Leighton Meester In Burberry Prorsum – 2011 Golden Globe Awards

Posted by Catherine Kallon

Most Romantic/Most Unpredictable Award
Whilst most stars were looking for the puffiest dress with the most sequins for the 2011 Golden Globe Awards, Leighton Meester went for the total opposite.

The “Gossip Girl” actress who was presenting on the night opted for a Burberry Prorsum Pre-Fall 2011 dress.

She quietly walked the red carpet in her nude print Burberry Prorsum ruched crescent dress.

I loved her accessories which included a Louis Vuitton minaudiere clutch and Jimmy Choo ‘Zafira’ platform sandals which provided a touch of sparkle to her look along with her Cathy Waterman jewels.

As others go left, Leighton goes right. In this case so right.

I adore this look.

Love that dress. Wish she had worn the belt.
It looks too big on her.

My first reaction was : are they doing another remake of Pride and Prejudice? but the more I kook at it the more I like it.

  6. Carolina January 17, 2011 at 12:48 pm #

    I missed Blake Lively.

  7. Raquel January 17, 2011 at 12:47 pm #

I like the dress. I really do. But the nude makeup and the hair… IMO, with ehr hair up nd some color on her lips, this could have been a killer.

  8. D January 17, 2011 at 12:28 pm #

interesting look. it really suits her!

  9. Joy January 17, 2011 at 10:51 am #

One of my favorites of the night. She has such great style. Love how this time around she chose something soft and feminine and so minimalist. Love Love Love!

  10. Nikki January 17, 2011 at 10:27 am #

This isn’t something I thought anyone would wear on the red carpet but I’d like to give kudos to Leighton for always bringing something new to the table. Others were wearing puffy dresses, one shoulder gowns, strapless, same-old same old gowns, she goes the opposite. Although I would have loved it even better if her gown had short sleeves similar to the photo/models.

  11. nicky January 17, 2011 at 9:26 am #

beautiful. she always mixes it up even though wht she wears isnt my style. the shoes are amazing. where was blake i wonder?!

  12. Emi January 17, 2011 at 9:01 am #

    I love it!!!

  13. Joy January 17, 2011 at 8:30 am #

She looks absolutely stunning. I love this brave choice of a dress.

  14. Jones19 January 17, 2011 at 8:01 am #

While I love me some glitz and glamour, I have to give it up for Leighton for always bringing something different to the table. Love this girl.

  15. mochababe73 January 17, 2011 at 6:38 am #

I love the shoes and that’s it. The dress looks better on the model. On Leighton, it looks like she’s in some type of Shakespearian movie.

  16. KateS January 17, 2011 at 6:27 am #

maybe it’s just this picture, but I’m getting a historical drama costume feel from this.

  17. Suz January 17, 2011 at 5:46 am #

Best I’ve seen Leighton look. Especially her makeup.

  18. gossip_bangkok January 17, 2011 at 4:55 am #

I adore the Louis Vuitton clutch!

  19. Emma January 17, 2011 at 4:53 am #

WOW, she looked gorgeous at the GG’s! She lookes so pretty while presenting

  20. Linda January 17, 2011 at 4:07 am #

This is one of the few times I love what she’s wearing. So unique, calmly ethereal.

  21. mel January 17, 2011 at 4:06 am #

    Leighton looks flawless!

  22. Firefly January 17, 2011 at 3:54 am #

she just need to fire all her team – stylist, make-up person and agent(for letting her doing such films like The Roommate). So much potential wasted here

    • mel January 17, 2011 at 4:06 am #

She shot The Roommate back in 08 way before she got better roles like Country Strong, Monte Carlo, and The Oranges.

  23. Julianne January 17, 2011 at 3:47 am #

Leighton is always making me so happy.
This outfit is so unexpected, classy and beautiful.
What she did with the sleeves, the shoes, hair, make up, jewelry. This is so fantastic. Clearly my favorite. Keep going like this Leighton.

    • Marvel January 17, 2011 at 12:17 pm #

I agree. This time last year she would have worn a ‘edgy’ dress which would have looked ridiculous but she looks so delicate and simple and it worked wonders for her. A fantastic look

  24. msd January 17, 2011 at 3:35 am #

That seals it. Long sleeved, long dresses are officially the “on trend” thing tonight.

  25. jessica January 17, 2011 at 3:28 am #

she looked simply gorgeous, fav of the night. LOVE YOU LEIGHTON. <3

  26. summer January 17, 2011 at 3:24 am #

    she’s the one

  27. Sonya January 17, 2011 at 3:24 am #

I wish she’d pushed up her sleeves like the runway model did. With the sleeves down the dress reeks a bit of blingtastic Regency/Jane Austen.

  28. Matt January 17, 2011 at 3:19 am #

As soon as I saw Leighton on the Red Carpet, I knew she was wearing Burberry Prorsum. I had this kinda look set aside for someone with a more boho vibe, like Nicole Richie, but I think she does it complete justice. I’m glad that she didn’t wear the belt. Easily one of my favorites.

  29. niya January 17, 2011 at 3:18 am #

I absolutely adore this! definately on of favourite looks of the night. Leighton looks so graceful and beautiful and lots of other synonyms. Sigh.

  30. carine January 17, 2011 at 3:15 am #

i couldn’t agree more with you FC! she is something else. i adore the look and i love your blog so much! you did such an amaizing job with these awards! kudos:)

  31. mm January 17, 2011 at 3:14 am #

I love this look, but i didnt like how she walked out to present with the dress jacked up so high.

    • Julianne January 17, 2011 at 3:40 am #

I think it wasn’t her intention. And we didn’t see nothing anyway.

      • Julianne January 17, 2011 at 3:40 am #

        anything*

  32. Incroyable January 17, 2011 at 3:14 am #

She Killed it. Absolutely Love it!

  33. june January 17, 2011 at 3:14 am #

leighton was my favourite of the night. unusual and interesting, i almost wish she did wear a belt of some kind, but not the thick black (?) one the model has on.

  34. LizLemooooon January 17, 2011 at 3:13 am #

YES! I was waiting for this look, it is just very poised and elegant yet youthful. The pics do not do it justice AT ALL on screen she looked heavenly and her shoes are perfect. High enough to help make the dress look good but not too heavy for the light magerial of the gown.
    She has an excellent stylist.

  35. mol January 17, 2011 at 3:12 am #

She looked so lovely as a presenter, she really is beautiful and she’s wearing the kind of outfits that highlight that, I loved everything she has worn recently – EVERYTHING!

  36. nicole January 17, 2011 at 3:11 am #

she looked amazing while presenting on stage!! i was wondering how that would translate in pictures and its flawless!!! i think this is my fav look of the night so far. simple yet amazing.

  37. Tatiana January 17, 2011 at 3:11 am #

Just PERFECT! A breath of fresh air in the middle of overdesigned and overacessorizes looks.

  38. Sharon January 17, 2011 at 3:10 am #

So beautiful! She did it exactly right and made me smile. I love everything about her look, but especially her hair. Just gorgeous.

  39. Ashley January 17, 2011 at 3:10 am #

I did not like this look at first but it grew on me! The shoes are AMAZING!

  40. bb January 17, 2011 at 3:10 am #

Oh what a stunner! She looks terrific. Glad she decided to go this way. Her super tiny frame would not survive the typical puffy dress they tend to wear to the Globes.

I also love her makeup. It’s just flawless.

And I need her clutch like right now!

  41. justme January 17, 2011 at 3:09 am #

My best dressed of the night. I’m biased and Idgaf lol. Leighton went safe but my kind of safe.

  42. Amber January 17, 2011 at 3:09 am #

I never expected a Little House on the Prairie look from her. As you can tell, I don’t think it looks nice, but if she had put her hair in braids or a bun, she could have looked a lot like Laura Ingalls.

    • CreoleLady January 17, 2011 at 3:35 am #

Omg, Little House on the (expensive) Prairie was the first thing that came to my mind as well, lol. Disappointing.

  43. lee January 17, 2011 at 3:09 am #

FC, you’ve turned me into such a Leighton fan it’s not even funny. I LOVE this look… so glad you do too!!

You have a tough job, picking best dressed at the globes..

  44. HM January 17, 2011 at 3:08 am #

    LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Miss Meester is fashionably intelligent! 😉

  45. Hannah January 17, 2011 at 3:08 am #

I refuse to look at a photo of otehrs fromteh night, IE Jennifer Lawrence, ScarJo, or any other beauties of the night, because at this moment, having no memory of almos tany previous looks, Leighton is my favourite. I cant fault it,it is so unexpected in every way. Firstly she is gorgeous, fantastic ahri and makeup. so no surprise there, but everythign else, the hoop earrings not lookign trashy and being paried with this dress, similarly the heels and bag being paried with this dress les alone together. The dress itself. OH, how I do adore Leighton meester.

  46. Hermione Weasley January 17, 2011 at 3:07 am #

She looks gorgeous! She’s unpredictable and I love it.

  47. GirlOne January 17, 2011 at 3:07 am #

So, so beautiful. She really stood out – not only for looking incredibly gorgeous but also for not looking like anybody else.

    • anna January 17, 2011 at 3:50 pm #

      agreed!
      very distintic dress!

  48. Shaina January 17, 2011 at 3:06 am #

She is my favorite at this event. She didn’t even seem to be trying too hard like some of the other celebrities at the Golden Globes.

  49. Laura January 17, 2011 at 3:06 am #

I’m sorry this is just not doing it for me. It looks like a bad period piece. The print was nice, but I don’t like the sleeves and the leg slit. This just isn’t right to me, and I’ve seen Leighton look better. (See: Art of Elysium Gala last night)

  50. Oh my January 17, 2011 at 3:05 am #

Oh my god she looks so gorgeous! Great make up, beautiful earring and elegant dress. I like.

    • Ethne Blist January 17, 2011 at 3:49 am #

BDOTW or something for sure. Like a minimalist fairy princess.

      • carine January 17, 2011 at 9:41 am #

minimalist fairy princess! i love it so much!

    • Lils January 17, 2011 at 4:42 pm #

      Definately BDOTW

      • abbey January 17, 2011 at 5:42 pm #

no questions about this outfit. BDOTY for me:)
