Last week Catherine and I attended the Chanel Spring 2010 press day.

We viewed the fantasy barn-themed pieces and accessories from Chanel’s Spring 2010 collection.

The collection is an eclectic mix of natural fibres, bold prints, sculpted jewellery and deluxe sportswear. There is something for everyone.

The first thing on my Spring wishlist are the awesome Chanel retro specs. Taking notes from nature the sunglasses are bordered with golden wheat ears with tinted chocolate frames to match. They are an unique alternative to the Wayfarer or Aviator styles that have been worn to death through seasons previously offering something special for sunny days.

This harvest theme continued into the accessories with rough textures forming a new-look Chanel bag. Woven neutrals; caramels, mushroom, and ecru with tattered materials in layers gave the classic bag a rustic-chic twist.

An adaptation of the clog has been created this season, in both a modest and more daring height. The shoes have a child-like, playful feel. Like something from Hansel and Gretal. This idea was further portrayed through the barnyard runway show which saw models skipping, dancing and smiling throughout.

Chanel have created a number of pieces that would make the gym seem less hard work and more playful. I love the personalised tennis racket and grey logo tracksuit. With matching pieces to layer, in purple, white and black, this bunch are made for showing off in.

We have been drooling over Thandie Newton’s red carpet choices for such a long time. She is the very epitome of style, class, elegance and sophistication.

Only Cate Blanchett can rival her when it comes to total head-to-toe perfection.

On the cover of InStyle UK’s December 2009 issue - which is out now - Thandie graces the cover looking stunning wearing a white RM by Roland Mouret Maestro wool crepe dress paired with exquisite silver jewelery.

You see Thandie smoldering in her InStyle UK shoot by watching the behind the scenes video.

In editorial below we see her wearing Chanel Couture, Alexander McQueen, Louis Vuitton and Maison Martin Margiela.

She opens up to Danielle Hine about her passions: film, family and fashion.

On being a 37-year-old mom of two but still having a ballet dancer’s figure: “That’s genetic! And I’m a Jivamukti yoga freak - it’s food for my soul. When I’m not working, I’ll drop Rip off at school and Nico at nursery, then I go to yoga. I also have an amazing personal trainer, who I see whenever I can.”

In February I tried on this Gustavo Cadile Fall 2009 gown on in the designers showroom. It was so beautiful I didn’t want to take it off.

I was so happy when Emily Deschanel wore the stunning tulle gown to the “49th Monte Carlo Television Festival Closing Ceremony” at the Grimaldi Forum in Monte-Carlo.

She looked breath-taking even though she opted for a black belt, rather than the runway bejeweled belt.

Eva Longoria wore the same dress when she hosted the 2009 ALMA Awards in Los Angeles last month.

Her dress was modified into a one-shouldered dress, as she swept her hair over her other shoulder.

As much as I love both versions, this gown worked better for me as it was intended as a strapless gown so Emily wins for me.

“After Life” Screening, LA

Christina Ricci never plays it safe and we love her for that.

The actress struck a fierce pose wearing a Marios Schwab black high-neck dress with crystal detail on the front.

Towering YSL Trib Two’s to completed the look.

This is the 3rd Marios Schwab look we’ve seen recently.

Leighton Meester and Cheryl Cole have also fallen in love with Schwab’s cutting edge designs.

“Dare” LA Premiere

Emmy Rossum is definitely on a roll.

The beautiful actress shimmered wearing a Donna Karan sequin jersey dress which she paired with Christian Louboutin t-bar heels whilst her tousled lock tumbled down her shoulders.

March of Dimes 4th Annual Celebration of Babies, LA

Halle Berry was every bit the yummy mummy flaunting her fabulous curves in this Yigal Azrouel long sleeved navy dress with a leather detail on the waist.

Grey suede shoes complete this stunning look.

Could her teeth be more white?

Nicole Richie motto is, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.

She’s been rocking the maxi dress look for a while now, and judging by this chocolate and ivory leaf print maxi dress she has no desire to switch things up anytime soon.

Can you believe she gave birth just 2 months ago?

“Broken Embraces” Rome Photocall

Penelope Cruz has been promoting “Broken Embraces” for a while now, so I guess the novelty of dressing up has worn off.

We all know a good set of heels can make us go weak at the knees.

Last week we were invited to view the new Rupert Sanderson Spring/Summer 2010 collection, giving us a great chance to see the latest fashions for our feet.

The shop in Mayfair, London became a slick showroom with Sanderson’s latest treats poised for perfect viewing. Overall the collection is a luxurious statement with the key being in Rupert’s attention to detail and quality craftsmanship.

The majority of the shoes have been starved of the chunky platform we have seen so much of recently. Rupert has chosen to refer back to a more slender heel with a delicate feel to each shoe, indicating elegance.

‘Estelle’ – with its curvaceous cut-outs and tight stitching- features as a favourite of this collection. Available in a fresh aqua satin or a moodier black (which also comes in leather) the antique-like look is a refreshing change from repetitive patent, plastic and platforms!

Hot Rod inspired ‘Alchemist’ is a more light-hearted take on this kind of sleek-look shoe, with flame-like cut-outs and a fiery colour to match.

Even simpler designs such as ‘Troy’ and ‘Tullia’ have been given Rupert’s TLC though. The designer’s signature pattern cuts deep into the side panel of each shoe, creating a ‘dip’ that gloriously elongates the leg. He has also introduced a ‘mid-heel’ for those less concerned with height. Freida Pinto is a fan. These heels achieve a smart, feminine look. I love their ‘goes-with-anything’ aesthetic.

Oh, and if they make my legs look like Charlize Theron’s then I’m definitely buying.

For a limited time only the lovely people at Rupert Sanderson have invited all RCFA readers to view a selection of the Spring 2010 collection exclusively.

The fact that Diane Kruger doesn’t use a stylist I think this makes us appreciate what she wears even more.

The beautiful actress kept her look simple, oozing effortless chic wearing a Fendi tuxedo jumpsuit with cut outs in the shoulders.

The jumpsuit has a tailored waist that sits above gentle pleats.

Sparkling Armani Privé bow accented heels and a black clutch complete the look.

Twilight actress Nikki Reed wore a sparkling Nanette Lepore gold sequin dress, but make it look less Christmasy by adding a black blazer to her look.

Fierce Jimmy Choo sandals and a gold studded black clutch complete her look.

Normally I always love what Zooey Deschanel wears because of her unique retro style which has so much personality.

But on this occasion the skirt on her Karen Walker dress is so short that you can see a glimpse of the rubber band part of her tights which isn’t very flattering.

The dress is very cute though.

Zoe Saldana makes tweed look sexy by wearing a tweed dress with a cut-out detail in the back.

Last night Eva Mendes attended the New York premiere of her new movie “Bad Lieutenant”.

The first thing that came to mind when I saw Eva Mendes wearing this Donna Karan Resort 2010 white shirt and black skirt combo was Carolina Herrera.

Not because Eva looks like her, but because a white skirt paired with an interesting skirt is very much a look I associate with Herrera as it is her signature look.

Unlike Herrera, Eva Mendes wore her classic white shirt without a bra.

What brings this look together for me is Eva’s black choker, without it the look wouldn’t have been as interesting.
