Sally Hawkins In Christian Dior Couture – 2018 SAG Awards

Sally Hawkins attended the 2018 SAG Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday (January 21).

The nominee wore a Christian Dior Fall 2017 Couture gown with a Tyler Ellis clutch, Stuart Weitzman ‘Queen’ pumps and Irene Neuwirth jewels.

Never one to shy away from bold fashion, Sally wears this in a way that many people could not. While it is definitely what many would refer to as a ‘lot of look’, I love how graphic and unique it is. The length is perfect on Sally’s petite frame, and I can’t help but smile, because she looks like she’s genuinely enjoying wear it.

I will say, I miss the belt from the runway presentation. Without it, the center of the print looks like a bullseye, and I find myself staring straight at it, every time I look at the gown.

Mary J Blige In Jean-Louis Sabaji – 2018 SAG Awards

Mary J. Blige attended the 2018 SAG Awards on Sunday (January 21) in Los Angeles, California, where she was nominated for two awards.

The ‘Mudbound’ actress skipped shimmering embellishment for a Jean-Louis Sabaji dress that had a striking feather effect.

I’m sure that there will be many ‘Black Swan’ comparisons for the way the long white sleeve and feathers fade to black.

The detail was unique but very flattering because of how it drew attention to her face and frame.

David Webb jewels added some sparkle.

Gina Rodriguez In Rasario – 2018 SAG Awards

Gina Rodriguez stepped out at the 2018 SAG Awards on Sunday (January 21) alongside Kelly Marie Tran, Hong Chau and Zoe Kazan.

The ‘Jane the Virgin’ actress was on presenting duties and wore a Rasario Resort 2018 dress for the occasion.

I appreciate the concept, but don’t think the gown came together as cohesive as it could have.

The softly gathered skirt feels off against the graphic nature of the top with contrasting cups and boning.

Had it been designed in an A-line silhouette with black banding across the bottom, it would have been more harmonious.

The dark bodice was still successful for showing off her Time’s Up pin.

Leslie Mann In Zuhair Mura – 2018 SAG Awards

Leslie Mann walked the red carpet of the 2018 SAG Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday (January 21).

A presenter at the show, Leslie wore a gown from the Zuhair Murad Resort 2018 collection.

As usual, I simply love Leslie Mann and what she brings to the red carpet table. The drape of this gown was absolutely divine as Leslie walked on the carpet and presented on the stage. The print is quite unique and largely editorial, but it doesn’t lose its way on the red carpet, but rather comes to life all the more in this setting.

Ever-so-simple hair and a blue smokey eye are red carpet beauty done right.

Marisa Tomei In Laura Basci – 2018 SAG Awards

Marisa Tomei was another star who opted for both the sparkly and the shorter dress trend at the 2018 SAG Awards on Sunday (January 21) in LA.

I thought the rose-gold beading of her custom Laura Basci dress was beautiful on her.

Although part of me was left wishing for a sleek updo rather than her long waves to further bring a sharp sense of modernity to the look.

She accessorised with a metallic Tyler Ellis clutch to further echo the golden-blush tones of the frock.

Yvonne Strahovski In Ester Abner – 2018 SAG Awards

Yvonne Strahovski attended the 2018 SAG Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday (January 21).

The actress wore a white lace Ester Abner Resort 2018 gown with diamond chandelier earrings.

I absolutely love the presence of a shirtdress on the red carpet. And a lace shirtdress? I’m in heaven! And while wearing it unbuttoned to create both a v-neckline and a front split, as seen in the lookbook, may be more expected for a red carpet gown, I love the effect it takes all buttoned up as Yvonne is wearing it. I do miss the belt from the lookbook ever so slightly, as the pop of gold adds some fun appeal.

But that one detail notwithstanding, I absolutely love how unique this gown is, and it may just be one of my favorites from the night.

Are you as smitten by this as I am?
