Chosen as the inaugural host for 2018 SAG Awards, Kristen Bell was certainly the belle of this ball at this year’s awards ceremony.
While the bubbly actress chose a stunning pink J.Mendel gown for the red carpet, she sporting a trio of beautifully designed black dresses throughout the ceremony. To complement her collection of ensembles during the evening, Celebrity Makeup Artist Simone Almekias-Siegl created a beauty look that was bold and injected a bit of elegant color throughout.
In discussion with both Nicole Chavez (fashion stylist) and Jenny Cho (hairstylist), Simone chose a look that harmonized with Kristen’s full look. Focusing on skincare, a personal passion for Simone, she created a flawless and ultra-moisturized foundation before creating her plum-toned beauty look. Using Neutrogena’s versatile collection, here’s how she achieved this look:
SKIN: Prepping skin was crucial for this look. Starting with cleansing the skin with Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes, Simone followed with an intensely hydrating and skin smoothing Neutrogena HydroBoost HydroGel Face Sheet Mask. A favorite for her, Simone details the many benefits of this mask. “It plumps the skin and smoothens out fine lines under your eyes,” says Simone. To further moisturize both the skin and under eye area which also acted as a primer, Simone massaged Neutrogena Hydro Water Gel and Eye Cream into Kristen’s skin.
FACE: For a flawless and breathable base, Simone blended Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Tint (Foundation) in Buff onto the skin. For brightness under the eyes, she followed by applying Neutrogena Hydro Boost Concealer Stick in Light. To make Kristen’s cheeks pop, she softly buffed Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blends in Sunkissed on the cheeks.
EYES: To create that seductive and elegant plum smoky eye look, Simone used a blend of both Neutrogena Nourishing Long Wear Eye Shadow with Primer in Cool Plum mixed with Cocoa Mauve. For a final eye-framing finish, Simone coated Kristen’s lashes with a few layers of Neutrogena Hydro Boost Mascara in Black/Brown for lasting volume and definition.
LIPS: Prior to color, Simone primed Kristen’s lips with Neutrogena Hydro Boost Lip Treatment for a nourishing base. She followed up with Hydro Boost Hydrating Lip Treatment in True Nude for a delicate nude color.

A departure from her usual ultra-chic and elegant style, Mandy Moore opted for more playful and super glamorous ‘70’s-inspired look for this year’s SAG Awards. From her custom cobalt Ralph Lauren dress to her warm, subtly smoky makeup, Mandy’s full look was certainly inspired by the beauties of the disco era. Above all, it was her airy, texturized curled hairstyle that brought this modern ‘70’s-like style to life.
Created by the super talented Celebrity Hairstylist Ashley Streicher, Mandy’s side parted waves were all about volume and rich texture which beautifully complemented her dazzling sequin dress. Using a vintage approach with a masterful blend of texturizers, the result was a cool hair style that borrowed from the classic hair looks of the popular dance era. Here’s how Ashley created this fun look without looking dated:
PREP: Start with freshly clean hair and let air dry. To create a foundation of that great texture seen in Mandy’s hair, Ashley re-dampened the hair by layering a blend of both Christophe Robin Instant Volumizing Mist with Rosewater and Reverie Surf Spray. The volumizing properties in both products mixed with the salty agents in the Reverie spray enhanced Mandy’s natural hair while adding shine and a tousled texture.
STYLE: Once prepped, Ashley sectioned the hair for heat styling. Beginning with the top front section, she used the Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer and evenly blew out each segment with a Harry Josh Pro Tools Round Brush. While still warm, Ashley prepped each section with Garnier Full Control Hairspray before wrapping each section around 1 ¼ inch Velcro rollers. After the complete set of rollers were put in, Ashley sprayed the hair in a layer of Garnier Flexible Hold Hairspray and let them cool for 20 minutes.
Thereafter, each roller was neatly undone, and the hair was flipped over to shake out the freshly rolled curls. She then when back to each section and brushed each with a flat boar bristle brush, gently back-combing as she brushed. Not only did this add an extra layer of thickness and hold to each curl but soften the texture as well. Before moving on to the next section, she sprayed in some Garnier Flexible Hold Hairspray.
FINISH: Once done, Ashley parted Mandy’s hair on the side and neatly brushed the side, gathering it behind the ear and securing it in place with a thin bobby pin. For a ‘70’s textured look, she back brushed the pinned hair without completely disrupting the shape of the curls. Finally, Ashley sprayed the completed look with Rene Furterer Texture Vegetal Spray for a touchable hold that lasted through the festive evening without losing its shape or volume.

Allison Williams sported a dramatic beauty look for the 2018 SAG Awards, a first for her this awards season, swapping her otherwise romantic and soft beauty styles for a bolder and statement making look.
The stunning look created by Celebrity Makeup Artist Kelsey Deenihan was all about recreating the beauty and magic of Old Hollywood.
Her stunning and quite sparkly beaded and tasseled Ralph & Russo Couture gown was reminiscent of the dresses worn by the stylish socialites of the Jazz Age, and Kelsey wanted to incorporate some of that vintage glitz into her award’s look. To complement the drama of Allison’s dress, Kelsey kept the focal point of the look on a bold, classic red lip with a wine undertone. Here’s how she created this ultra-glam look:
SKIN: Kelsey really concentrated on treating the skin prior to applying the makeup. She believes that properly prepping the skin allows for an even and radiant base for foundation and beyond. Additionally, she loves to use a mask prior to any glam session if time permits. Thankfully, this was the case for this session and started off by applying Kiehl’s Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Mask to Allison’s skin. Its five-minute application allowed the skin to brighten up and instantly boosted its radiance. For added radiance and diffusing of any fine lines or wrinkles on the skin, Kelsey applied a layer of Kiehl’s Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate after the mask.
Hydration was the next crucial factor to tackle during her skin prep as parched, lack-luster skin rarely holds makeup well. She massaged a layer of Kiehl’s Ultra Facial cream onto Allison’s skin and Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado to her under eye area. The skin under the eyes is more delicate than that of the rest of the skin and requires an extra layer of hydration. This also prevents the concealer from creasing or looking dry later in the evening.
FACE: Once the skin was properly prepped and moisturized, Allison primed the skin with Kiehl’s Micro-Blur Skin Perfector to diminish any excess shine and created a flawless canvas for foundation. Using a foundation brush, she blended the product onto her forehead and cheeks. Kelsey then, using a damp sponged, lightly buffed a layer of Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation in Number 3.5 onto the skin and brought it down to the décolletage. To brighten up the eye area, she dotted Avon True Color Ideal Nude Cream Concealer in Neutral and blended it out. For a subtle contour, Kelsey sculpted Allison’s cheekbones with Avon True Color Transforming Contour Stick in Medium and highlighted them with Avon True Color Illuminating Stick for added glow. To mimic that natural lit from within radiance, she tapped the Illuminating Stick onto the cheeks and blended the iridescence with her finger.
EYES: Moving to the eyes, Kelsey dusted the lids with Avon True Color Flawless Loose Powder to serve as a base for shadow. Using the Avon True Color Multi-Finish Eyeshadow Quad in Urban Skyline, she blended Shade #3, which is a grey-toned black, to the lash line and outer corners for definition. For further definition and drama, Avon True Color Glimmersticks Eye Liner in Blackest Black was applied to the upper lash line. Finally, to finish the eye look, Kelsey coated Allison’s lashes with a few layers of Avon True Color SuperExtend Nourishing Mascara in Black.
LIPS: Prior to applying color, Kelsey primed Allison’s lips with Kiehl’s Facial Fuel No-Shine Moisturizing Lip Balm for a smooth and ultra-hydrated pout. She then used a blend of Avon True Color Perfectly Matte Lipstick in Superb Wine and Supreme Red to create that bold red lip seen on Allison.

Vintage Hollywood glamour came to mind the moment Reese Witherspoon stepped onto the SAG Awards red carpet this past Sunday.
The Big Little Lies actress stunned in a form-fitting, emerald toned Zac Posen gown that hinted at the classic styles of old Hollywood movie stars. The timeless off-the-shoulder silhouette of the dress beautifully framed her soft, side swept curled hair style.
Hairstylist Lona Vigi wanted to create a timeless hair look that felt Old Hollywood yet modern, much like the dramatic chevron print dress Reese wore for the evening’s event. The inspiration for the look came from a conversation with fashion stylist Petra Flannery where they both worked on a campaign for Elizabeth Arden. The final look was all about touchable curls that elegantly fell to her shoulders without losing shape. It was a fresh take on what Lona described as “total movie star hair.” Here’s how you can recreate this beautiful look yourself:
PREP: Starting with freshly washed hair, work in a heat protective leave in conditioner to damp hair. Using your fingers, apply the conditioner from the roots to tips and evenly distribute throughout the hair.
STYLE (Part 1): Once the priming layer of heat protectant is applied, Lona sections the hair and focuses on styling the front, face-framing sections of the hair. She applies gel to the front sections of hair and gathers each into a wave. To promote hold and to further develop the wave shape, she secures each section with flat clips. Once these front sections are dry, Lona sprays each with hairspray to set the desired wave.
STYLE (Part 2): Moving to the bottom sections of the hair, she uses a Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer and meticulously blow dries each section with an Ibiza Hair Round Brush. Using Dyson’s high powered dryer not only cut down styling time but left Reese’s hair smooth with a healthy sheen. Once dried, Lona parted the hair to the side, grabbed a curling iron and curled each freshly blown out section in vertical curls.
FINISH: When the hair is fully curled and the pins are let out, gently brush the hair to blend while focusing on preserving the sexy, modern Old Hollywood waved shape of the hair. To lock in the look and add an extra touch of body, back comb various sections of the hair once in a swift motion. To tame those pesky fly-aways or baby hairs along the face, Lona’s favorite red carpet trip is to sprtiz a toothbrush with hairspray and brush down these troubling hairs.
