Jude Law In Lanvin – British Independent Film Awards 2012

Shunning a traditional suit, Jude Law took to the red carpet at Old Billingsgate Market for the British Independent Film Awards 2012 yesterday evening.

He wore a Lanvin Spring 2012 navy button up jacket with grey pants and brown shoes.

I’m not sure how you feel, but if the event says ‘awards’ in the title, then surely a suit is required. No?

This is way too sloppy for my liking.

When it comes to Jude I have never understood the appeal. He has always reminded me of Tintin.

Zawe Ashton In Chalayan – British Independent Film Awards 2012

Zawe Ashton was challenging for the ‘Most Promising Newcomer’ of the year award when she stepped onto the red carpet at Old Billingsgate Market for the British Independent Film Awards 2012 yesterday evening.

The British actress has pretty much worn Hussein Chalayan exclusively this year for both her red carpet and TV appearances.

On this occasion she opted for a more sculptural piece from the designer’s Spring 2010 collection.

Her charcoal one-shoulder dress, which appears to have a slight modification around the centre part of the look, was amped up with striking red pumps and a silver Jimmy Choo clutch.

This look proves that edgy can be elegant.

Ruth Wilson In Jason Wu – British Independent Film Awards

Ruth Wilson walked the red carpet at Old Billingsgate Market in London yesterday evening for the British Independent Film Awards 2012.

Dressed in a Jason Wu Spring 2013 ensemble, the look works perfectly for a winter’s evening.

A gold Jason Wu ‘Karlie’ clutch and simple black peep-toes accessorise her look, which featured a long-sleeve stamped silk blouse with sheer lace sleeves, yoke and neck tie, paired with high-waist tapered pants with floral lace inserts at the sides.

Simple, effortless, got-ready-in-5-minutes chic at its best.

Felicity Jones In Christian Dior – British Independent Film Awards 2012

We haven’t seen much of Felicity Jones on the red carpet lately, but she did attend the British Independent Film Awards 2012 yesterday evening, which were held at Old Billingsgate Market in London.

Keeping things uber-simple, she wore a Christian Dior white silk dress with an etched rose-petal print plus a sheer yoke and sleeves.

Her red clutch provided a stark contrast to her dress, while the black pumps don’t add much at all.

While the dress is perfection, I can’t say the same about her accessories.

The face of Dolce & Gabbana makeup opted for barely-there makeup, with cat-eyes and silvery eye shadow completing her look.

Ashley Walters In Ben Sherman – British Independent Film Awards 2012

Ashley Walters joined Elle Fanning and Alicia Vikander on the red carpet yesterday evening at Old Billingsgate Market in London for the British Independent Film Awards 2012.

Giving me even more reason to enjoy featuring menswear, the actor donned a wine-coloured Ben Sherman suit.

Wearing one of Britain’s quintessential brands, the skinny fit – also known as a ‘Camden’ fit – single-breasted wool two-button suit featuring notched lapels and two flap pockets was styled with a white dress shirt and a quirky mustard-coloured bow-tie, which complemented the rich hue of his suit.

Alicia Vikander In Chanel Couture – British Independent Film Awards 2012

Alicia Vikander was also pretty in pink on the red carpet at Old Billingsgate Market in London yesterday evening for the British Independent Film Awards 2012.

The relatively unknown actress wowed in a Chanel Fall 2012 Couture gown.

Chanel are always very generous to up-and-coming actresses: Freida Pinto once said in an interview that many fashion houses ignored her requests in the early days except Chanel. I trust their eye for spotting stars who are ones-to-watch, considering they have also backed Bella Heathcote and Emilia Clarke.

Her pink frock with sheer stripes, a banded waistband and button detailing was lightly accented with shredded detailing on the sleeves and skirt, adding to the delicate nature of her ethereal frock.

Barely-there makeup, stone pumps and a half-up, half-down hairstyle completed this BDOTW-worthy look.
