Runway To “Shutter Island” Berlin Film Festival Premiere – Michelle Williams In Chanel

On Saturday Michelle Williams walked the red carpet for the “Shutter Island” premiere during the Berlin Film Feastival.

Michelle’s co-star Leonardo DiCaprio was also in attendance, but I was only interested in Michelle’s Chanel Spring 2010 dress.

The white asymmetrical bodice was accented with a black sash, whilst her black chiffon skirt had an extra layer in comparison to the runway version.

I love everything about this look, from Michelle’s glow, her hair, her flawless make-up, her vulnerability, to the simplicity of the dress.

Only black peep-toes heels were paired with this look.

Our first and truly worthy BDOTW contender.

Who Wore Versace Better? Kelly Lin, Blake Lively or Fernanda Lima

Kelly Lim first wore this stunning floor length Fall 2009 Versace gown to the 12th Annual Shanghai International Film Festival back in June of 2009.

I love the low cut of this dress and think it shows of Kelly’s figure beautifully.

Kelly short hairstyle also really suits this look.

Blake Lively then wore this dress to the Emmy’s in September 2009.

I’m really pleased she pulled her hair back with this dress.

I also think the simple bracelet was a nice way to accessorise this look.

Brazilian actress Fernanda Lima then wore this dress to host “Oi Fashion Rocks” in Brazil in October 2009.

I love her blonde locks against this gown but do wish she’d worn her hair off her shoulders.

All three ladies look stunning in this gown but Kelly just takes the lead here in my opinion.

What do you think?

Alice + Olivia Fall 2010

Alice + Olivia is all about dressing up and having a fun time with your girlfriends, so the Fall 2010 presentation was held at Provocateur nightclub to evoke that very spirit.

The celebrity guest which included Kelly Osborne, Mena Suvari, Sophia Bush and Tinsley Mortimer were just as well dressed as the models to the looked like they were enjoying the music by Travis Barker as much as we were.

In the dark light it was kinda hard to view all the pieces despite the models standing on platforms, but the embellished pieces really stood out.

The collection – which is on Style.com – included LBDs, body-con dress, multiple layered skirt, embellished dresses, mini dresses, blazers, layered pieces and many cute hats.

Vivienne Tam Fall 2010

The Vivienne Tam Fall 2010 presentation was held in the designer’s boutique on Mercer Street which was packed solid.

The 18 models were perched on podiums in the middle of the boutique, which allowed us to get a closer look at those intricate details.

Tam is well known for her Asian patterns and rich colourful pieces and this collection was no different.

The looks were a bit edgier than previous season with her influence being the ‘Chinese Zodiac’.

We were presented with ruffles, fur and sequins on a colour palette of blood red, white, black, gold, grey, and green.

I even liked the Tiger print lace tights.

Each model’s look was kept simple with bold red lips and a sleek pony.

My favourite look was the creamy funnel-neck coat with the beautifully cut layers.

Prabal Gurung Fall 2010

Prabal Gurung’s Fall 2010 presentation may have been in a small venue, but the talented designer who showed his first runway collection drew a big crowd.

This was my first sighting of Anna Wintour – who arrived with her daughter Bee – and Rachel Zoe who arrived with Brad who quite clearly has a huge fan base.

Every editor, buyer and high profile stylist like me eagerly awaited the first exit.

Coats were first presented with had cocoon shaped sleeves which were colour-blocked in black and white or camel and white.

I loved the mini dresses which will appeal to Zoe Saldana, Leighton Meester and the rest of the young Hollywood hip crowd.

Ruffles, folds and embellishments gave these looks a sweet feel, but the darker colours gave them an edge.

Demi Moore would love a mixture of the tweed dresses and the cigarette pants which were white or grey at the front and black at the back. Brad’s chin hit the floor in admiration as he mouthed “OMG” as one of these looks hit the runway.

I loved this collection, one of my favourite looks was the definitely the gold mini with the asymmetrical ruffle neckline. This has to have a red carpet moment.

After the show I met Prabal backstage who gave me a big hug and thanked me for speaking so highly of this work on my blog.

When he makes clothes this stunningly beautiful and well tailored, what’s not to love?

In this video you can see Anna Wintour in the front row.

The woman who started our love affair with Prabal Gurung took her seat in the front row.

She looked so cute with her knit dress and sexy thigh-high boots.

Let’s hope she was Oscar shopping. That crimson gown would look amazing on her.

Adam Fall 2010

The one thing everyone was thinking when they viewed Adam’s Fall 2010 collection was, “I want it now”.

This was the first presentation I’ve attended so far that has presented knitwear, and with the cold temperatures in New York it made the knits with their chunky braids even more appealing.

The aviator theme in this collection was subtle and presented via the shearling leather jackets, the parachute skirts and high-waisted jodhpurs.

We were also presented with cardigans, cropped knit sweaters, khaki anoraks, shrugs, wool shorts and chiffon printed maxi dresses.

I really loved this collection which included some futuristic notes including a embossed silver corset bodice over a grey ensemble.

This whole collection was totally wearable.

Tinsley Mortimer was the only celeb I spotted in the front row.

Edition by Georges Chakra Fall 2010

I always look forward to Georges Chakra’s presentation during Fashion Week, as I expect many red carpet looks.

On this occasion the looks weren’t as dramatic as usual. It wasn’t until half way through the collection that I saw a single embellishment or sequin. So is Chakra toning down the drama?

No, because the last few gowns really had a lot of wow factor.

From the blood red gowns with thigh-high splits to the shimmering silver gowns with stunning star details cut into the back, high-end red carpet glamour is still Chakra’s focus.

I loved the back-to-front tuxedo dress, which was more sophisticated than the one Celine Dion wore the 1999 Oscars.

I’m not sure if it was because it was a Fall collection, but I was baffled by the tights paired with the thigh-high split gowns.

It wasn’t all about gowns. Cocktail dress, off-the-shoulder tops, lace pant suits and day dresses were presented in this collection.
