Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Zooey Deschanel is full of surprises when it comes to her red carpet looks these days.

The first thing I noticed when she arrived on the red carpet for the 2012 Teen Choice Awards on Sunday evening was the smoothed-out locks in place of Zooey’s signature curls.

Second: no tights for a second time in a row.

The ‘New Girl’ actress chose to wear a cobalt-blue Monique Lhuillier Resort 2013 sleeveless dress with a leather belt.

I’m delighted to see Zooey fully embrace the summer event, but I would’ve loved this look had the dress been a bit shorter.

Her Giuseppe Zanotti bow-adorned black pumps pull down the look, but I do love her Jimmy Choo clutch.

Taylor Swift also attended the 2012 Teen Choice Awards in Universal City, California, on Sunday evening.

The singer seems to have moved on from her ‘sequins and sparkles’ phase and fully committed to the ‘neutrals only’ phase we’re seeing now.

For the summer-centric awards show, Taylor chose a cream Maria Lucia Hohan dress.

The delicate silk mousseline cocktail dress reveals an interesting low back with illusion detailing – just a shame about the visible adjoining detail.

Pale pink Prada slingbacks, an Edie Parker ‘Lara’ nude pearlescent clutch with ice ends, diamond-and-rose quartz earrings, plus a diamond bracelet from Lorraine Schwartz complete the head-to-toe neutral look.

Her wavy lock were styled into a chic chignon with a beautiful brooch detail.

Are you crying out for a pop of colour or statement piece to liven up this look or do you love this look as it is?

Lucy Hale added a splash of colour to the pink carpet on Sunday night at the 2012 Teen Choice Awards, held in Universal City, California.

The ‘Pretty Little Liars’ nominee was radiant in a bright red Wes Gordon Spring 2012 halter dress.

Like Selena Gomez, Lucy opted for a sweet fit-n-flare look to accentuate her petite figure.

Gold sparkly Brian Atwood platforms are a playful choice for the fun awards show. Her gold shoes complemented her Jimmy Choo ‘Cameo’ minaudière, her Bing Bangs Vivienne tiny stud earrings and Giles & Brother gold bracelets.

A loose side braid and red lip colour, which matched her dress, completed the look.

No longer a ‘teen’, Selena Gomez celebrated her 20th birthday on Sunday night at the 2012 Teen Choice Awards in Universal City, California.

The birthday girl matched the pink carpet, wearing a fit-n-flare Dsquared² Resort 2013 dress.

This girly silhouette has been having quite a moment lately, and Selena pulls off the trend to a T.

Sleek centre-parted hair and smoky eyes add a perfect sultry touch to the birthday girl’s look.

Lana Jewelry star burst earrings and cream strappy Herve Leger by Max Azria sandals add the finishing summery touch.

You may remember that Anna Dello Russo wore this same dress during Milan Menswear Fashion Week recently.

Winning “Best TV Actress in a Fantasy/Sci-Fi Series” for ‘The Vampire Diaries’, Nina Dobrev took to the pink carpet at the 2012 Teen Choice Awards in Universal City, California, on Sunday evening.

Nina looked gorgeous wearing a J. Mendel dress.

The silk-faille bustier frock stands out on the carpet thanks to its stunning emerald-green colour and sculptural detail on the skirt.

Gold Jimmy Choo ‘Gana’ booties, a Kotur clutch and silver Coomi jewels accessorize the look.

A sun-kissed glow and sleek locks styled with two thin braids provide the finishing touches.

Lea Michele hit the pink carpet in Universal City, California, on Sunday night for the 2012 Teen Choice Awards.

The ‘Glee’ star donned one of the night’s sexiest looks, wearing a strapless silver Atelier Versace Spring 2012 textured mini dress with gold metallic peplum details.

Exaggerated detailing along the hips accentuate Lea’s petite figure.

Her silver Versace pumps, however, feel a bit too heavy for the feminine dress. Strappy sandals would have been much preferred.

Sun-kissed ombre waves and a fresh-faced glow add a youthful touch.

Love, loathe or too much for the Teen Choice Awards?
