Marc Jacobs Loves His Comme des Garçons Dresses

We’ve seen Marc Jacobs don kilts several times, but yesterday he wore two Comme des Garçons Spring 2012 dresses.

The first black dress was worn when he took his bow for Louis Vuitton after his Fall 2012 presentation, the second time he wore pink whilst attending the ‘Louis Vuitton – Marc Jacobs: The Exhibition’ that same evening.

Both Comme des Garçons t-shirt dresses were paired with black pirate shoes with an embellished buckle from his Marc Jacobs Fall 2012 collection.

Kanye West has been known to rock a kilt.

Is a dress next on his agenda too?

I have no problem with it as a men, i’m not quite as comfortable enough to don a dress in public. Each to his own as my gran always said. Anyway why can’t a man wear a dress or skirt if he wants to, life is too damn short. Do what ever you want. However Marc darling those shoes are not doing anything for me, Halloween is the only time I’d wear those shoe and maybe St.Pattys Day. they probably cost a small fortune, lol.

Normally I think of me as a open mind. But this just made me… ugh. I don’t even know why he has to dress like this. He looks more funny than fashionable. Sad

  3. chris March 10, 2012 at 15:04 #

as most of you’ve already said,he should have worn a different type of underwear.i much prefer the black dress on him…

  4. Anita March 9, 2012 at 12:53 #

Marc should know better with his undergarments! And black is much better, the pink is def not his shade. Did not like the styling on the pink dress. TOO FUNNY!

But Marc’s clever, he got the publicity that he wanted.

  5. beta March 9, 2012 at 11:34 #

yes, he said it in his twitter… 😐

What do you guys think of his
‘If they don’t want to work with us, they don’t have to’ comment?
I like him as a designer, but I dont agree with LMVH’s policies regarding not paying models, and his answer was a bit cocky

    • Fashion Critic March 9, 2012 at 11:02 #

      really? He said that?

A lot of model aren’t paid, I think this is the norm. Many get paid via clothes, bags etc. Others do it to build their profile to get the big money contracts for the Fall 2012 campaigns, but to say that is very arrogant and disrespectful.

Gives new meaning to the phrase VPL. Visible boxer lines? I just can’t take this seriously — and perhaps that’s the point. If so, he’s succeeded because I am certainly lmao.

  8. pipsqueak March 9, 2012 at 04:16 #

Poor male models! Unless he enjoys clothes as much as the designers, the male model really needs to be drugged to walk a show like this. This is no Simon Spurr. And Marc … such a mystery. He has a leading man face, but his sartorial choices, esp. in this case, is no different from BryanBoy. Sigh.

  9. Carla March 9, 2012 at 00:26 #

Visible underwear aside, I love it. It’s completely arbitrary that men aren’t “allowed” to wear dresses. The more folks like Marc persist the more it chips away at useless gendered “norms.”

is it sad that i kind of wonder if he would’ve pulled the look off if he wore a belt with it?

  11. Rebecca Z March 8, 2012 at 21:52 #

    Ewww gross!

  12. molly March 8, 2012 at 20:47 #

I dont care that he is a grown man wearing a pink dress-Im more repulsed by his hairy legs!

  13. Giuseppi Giraffe March 8, 2012 at 20:44 #

those tattoos with a pink dress and the shoes and… hooo boy.

  14. jane March 8, 2012 at 18:54 #

Marc always looks unhappy (it’s in the eyes). I do like the pink dress though but the shoe buckles are too “Pilgrim’s Pride” for me.

  15. shaun March 8, 2012 at 18:52 #

my problem isn’t so much the shirt dress, which is bad on its own but what in god’s name are those shoes he is wearing…i mean FC did you notice them? I feel like he looks like a witch from that Hocus Pocus movie.

I think he should have put some wingtips on or went totally the oppostie and some dr. martins. those shoes i cant get behind im sorry. i want to take them off and beat him over the head with it

    • Mariana March 9, 2012 at 04:23 #

Also, now I know how people felt when women strated wearing pants.

  16. Dag March 8, 2012 at 17:50 #

I love facial expresions on models, they said it all LOL

    • michelle March 8, 2012 at 18:37 #

the second model it’s like OMG KILL ME NOW.

  17. Ramsay March 8, 2012 at 17:03 #

I think he looks good in both

  18. Dirk March 8, 2012 at 16:46 #

Ok, sometimes as a guy, i think to myself, “man, it would be so comfortable to wear a dress or a skirt”. I daydream about it briefly…

and then i let it go because it would only lead to such a disaster as that second pic. Some fantasies are best left unexplored.

  19. glenn March 8, 2012 at 16:34 #

    I love Marc.
    He can’t do not wrong!!!

  20. D March 8, 2012 at 16:22 #

i am surprised by myself that i actually quite like the black one. but sorry pink one just doesnt work.

  21. Snowlion March 8, 2012 at 16:17 #

Black good, pink bad. I have no probs with a man in a skirt or dress if they can pull it off or have the guts to try. Men in many countries wear skirts as traditional dress, how great does a kilt look, or those Fijians in their Sulu’s.

    • Ginger March 8, 2012 at 19:05 #

      100% +1!

  22. justme March 8, 2012 at 16:06 #

I don’t expect fashion designers to dress well (see John Galliano, Vivienne Westwood, etc…) so do your thing, Marc xD

Kanye would NEVER wear a dress. He might want to but the US hip hop world would never forgive him for it. He couldn’t even wear a kilt the right way, he had to put some leather pants underneath.

    • Emi March 9, 2012 at 08:10 #

I agree with, Prince Charles too is used to wear the kilt, but kilt is more than a skirt, it’s a typical male “thing”. Men should dress like men, being creative and bold is such a different thing.

  23. Fashion Critic March 8, 2012 at 16:01 #

Ah yes…I didn’t notice the boxers

  24. Jon March 8, 2012 at 15:58 #

I’m sorry, if you insist on wearing a pink t-shirt dress, you can’t wear white boxer shorts. You look a damn mess.

  25. Lori March 8, 2012 at 15:57 #

Listen, Marc is smart. Dresses are the best. You pull one over your head and you are dressed! Men should get to wear them, too because they are awesome. I prefer the black to the pink, though.

    • Carolina Roq March 8, 2012 at 18:56 #

Agreed. Men can be bolder with fashion choices.

  26. Mol March 8, 2012 at 15:51 #

Well, the first outfits not horrible necessarily; but the second, neither man woman or child should be seen in that, he looks so ridic……

  27. manja March 8, 2012 at 15:49 #

the 1st one is OK just because you can’t tell it’s a dress at first, the 2nd one is horrible

  28. Emmeline March 8, 2012 at 15:46 #

I’m sorry, I can’t help but laugh at this. Especially the pink.

  29. Moxie March 8, 2012 at 15:46 #

I just can’t see most guys willing to wear dresses. Kanye’s look with a leather kilt over pants… maybe. Slim, but maybe. But these dresses? Not a chance.

  30. Kate March 8, 2012 at 15:44 #

The black one he carries off, just barely. The pink one is absurd. And is it the light in the photo or do I see the outline of boxer shorts?

  31. cartouche March 8, 2012 at 15:42 #

the black is okay but the pink doesn’t work.. you can clearly see his boxers underneath

  33. AW March 8, 2012 at 15:29 #

He looks ridiculous. We can justify it in the name of fashion but it’s a dress. Outside of purposeful drag, religion or cultural reasons I have no desire to see a hairy legged man in a dress or skirt.

    • Emi March 9, 2012 at 08:06 #

Me, too… no wait, just one: ridiculous.

      • EmmaWoodhouse March 9, 2012 at 14:35 #

I will add one: ludicrous. And another: HORRIBLE! I am with you two!
