2009 ESPY Awards Red Carpet

Best Dressed Award
I wasn’t really expecting much from this event to be honest.

That all changed when I saw Venus Williams.  She really wowed me wearing a Mara Hoffman Spring 2009 print silk-chiffon maxi dress, with plunging neckline and tie to the waist.  She accessorized with a silver necklace and a matching ring.

Her hair was swept to one-side to add more elegance to her look.

She looks ace wouldn’t you agree?

Most Consistent Award
I only see Driver Danica Patrick on the red carpet once a year at this event and she always impresses.

Last year she wore a cute Nanette Lepore mini dress, this year she opted for a sexy yet sweetly feminine, Stella McCartney Fall 2009 dress.

The dress has been modified from the runway to be shorter plus her dress has nude panels with a lace overlay.

I love that she kept the rest of her look classic with simple jewelery, complementary two-tone black peep-toe heels and her hair styled into a beautiful updo.

Nice Dress, But I Prefer The Runway Version Award
Demi Moore looks great in her custom-made Zac Posen Resort 2010 cold-shoulder dress, but I LOVED the runway version so part of me feel a bit disappointed even though Mrs Kutcher looks super hot.

Black satin Bally platform peep-toe pumps and gold bracelets completed her look.

Most Improved Award
Serena Williams always goes for an ultra glamorous look which usually fails to work.

On this occasion her teal blue Roberto Cavalli gown is perfect.

The colour is gorgeous and the fit is flattering. For once I don’t notice her muscle, but I do notice her twins.

How does she run around a court for 2 hours? It’s gotta hurt.

De Ja Vu Award
Jaime Pressly wore a very similar Joey Tierney Couture LBD, and styled her hair in almost the same way when she attended the “I Love You, Man” LA premiere.

When she looks this drop dead gorgeous why not recreate the magic I guess.

Her skin is positively glowing.  She’s very much the yummy mummy.

Nice dress, shame about the hair Award
Miranda Kerr wore a fabulous white Calvin Klein haltered gown which looks stunning on her, but the hair doesn’t quite work for me.

I like that she tried something new as her style is usually the same, but I don’t think it suits her.

Worst Make-Up Award
WNBA player Lisa Leslie didn’t look in the mirror before she left the house. I refuse to believe anyone would knowingly leave their home looking this bad and not be aware.

Most Zzzzzz Award
Out of all the Victoria Secret models who walk the red carpet Marisa Miller has to be the most boring, predictable and uninspiring.

Like Amanda Bynes it’s always the same formula.  Tight, short, black or white, Herve Leger or Dolce & Gabbana.

On this occasion she’s wearing a white strapless short Dolce & Gabbana dress, with a jeweled belt from the Spring 2009 collection.

i think demi would have looked too demure and casual in the runway version.

ditto on the williams sisters looking stunning in clothes that look fitted, comfortable, and fashionable.

Wow the Williams sisters look amazing, unrecognizable! Without sounding rude they actually look like women rather than butch, strong sports stars. Power to them

You forgot Nastia Liukin. She looked gorgeous and won for Female Athlete of the Year!

i was just looking at the picture from last years awards and im 100% sure lisa leslie is wearing the exact same shoes from last year, that is kinda strange.

serena has got to be a contender for best dressed of the week.

wow, surprisingly this a really well dressed event. this has got to be the best that i’ve seen serena and venus look EVER. they’re always struggling to look good for events like this and they both look head to toe beautiful here. and yes, serena really is the most improved because like you i usually notice only her muscles. this time i just notice her fabulous figure! that color is so her color.

demi looks amazing. one of her best looks in my opinion, so undeniably sexy!

jaime looks so tall and elegant!

No, I wouldn’t agree. Everything is too long especially that oversized grandma’s dressing gown.
    I vote for Jaime.

OH MY GOD…The Williams sisters look spectacular..maybe they finally hired a stylist? Serena looks very feminine and soft.

  13. Chantal July 16, 2009 at 1:03 pm #

Wow! Venus looks amazing, I didn’t recognise her until I read the text. Definitely a best dressed of the week contender.

    • Fashion Critic July 16, 2009 at 1:07 pm #

      for sure

      • Ally July 16, 2009 at 1:11 pm #

I was just about to say exactly what Chantal said. Serena looks great too. The color really suits her.

I think Miranda’s hair would be so much better if she did a middle part, it is the side part that lets her down.
