Platino Awards 2017

The Platino Awards 2017 were held on Saturday (July 22) in Madrid, Spain with a number of stars putting forth their glamorous side for Ibero-America’s annual film awards.

Mar Saura: Adding a gilded touch to her glamorous approach, Mar was striking in a Georges Hobeika fit-and-flare gown with golden embellishment. I love how her simple, complementary styling prevented any possibility of an overcooked look, keeping the dress on the right side of sophistication.

Juana Acosta: With a look that prioritized sharp elegance, Juana wore a Michael Kors Collection black gown for an asymmetrical look that left me with mixed feelings on the singular sling sleeve.

Sonia Balaco: Between the feathered plumage and the thigh-bearing, bow-bearing cutouts, there was a lot to take in with this Diogo Miranda Fall 2017 frock, so I’m glad she kept the accessories on the more minimal side with Monseo jewels, a Louis Vuitton clutch, and Christian Louboutin sandals. I will always struggle to find the flattering side of a gaping cutout placed at the high hip, though.

Nieves Alvarez In Temperley London – Porcelanosa Opening

Nieves Alvarez was at the Porcelanosa store opening in Mallorca, Spain on Wednesday (July 19)

I loved seeing Nieves take on the wonderland charm of this Temperley London Pre-Fall 2017 dress.

She brought a sleek elegance to the nearly psychedelic bent of its folksie flora motif.

Aquazzara sandals, a gold Elie Saab clutch and Bulgari jewels completed the colourfully chic picture.

Harper’s Bazaar Summer Party (Fiesta 150 Aniversario de Harper’s Bazaar)

A whole host of fashionable and famous figures descended on Harper’s Bazaar 150th anniversary party at Casa de Velazquez on Wednesday (June 28) in Madrid, Spain.

Raquel Sánchez-Silva: The journalist showcased the cyclical nature of style as she donned a Gucci Spring 2017 gown previously worn by Cate Blanchett back in October. It’s easy to see why the ladies wanted to wear this gown; the gorgeous ruffled shoulders bring to mind petals whilst the red bow belt adds yet more intrigue. I love Raquel’s sleek up-do which allows the look to shine to full effect. However, her choice of clutch cheapens the look.

Paz Vega: Looking incredibly polished and chic, the actress opted for a midnight-blue Dsquared gown featuring an open back dress which gave this ensemble a sophisticated yet seductive vibe.

Mónica Cruz In Mónica Cordera – World Pride Pre-Party

Mónica Cruz looked magical at the World Pride pre-party photocall on Monday (June 26) in Madrid, Spain.

The actress wore a Mónica Cordera Fall 2017 dress which had a plunging neckline and fit and flare silhouette, giving grown-up princess vibes.

I love the midi-length which is very of the moment, but paired with the Mary Jane shoe it felt a touch juvenile and brought to mind a school prom.

The bold clutch is bringing an extra dimension to this look.

Nieves Alvarez In Elie Saab – ‘Yo Dona’ International Awards 2017

Nieves Alvarez attended the ‘Yo Dona’ International Awards at the Palacio de los Duques de Pastrana on Monday (June 19) in Madrid, Spain.

This Elie Saab Spring 2017 sequin gown is evocative of disco nights and glamorous evenings.

I love the strategic placement of the star design which emphasizes the waist and the grown-up fairy-tale aesthetic which is imbued by the bright blue hue.

Some of you are over these embellished gowns, but for me Nieves breathes fresh life into the tried-and-true red carpet formula.

When I comes to Nieves’ Giuseppe Zanotti sandals and Yliana Yepez bag I feel they are perfectly complementary, however, I wish she’d taken cues from the runway and had some more fun with her accessories. That goes for the Bulgari jewels too.
