Georgina Chapman For Tatler UK July 2009

Posted by Catherine Kallon

Each month I buy Vogue UK, US, Paris, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle and InStyle.

I’m honestly not really a fan of Tatler magazine as I’m not really their target audience.

Not until I saw the breathtakingly beautiful Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman on their July 2009 cover.

Georgina creates those fairy-tale like red carpet gowns, little girls – and big girls like you and I dream of wearing some day.

She was of course wearing her Fall 2009 designs on the cover, and throughout rest of her editorial which was shot by Mary McCartney.

In her interview with David Jenkins she talks about her heroine Joan Collins, how she won over Hollywood with Marchesa and her frantic life with husband Harvey Weinstein.

On her earliest red carpet creations being linked to Harvey Weinstein’s films: “I hired Hollywood publicist Nancy Ryder, and she introduced Marchesa to Hollywood’s A-List. If someone doesn’t like what I do, that’s OK everyone is entitled to their opinion. But if they don’t like like what I do because of who I’m married to, that’s unfair.”

On marriage: Marriage is really good. It suits me. I find it really romantic – I like saying ‘My husband’. He’s very kind, incredibly strong. Whenever you are with him you feel safe.”

On movie and fashion parties: “I get incredibly nervous but there’s a romance to it, everyone looks so amazing.”
