Baseball Attire, Diva Style

There are only two women in the world who will combine heels, short shorts, sunglasses, make-up and freshly coiffed hair with sport. Of course those two women are Victoria Beckham and Mariah Carey.

Victoria Beckham was the first to adopt this look, when she was invited to throw out the first pitch at the Los Angeles Dodgers vs New York Mets game last June.

She wore white shorts, a Dodgers jacket and Dries Van Noten wedged sneakers.

Not to be out done, when Super Diva Mariah Carey was invited to throw the ceremonial first pitch before a Japanese baseball match between Yomiuri Giants and Rakuten Golden Eagles at Tokyo Dome this week, she wore a pink and white bomber jacket (yes another one) with M on the front and Mariah on the back, with denim shorts and white gladiator heels.

Ridiculous does not even cover it, although at least Victoria's has an element of sporting appeal with her Dodgers jacket and her wedged sneakers.

For this season, Christian Louboutin has created a similar wedged sneaker.


The taupe sneaker espradrille wedges have white laces and contrast patent leather piping. They even come with the signature red soles.

Mariah Carey's Obsession - Bomber Jackets

Mariah Carey ♥'s bomber jackets.

If it was not official the first 4 times she wore a bomber jacket, it definitely is official now.

The singing diva wore a white, black and red trimmed Gucci Resort 2008 bomber jacket yesterday, when her and hubby Nick Cannon arrived at LAX Airport bound for Japan.

The obsession started back in February, when she arrived for a taping of MTV's TRL and has continued since then.


Some of you might be thinking "If ain't broke, don't fix" and I tend to agree, to a point.

There is knowing what works best for you, and there is getting stuck in a style rut.

Mariah is on her verge of that rut, as the bomber jacket and short black skirt seem to almost be a uniform, despite the various different colours of the jacket.

Both Victoria Beckham and Mariah Carey wore these stunning Jimmy Choo Lance metallic sandals last week.

Victoria wore hers with her Giorgio Armani beaded coat dress and ghostly face to the Costume Institute Gala.

Mariah Carey wore hers when she preformed at the Time magazine 100 Most Influential People Gala and also when she went out to dinner with her husband Nick Cannon.

Who Wore Louis Vuitton Better? Kristin Davis or Mariah Carey

Kristen Davis first wore this black strapless tuxedo-style Louis Vuitton Spring 2008 dress to the Point Honors The Arts event in New York last month.

It was the first time we saw all 4 SATC girls together since the 2004 Golden Globes Awards, yet the stories of behind-the-scenes fighting still persist.

Kristin wore her dress with tights and a grey pair of heels.

After Mariah Carey performed at the Time magazine 100 Most Influential People gala in New York, the newlyweds headed over to the celebrity-popular Waverly Inn for a late night dinner.

It was here that we got to see Mariah Carey in the same - albeit much shorter - Louis Vuitton dress with Jimmy Choo Lance metallic sandals.

Mariah is glowing in her wedded bliss, and again the Choo's win this for her.

Who Wore Roberto Cavalli Better? Heidi Klum or Mariah Carey

Project Runway host Heidi Klum first wore this silver metallic Roberto Cavalli Spring 2008 mini dress to Elton John's Annual AIDS Foundation Oscar Party in LA back in February.

The 5ft 10 model wore her dress with a pair of silver pumps, a silver box clutch and silver earrings.

Newlywed Mariah Carey, aka Mimi, wore the same dress when she performed at the Time's 100 Most Influential People in the World event in New York last night.

The singer wore her dress with a pair of silver strappy sandals and her $2.5 million wedding ring.

Mimi's strappy sandals work better with this type of dress, so she wins for me.

Camilla Belle is usually impeccable, but I honestly do not think this Carlos Miele Spring 2008 one-shoulder gown flatters her in any way. I particularly object to the bottom half of the gown.

Swarovski Party, Paris



Rihanna attended this event wearing a sheer dress with a purple underly, accentuated with a jeweled belt, which was custom-made by Daniel Swarovski especially for her.

She completed her look with the same silver Louboutin's she wore to the Brit Awards.



I did not like this Emanuel Ungaro Fall 2007 one-sleeved dress the first time I saw it on Mary J Blige at the American Music Awards, and I especially do not like it now on Vivica A. Fox.

Vera Wang seems to be the preferred choice for Cate Blanchett during the later stages of her pregnancy. She wore this metallic free-flowing dress to this event and another Vera Wang dress to the Spirit Awards.

Elvis & Anabelle Private Screening, New York



Blake Lively gets back to looking her best in this belted mini-dress with tan pumps.

She fell off around Paris Haute Couture Week, but looks simply sophisticated here.

Kate Beckinsale greek inspired Alberta Ferretti jeweled embellished gown looked gorgeous, but no doubt the loose fitted dress is enough to start some pregnancy rumors.

I love Mariah Carey and I have always defended her style and what she wears, but this time I give up.

She looks not only hideous, but truly ridiculous here. I can't defended this, because any outfit in which I can see your underwear is a HUGE NO NO for me.

Sarah Harding from girl group Girls Aloud, is wearing a See by Chloe strapless dress, which unfortunately does not flatter her figure. Sarah is a pretty girl and can do much better.

What I do love is her Office shoes with the pink heel, as they are unique and different. I love the lengths she goes to, to show off her heels by standing front on but still angeling her foot to show off her heel.

That is a true red carpet professional.

Thandie Newton is just too darn beautiful. I love this monochrome Nathan Jenden dress, and the matching shoes are just GORGEOUS.

Apart from Thandie's BAFTA Award dress she has not put a foot wrong on the red carpet this year.

Kiera Knightley goes from fabulous in Chanel Couture to frightening in Rodarte the space of a week.

The dress is gorgeous, but Kiera is frighteningly thin and this dress does nothing but excentuate this fact.

Michelle Yeoh is golden again at the Venice Film Festival. I love this flapper style dress on her. Girlfriend does not age.

The Real 'M by Mariah Carey' Ad

A few weeks ago an advert for Mariah Carey's new fragrance was posted. It was widely criticized because it was an obvious photoshopped picture of Mariah and Supermodel Gisele.

The picture above is the real ad for Mariah's new fragrance. I am not sure it is necessary for her to be naked for a fragrance ad, but Mimi has never been shy about her body.

Something Stinks, And It Ain't Just The Perfume

A few weeks ago I announced that Mariah Carey was the latest celebrity to be bringing out her own Perfume.

Finally we get to see the accompanying artwork to go with the bottle.

But wait a minute. Who's legs are those? Did Mimi lose a lot of weight for the photoshoot? Did her legs grow about 5ins in the time she had been away?

No, because that is the magic of photoshopping. You can be whatever you want to be, but a 6ft Brazilian model...come on...who are they fooling.

Apparently the bottom half belong to Gisele Bündchen and Perez Hilton has the photographic evidence to prove it.

Even without the evidence this is just lazy work, both on the part of Mimi and the person paid to do this work.

Who Wore Azzedine Alaia Better? Part Deux

Part one was just between Mariah and Victoria Beckham, but last night Naomi Campbell wore the same dress to the GQ Style Night to throw herself in the mix.

Naomi's dress is either slightly modified with the higher neckline, or she is wearing it back to front.

Mariah Carey wore this Azzedine Alaia dress first to the "Salute to American Heroes" event whereas Victoria wore this dress for her interview with Matt Lauer a few weeks ago Central Park.

M by Mariah Carey

On Monday Mariah Carey launched her new fragrance which just bears her initial 'M'.

Very clever 'M'. I wonder how many creative's it took to come up with that title considering Madonna used the same initial for her H&M Range.

The M by Mariah Carey scent, which the singer created with perfumer Carlos Benaim of International Flavors & Fragrances, is a floriental. It has top notes of marshmallow and sea breeze accord, a heart of Living Tahitian Tiare and gardenia and a drydown of sheer amber, patchouli and Moroccan incense.

An eau de parfum spray, M by Mariah Carey will be available in three sizes: 1 oz. for $38, 1.7 oz. for $48 and 3.3 oz. for $58. A 0.5-oz. parfum, $175, and a 6.7-oz. body lotion, $28, also will be sold.

Cute bottle, but I don't buy the whole celebrity fragance thing. I buy a perfume because it smells nice, not because a celebrity has put their name to it.

Look out for Beyonce and Christina Aguilera fragrances which are also due out soon.

Who Wore Azzedine Alaia Better?

Mimi aka Mariah Carey wore this Azzedine Alaia dress first last week at the "Salute to American Heroes" event whereas Victoria wore this dress for her interview with Matt Lauer yesterday in Central Park.

Although I LOVE Mimi, I much prefer Victoria's verison of this dress as I adore the peachy colour and the fact that is is not see-through like Mariah's.
