Shailene Woodley In Lyn Devon - Film Independent Spirit Awards 2014

Nominated for Best Female Lead in ‘The Spectacular Now,’ Shailene Woodley was also among the ‘it’ list at the 2014 Film Independent Spirit Awards, hosted at Santa Monica Beach in California on Saturday (March 1).

After her peachy-keen dress at the Publicists Awards Luncheon, the starlet showed off a textured teal look from Lyn Devon’s Spring 2014 collection.

Taking on a slight boho vibe, especially when worn with Casadei flat sandals, the button-accented cropped top and high-waist skirt lost some of its more impeccably chic lookbook appeal.

One too many inches of midriff were on display here, and the skirt—now floor-scraping—seemed poorly fitting. If I were to really nitpick, the pendant necklace was also a bothersome distraction.

A few tweaks here and there, and this could have been a standout, cool-girl statement.

Lake Bell In Stella McCartney - Film Independent Spirit Awards 2014

Lake Bell was also in attendance at the 2014 Film Independent Spirit Awards, held on Saturday (March 1) at Santa Monica Beach in Santa Monica, California.

The actress-director, nominated for Best First Screenplay ‘In a World…’, wore a Stella McCartney Pre-Fall 2014 midnight-navy dress, punctuated by an exploded, graphic black circle print.

Here, she turned up the volume in this exaggerated, asymmetric shape, which featured a slit at the side.

Even when styled with classic black Gianvito Rossi suede and mesh pumps, as opposed to the lookbook’s brogues, this is a challenging silhouette to pull off.

Did she succeed, or do you just see an elevated, fancier version of a burlap sack?

Paula Patton In Lorena Sarbu - Film Independent Spirit Awards 2014

Paula Patton attended the 2014 Film Independent Spirit Awards at Santa Monica Beach on Saturday (March 1) in Santa Monica, California.

The ‘About Last Night’ actress was all smiles as she hit the red carpet; glowing in a bright yellow mini Lorena Sarbu dress with a floral lace overlay.

Nude Christian Louboutin pumps and Anito Ko jewels accessorized her look, with neutral makeup providing the finishing touch.

While we love Paula, we’ve often criticized her style; but this is, without question, one of her best red carpet looks in a while. Fancy that.

Krysten Ritter In Versace - Film Independent Spirit Awards 2014

Krysten Ritter vamped up the blue carpet at the 2014 Film Independent Spirit Awards, hosted on Saturday (March 1) at Santa Monica Beach in Santa Monica, California.

Striking a perfect pose, the actress delivered a dose of ferocious style to the proceedings in a Versace Fall 2013 bodycon frock, polished up with a pair of gold metallic Rubert Sanderson ‘Elba’ pumps.

Peppered at the front and centre with an abstracted yellow animal print, the edgy dress also featured curve-enhancing black vinyl at the sides and back.

She balanced the sultry punk look with a sleek black Tyler Alexandra clutch and a simple approach to hair and makeup, wearing wavy black locks and a simple blush-nude lip. No need to overdo the edgy effect, after all.

Do you like the drama she brought to the event?

Elisabeth Rohm In Maria Lucia Hohan - Film Independent Spirit Awards 2014

Elisabeth Rohm attended the 2014 Film Independent Spirit Awards at Santa Monica Beach on Saturday (March 1) in Santa Monica, California.

The actress wore a Maria Lucia Hohan gown in a beautiful tangerine hue that features the Romanian designers signature illusion panels.

As we all know illusion panels can be tricky, but here it matches Elisabeth’s tan perfectly.

While the gown looks very much like every other gown the designer has ever created, this is a gorgeous look for Elisabeth.

Coral lips, subtle wavy tresses and a Longchamp clutch rounded out her look.
