Spotlighting: Riot Swim

Did you know black women-owned businesses represented the highest rate of growth over the last 5 years?

Or that 42% of new businesses were started by black women? *According to the 2019 State of Women-Owned Businesses Report.

One of those success stories is Riot Swim.

I have followed Riot Swim since last year when I was looking for new swimwear; specifically from independent labels.

I was mostly drawn to the brand for its diverse range of ethnicities and body types on their Instagram page, because we all know what a bikini or swimsuit looks like on someone with a Gisele Bündchen type figure, but we also want to see what our choice of swimwear will look like on our bodies – with stretch marks and hip dips.

Riot Swim is a fairly new brand, founded by model Monti Landers in 2016.

The swimsuits range from family-friendly to sexy high-waisted bikinis and one-pieces in a select colour palette of mostly neutrals, with a pops of green, blue, lavender and lime.

My favourites are definitely the Echo one piece in kiwi which sits high on the hips to give you that look of endless legs, plus it could also double as a bodysuit.

I’m also a big fan of the Maddox one-piece, which, like the Echo, is a little cheeky from behind.

These pieces tend to sell out really fast, but they have opened a pre-order for their most popular pieces.

Be sure check out Riot Swim and follow them on Instagram.

Maddox Swimsuit is sooo sexy! I probably “heard” about Riot Swim because it’s one of those brands that became “instapopular”.

The fact that women started so many business is great! As a woman who is starting her own business, I’m happy that more and more women are doing this.
I’m white and I can only imagine how difficult must be for black women, in a world full or racism.

    Go female entrepreneurs! 🙂
