Tracee Ellis Ross In Jenny Packham – 2017 amfAR Gala Cannes

Tracee Ellis Ross was in attendance with designer Jeremy Scott at the amfAR Gala Cannes on Thursday (May 25) during the Cannes Film Festival.

We can always count on the actress to bring her uniquely quirky style to the red carpet, and she delivered in this Jenny Packham Spring 2018 Bridal design.

While this look had nothing of a traditional wedding gown flavour, it did have tons of feisty personality in the wash of sequins and big feather sleeves—not to mention its fiery red hue.

It was a lot of dress, so that’s why I wish the fit of the plunge bodice and waistline along with the floor-puddling hemline had been more precisely tailored, as this look needed as much streamlining as it could get.

Bella Hadid In Ralph & Russo Couture – 2017 amfAR Gala Cannes

Bella Hadid was also in attendance at the amfAR Gala Cannes on Thursday (May 25) during the Cannes Film Festival.

If there’s one thing we can say for Bella, it’s that she is consistent.

Consistent in the oopsies flashes—from skin-blaring sheer, to ungraciously high slits, and cheek peeks.

This Ralph & Russo Couture naked gown had it all in spades, including the visible semi-sheer panty—and no amount of twinkling, crystal embellishment could take away from that.

Karolina Kurkova In Marchesa – 2017 amfAR Gala Cannes

Karolina Kurkova was not one to go down the darker sartorial route at the amfAR Gala Cannes on Thursday (May 25) during the Cannes Film Festival.

Quite the contrary, rather, as she brought a whimsical sense of romantic femininity to her new set of edgy blunt bangs in this Marchesa Fall 2017 floral and feather festooned gown.

While sheer, the front of the dress was protected from an overt eyeful in the draped half-bow, half-obi sash.

Rocker-chick meets flower-chic with this look that was quite different from the more streamlined, sometimes glitzy vibe Karolina tends to serve.

Paz Vega In Redemption – 2017 amfAR Gala Cannes

Paz Vega took our breath away at the amfAR Gala Cannes, held on Thursday (May 25) during the 2017 Cannes Film Festival.

The actress wore a Fall 2017 Redemption gown with styling accents of gold and red.

As usual, Ms. Vega does not disappoint. She carries the color, bead detailing, sash and skin-baring elements of this gown exquisitely.

And I have to say, I’ve never seen anyone get as much variety out of a short haircut as Paz and her stylists do. This sleek, 20s bob-esque style is creative and simply perfect for the look.

And something about this look is just begging for a pop of red, so I love that she obliged that style need with the lip and earrings.

Are you as completely mesmerized as I am with this look?

Melissa George In Schiaparelli Couture – 2017 amfAR Gala Cannes

Melissa George made a Cannes Film Festival appearance at the amfAR Gala Cannes on Thursday (May 25).

The actress is no stranger to wearing Schiaparelli Couture looks, so I wasn’t surprised to see her dressed in a design from the Spring 2017 collection.

We’ve seen a trend towards darker, decorative looks tonight (think Nicole Kidman and Diane Kruger), and this gown also fit that bill.

I did love the sort of dreamy, enchanted quality of the embellished layers of the tulle and lace skirt.

But, something about the bodice resonated as unfinished to me. It seemed as if needed some sense of tailored structure or form to stand up to the folds of the skirt—especially sans the sheer top piece that was presented on the runway.

Minimal accessories made her lovely windswept updo and radiant makeup the focus of her styling.

Stacy Martin In Prada – 2017 amfAR Gala Cannes

Stacy Martin attended the amfAR Gala Cannes, held on Thursday (May 25) during the 2017 Cannes Film Festival.

For the occasion, she wore a metallic Prada gown with no accouterments.

At first glance, I thought how bare Stacy looked, but after taking a moment to digest her look, I absolutely love that she left all necklaces and bracelets at home, and just let her gown do the talking.

The silvery mint color is delightful, and of course that bodice-lining beading is all the jewels she needs.

I’m also a huge fan of the beauty decisions made here. The simple, slightly undone blowout is perfectly effortless, and the contrast of the dark berry lips and gold highlighted eyes are masterful with the light-colored gown.
