Beckham BAFTA gown and, looking back, her Carolina Herrera Vanity Fair gown lacked fizz.
