Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Zawe Ashton In Sarah Baadarani - British Independent Film Awards 2013Zawe Ashton was also among the guest list at the British Independent Film Awards 2013, hosted at Old Billingsgate Market in London on Sunday night.

The British star covered up in a long-sleeve Sarah Baadarani crew-neck column gown in a soft, dove-grey shade.

There was hardly the hint of an accessory or jewel to be found here, which mirrored the simple style of the dress. Zawe also kept her swept-back hair and bronzed makeup on the casual side.

With such a minimalistic approach, the details must be spot-on. So, the slight wrinkles permeating the gown were more noticeable than I’d like. I was also wishing for some sort of statement sparkle to define the look.

Lovely or just too lacklustre?

Imogen Poots In Rag & Bone - British Independent Film Awards 2013

Imogen Poots attended the British Independent Film Awards 2013 held at Old Billingsgate Market in London on Sunday evening.

As always, there is a feeling of dishevelment when it comes to Imogen’s red carpet look, but there is something quite endearing about it.

She wore a crushed-silk Rag & Bone Spring 2014 look featuring black spaghetti straps, which she styled with a Prada clutch and pewter-glitter-and-black Prada platform peep-toes.

Kohl-rimmed eyes and a messy updo completed her look.

Charming or messy?

Joanne Froggatt In The Kooples - British Independent Film Awards 2013

Joanne Froggatt attended the British Independent Film Awards 2013 held at Old Billingsgate Market in London on Sunday evening.

Like Cate Blanchett, the ‘Downton Abbey’ star wore a black strapless jumpsuit. Unlike Cate Blanchett, Joanne’s The Kooples jumpsuit is available to purchase now.

I love how the neckline of this elegant strapless jumpsuit is trimmed with a thin satin band and notched detail to prevent it from looking too plain.

Usually the champion of colour, the actress wore all black here, adding a Louis Vuitton clutch and black Jimmy Choo pumps to her look.

Knowing me, I should be screaming for colour, but once again, as with Felicity Jones, I believe this look was styled perfectly, with nothing needing to be added or taken away.

Saoirse Ronan In Peter Pilotto - British Independent Film Awards 2013

Saoirse Ronan attended the British Independent Film Awards 2013 held at Old Billingsgate Market in London on Sunday evening.

The Irish actress selected a Peter Pilotto Spring 2014 colourful frock with a compelling black floral overlay which gives this summery dress a more dark and mysterious vibe.

Delfina Delettrez jewels and simple black leather sandals styled the look, with Saoirse wearing her hair down and opting for a smoky eye and pink lip.

The last Peter Pilotto Spring 2014 dress didn’t translate too well on the red carpet; I’m sure you will agree that this one is much more successful.

Hayley Atwell In Jasper Conran - British Independent Film Awards 2013

I was delighted to see Hayley Atwell stay on the elegant path while taking to the red carpet at the British Independent Film Awards 2013 held at Old Billingsgate Market in London yesterday evening.

Celebrating British fashion, she wore a Jasper Conran Spring 2014 black sleeveless gown with a ball-skirt and contrasting white Peter Pan collar, which she complemented with a white Jimmy Choo snakeskin clutch.

While some might think this is a school-marmish frock, I really love the simple elegance of the look.

Shunning a traditional suit, Jude Law took to the red carpet at Old Billingsgate Market for the British Independent Film Awards 2012 yesterday evening.

He wore a Lanvin Spring 2012 navy button up jacket with grey pants and brown shoes.

I’m not sure how you feel, but if the event says ‘awards’ in the title, then surely a suit is required. No?

This is way too sloppy for my liking.

When it comes to Jude I have never understood the appeal. He has always reminded me of Tintin.
