Elie Saab Fall 2011 Couture

The Elie Saab Fall 2011 Couture presentation was the perfect way to end my Couture Fashion Week.

My favourite designer did what he does best; create jaw-dropping, breath-taking, red carpet ready gowns.

He didn’t let his first ever Resort collection slow him down, as his Fall 2011 Couture collection was one of his best to date.

I could literally gush about this collection all day.

The white, aquamarine, blush, slate blue and caramel coloured gowns and cocktail dresses ranged from Princess-like to hot temptress (Karlie Kloss was always the latter).

I loved the orchid accent tied to the waist of most of the looks, this was a beautiful subtle finishing touch.

Most of the looks were embellished with sparkling details, whilst others were embroidered with floral appliqués.

I can’t wait to see who will be the lucky girl to wear a look from this collection first.

Whilst this is a Fall collection, the light, airy, ethereal dreamy dresses and gowns wouldn’t look out of place on a red carpet this summer.

Can you smell my desperation?

Favourites: Ice blue embellished tulle gown, slate blue embellished gown and heavenly off-white embroidered gown.

Shoes: Elie Saab triple stacked platform heels

Who I Would Like To See Wearing This Collection: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Angelina Jolie, Mia Wasikowska, Leighton Meester, Freida Pinto, Elle Fanning, Jennifer Lopez, Catherine Zeta Jones, Blake Lively, Olivia Wilde, Diane Kruger, Fan Bing Bing, Léa Seydoux, Sarah Jessica Parker, Helen Mirren, Hilary Swank, Rose Byrne and Penelope Cruz

Great collection, but of course we’re used to it… Personally I see Angelina with the dress you chose for Penelope Cruz, and Penelope Cruz for the dress you chose for Angelina, but it’s my opinion. This collection is dreamy, really, the fabrics are amazing.

Elie Saab, dress-maker extraordinaire delivered another fairy-tale like haute couture collection. He never cease to amaze me. Congrats!

But, cause there is a small but, I tend to agree with one small critic of his detractors, which ishis insistance on showing a catalog of dresses in all the colors of the season. He does not need to show that many looks, nor that many pieces in each colours, as it cheapens the aura of his fabulous workmanship and stunningly beautiful dresses and sometimes, a feeling of deja-vu because of it.

And id love to see 2 or 3 tailored look please!!!

  13. bec July 6, 2011 at 10:59 pm #

Oh FC these dresses are AMAZING! I can’t believe you got to see them in person…I would have been swooning for the entire show haha!!

I would love to see Rose Byrne in one of his looks! Just once!! 😀

  14. Fraser July 6, 2011 at 10:52 pm #

Like many I actually gasped when the page loaded!! Stunning stunning … and like many am uber jealous, FC, of being able to see this move in person!

On a side note: Kate Middleton meet Elie Saab Resort – Elie Saab Resort meet the future queen. Hadn’t looked at this before – how gorgeous and wearable is that!

  17. Matt R July 6, 2011 at 10:03 pm #

I knew I’d love the collection the minute I saw Anja Rubik start out the show in that first dress. What a beautiful woman to showcase the beautiful collection Elie Saab put together. Simply stunning. I, like you FC, will probably pass out once I see this collection on the Red Carpet. I like how Rosie, Diane and Charlize’s names got thrown in there as dream girls for this collection and I couldn’t agree more. I’m so jealous you got to see these dresses as they walked FC.

  18. dee July 6, 2011 at 9:57 pm #

Those dresses are what dreams are made of, particularly, the dress on the left in the first set of pictures in this post, the slate blue embellished gown and the gown you chose for Helen Mirren. Just wow, wow, wow.

  28. Hisadora July 6, 2011 at 6:24 pm #

Well I can barely breath. This is one of the most fantastic collections I’ve ever seen. FABULOUS.

  29. sweetjess98 July 6, 2011 at 6:24 pm #

He is d best designer! Love this collection. They are just so AMAZING.

  30. Sarah July 6, 2011 at 6:21 pm #

I get a sense of Deja Vu with Elie Saab gowns. Maybe the embellishments or the structure of some of these gowns. It could also be that most of the celebrities pick Elie Saab gowns for most of the high octane premiers.

  31. Leila July 6, 2011 at 6:09 pm #

Those gowns are breath-taking for sure, i love the one you picked for Hilary Swank

  32. abdalrahman July 6, 2011 at 5:56 pm #

    • Fashion Critic July 6, 2011 at 6:13 pm #

I do feel lucky….it was an amazing show.

  35. Karis July 6, 2011 at 5:44 pm #

The dress you have marked for Helen Mirren is beautiful! Cannot wait to see it on the Red Carpet. My favourite of a stunning show.

  36. Gigi July 6, 2011 at 5:38 pm #

I can’t see Helen Mirren in that plunging neckline and leg reveal, but the color would like great on her. His gowns are absolute heaven.

  37. The.Shoe.Freak July 6, 2011 at 5:11 pm #

Technically Elie Saab did not end couture week..Jean-Paul Gaultier and Azzedine Alaia tomorrow in the well-known designers.

    • Fashion Critic July 6, 2011 at 5:16 pm #

He was my last show, so in terms of my schedule he did end fashion week as I’m writing this from my perspective

      • ahot July 6, 2011 at 6:04 pm #

Word! FC. & You did a great job. I can smell your desperation all the way to Germany. 😉
Yours is only surpassed by mine. lol!
I would give my arm to get one of his creations. Seriously. this collection is to DIE for indeed.

        • Fashion Critic July 6, 2011 at 6:12 pm #

I will pass out the second any hits the red carpet, so expect a few hours delay in posting whilst I recover 😉

      • The.Shoe.Freak July 7, 2011 at 12:18 am #

Yeah, makes sense in that perspective! Great job btw.

        • Fashion Critic July 7, 2011 at 12:33 am #

  38. Moxie July 6, 2011 at 5:02 pm #

    Exquisite as always.

    • Moxie July 6, 2011 at 5:08 pm #

My fave is the navy one you have earmarked for Helen Mirren.

  39. Matt R July 6, 2011 at 5:01 pm #

I waited at my computer all morning to see the photos at Style.com of the presentation, and I wasn’t disappointed. Some of the gowns took my breath away and I’m already picking out some for the Emmy’s, and if Rosie wore that gown you picked out, or any of them for that matter….I might die out of pure shock and amazement

  40. niya July 6, 2011 at 4:59 pm #

Whist I love the collection (and in fact anything Elie Saab creates) it does start to feel a little samey. I would love it if he tried experimenting with new ideas. I adored the stuff he came up with when he stared mixing things up with the beautiful floral prints (can’t remember which collections) for both fall and spring. Perhaps because this is couture I can give him a pass but I’m really hoping to see something different in september.

  41. MARIELA July 6, 2011 at 4:56 pm #

The collection presents something from the Middle East and the glamour of Hollywood.
