WSJ Magazine 2017 Innovator Awards Red Carpet Roundup

The WSJ Magazine 2017 Innovator Awards on Wednesday (November 1) in New York City were an elegant affair with many stylish attendees opting for an inky colour palette.

Naomi Campbell: Despite the asymmetrical proportions of her Jean Paul Gaultier Couture outfit, methinks many will be focused on the chain facial jewellery. She went for a show-stopping look, but I wish there were a few less accessories so we could better appreciate the way the dress merges into trousers.

Gwyneth Paltrow:
Donning Michael Kors Collection Spring 2018, the actress tempered a sleek white and black dress with an oversized black blazer. I’m sure many will describe this as shapeless, but I found the proportions refreshing. What’s more, I appreciate the way she carried it off with a relaxed elegance.

Maddie Ziegler:
The dancer struck a pose in a slinky Tommy Hilfiger slip dress which was enlivened by gold zigzags and inky sequined diamonds on the hem. The gold lace-up shoes tied in the frock’s detail while adding a fun element that was appropriate for her 15 years.

2017 amfAR & The Naked Heart Foundation Fabulous Fund Fair

Natalia Vodianova’s annual Fabulous Fund Fair for The Naked Heart Foundation traveled to New York City for the first time in partnership with amfAR on Saturday (October 28). Guests did not shirk their costume duties, either, for the Halloween-themed bash that saw a range of extravagant outfits.

Natalia Vodianova: There was no danger of missing the Naked Heart founder in the crowd, as she was the life-size incarnation of a Jeff Koons sculpture in her Andrey Bartenev balloon-esque design, further amped up by green Alexandre Vauthier Spring 2018 boots.

Naomi Campbell: There was almost more dress in the supermodel’s headdress than in her actual metallic-laced mini from The Blonds Fall 2017 collection.

Izabel Goulart: The model may have been channeling a Frida Kahlo-like spirit, but her Christian Dior Spring 2018 sheer embellished confection was very much within her go-to sexy style. Chopard jewels completed the look that was on the Red Carpet Wish List for Diane Kruger.

Get the look: Karlie Kloss’ desert-inspired warm makeup

Celebrity makeup artist Vincent Oquendo worked with Karlie Kloss for Dior’s Spring 2018 presentation yesterday in Paris, France.

“Karlie’s look for Dior was inspired by the desert, I’m very inspired by those warm orange and beige tones of the desert and the last Dior collection was shown in the desert it felt like a natural fit.”

“Karlie’s skin was prepped using Dr. Barbara Sturm Hyaluronic Acid Serum and Charlotte Tilburys Magic Cream. For creating luminous skin, a combination of Mac Face and Body and NARS Sheer Glow foundation in M2 was used as a base, followed by Serge Lutens Color Correcting Concealer.

To give structure to the cheekbones, Kevyn Aucoin’ Contour Pen in Medium was swiped under the cheekbones and blended into the foundation. To give more depth and warmth to the contour, Dior’s Diorskin Nude Air Tan was overlaid on top followed by Dior-skin Nude Air Luminizer on the high points of the cheekbones to create more dimension and a luminous glow. To give the skin color and classic French girl cheeks, Dior Blush in both Rose Chérie and New Red were lightly swiped over the apples of the cheeks and blended into the cheekbone, giving a rosey flush to the face.

Both blushes were also lightly washed over the eye lids to create a natural, mono chromatic feel. Karlies brows were shaped and feathered using Anastasia of Beverly Hills Eyebrow Powder Palette, and set with Glossier’s Boy Brow in Brown. The look was tied together by filling in the lips with Charlotte Tilburys Lip Pencil in Pillow Talk, topped off with Rouge Dior Liquid Lip in Jungle Matte and Dior Lip Glow.

Front Row @ Christian Dior Spring 2018

As could be expected, the Christian Dior Spring 2018 fashion show brought together a number of beautiful femmes to celebrate the new collection during Paris Fashion Week on Tuesday (September 26).

Natalia Vodianova: While we’ve seen the signature ‘ChristianDior’ straps on dresses before, I loved the beaded variation employed on this Dior orange feather dress that delivered the best of both worlds between whimsy and elegance. Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Janice’ black suede corset booties and a black velvet ‘Le Coeur de Dior’ bag rounded out the look with an edgy-Victorian, fall spirit.

Emily Ratajkowski: Opting to not wear Dior, Emily donned a Brock Collection Resort 2018 dress that walked the line between romantic softness and seduction with its corsetry bodice and thigh-high slit. The look was styled with Altuzarra D’Orsay canvas pumps.

Alexa Chung: The writing was on the walls—or the sweater and skirt—with this Christian Dior ‘Lascaux’ print ensemble that was inspired by the Paleolithic cave paintings in Lascaux, France. She also wore Dior black booties and a black glazed calfskin ‘C’est Dior’ flap bag to complete the artsy, casually sophisticated statement.

Swarovski Crystal Wonderland Party

It was a tale of babes in bold black dresses at the Swarovski Crystal Wonderland Party on Wednesday (September 20) in Milan.

Naomi Campbell: As opposed to going for her favoured sexy glamour, the supermodel charmed in a softer Azzedine Alaïa gown with a skinny low neckline and fitted waist. The half updo was also a twist on Naomi’s long, center-parted locks. I enjoyed seeing this side of her.

Jourdan Dunn:
The model looked ready to dance in this sexy bustier Zeynep Tosun dress with tiered skirt. As opposed to the typical fringe, the layers were constructed out of a tinsel-like material which created a modern allure.

Karlie Kloss:
The Swarovski brand ambassador turned heads in a custom Ronald van der Kemp dress. The two-tone creation is a departure from her more streamlined silhouettes. The pointed shoulders might read as dated to some, but it’s the contrasting red belt I’m struggling with. Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Harmony’ Sandals allowed the drama to remain up top.

BoF 500 Gala Red Carpet Roundup

Selena Gomez and Jared Leto weren’t the only two holding court at the BoF 500 Gala on Saturday (September 9) in New York City. Here, a look at the other guests in attendance.

Doutzen Kroes: The model showed off her form in a ruched and gathered Jason Wu Spring 2018 drawstring dress that offered a new twist on the LBD.

Lewis Hamilton: If Lewis’s confetti pants didn’t spell party, I don’t know what does. This Dior Homme look is fashion-forward without being overcooked or try-hard. Jared Leto may want to take notes.

Taylor Hill: I’m afraid this Julien Macdonald Fall 2017 metallic mini came across as a bit dated, but it was more the crimped hair and nude sandals that killed the vibe.
