Providing us with yet another fresh take on menswear, Robert Downey Jr. took to the red carpet this evening for the ‘Iron Man 3′ Seoul premiere, held at Times Square in South Korea.
While the colours were traditional, this Vivienne Westwood Fall 2013 tuxedo was anything but.
He wore a black-and-white shawl collar tuxedo jacket which complemented his part-wool, part-satin pants.
Adding another quirk to his look, the actor wore his suit with a white shirt featuring black tips on the collar.
Of course his look wouldn’t be complete without sneakers and even those were toned down, by his standards, on this occasion.
Do you like RDJ’s contemporary interpretation of the classic tux? Should he have worn a black shirt as presented on the runway?

Only RDJ!
It looks cool on the model but with the fit, trainers, shirt choice and pose it looks sloppy on RDJ. I know it’s a blockbuster but I wish he’d wear shoes for once.
Love the tuxedo on the model. The black shirt looks better too.
Love this. Very refreshing take on the tuxedo. It’s fun to see a man taking risks.

Much as I like Vivienne Westwood, I don’t like this look. The pants are ugly and unflattering, I’m not a fan of those sneakers and the jacket doesn’t work with its white lapels against a white shirt. Your suggestion is best, Catherine – the runway black shirt is much preferable.

I prefer this to his previous look.
I think I would’ve preferred the black shirt but overall, I love his quirky style 😉
Maybe Spiked Louboutins could look better, im not against tuxedo-sneakers but those are ugly. The tuxedo is beautiful BTW
Yes, another kind of quirky shoes would have been more fun. Even a more polished type of sneaker would have been better.
Still like him thought 🙂
