Always one to make a statement, award-winner singer, Lorde sported a beautifully bold waved hairstyle at MTV Video Music Awards (August 24th).

Celebrity hairstylist, Andy LeCompte drew inspiration from Jerry Hall’s signature waved tresses and developed a look that perfectly topped off Lorde’s look of the evening.

It was essential that the hairstyle look elegant and touchable while retaining its sheen long after its initial styling. This touchable and glamorous hairstyle can easily be recreated by following these simple tips:

Prep: Staring with clean, freshly washed hair was a must. Andy washed and conditioned Lorde’s hair using Wella Professionals Brilliance Shampoo and Conditioner.

Styling (blowout): Once hair was thoroughly washed, Andy prepped her hair with Wella Professionals LuxeOil Keratin Boost Leave In Conditioning Spray. He applied the product while the hair was still damp to insure the perfect base for heat styling. He followed by blow drying the hair using a large ceramic brush to create natural and smooth volume.

Styling (wave): To create the classic Jerry Hall look, Andy parted Lorde’s hair in a deep side part and curled the hair with an 1 ½ inch ceramic curling iron. Starting from the base all the way to the crown of the hair, Andy created long loose waves.

Setting: To get that impeccable shine, he applied 2-3 pumps of Wella Professionals LuxeOil Reconstructive Elixir and warmed it up between his palms. He gently ran the product through the curls to neatly define the waves and lock in the sheen.

Finish: Andy added a final finishing touch to the hair by lightly misting the waves with Wella Professionals Stay Essential Finishing Spray. Not only does this tame any pesky flyaways but hair looks healthy and touchable long after the first spay.

Try your hand at this chic hairstyle and you’ll surely fell like a royal all evening.

MTV Video Music Awards Menswear Roundup

Lest you think last night’s 2014 MTV Video Music Awards #VMA were all about the ladies, a few men sauntered out their style profiles too at The Forum in Inglewood, California.

Nick Jonas: The singer represented for the former Jonas Brothers, looking sharp in a lively Vivienne Westwood MAN navy windowpane waistcoat jacket and vest. Not taking the outfit too seriously, he wore slouchy black denim and black boots which offset the more buttoned-up effect of that riff on a period jacket.

Common: Also in Vivienne Westwood MAN, the rapper brought plenty of attitude to the evening with his brown sweater, complete with leather-look sleeves, black jeans and a pair of statement shades. He wouldn’t have been out of place on the ‘Star Trek’ set.

Sam Smith: Before taking to the VMAs stage for a soulful rendition of ‘Stay With Me,’ Sam was on the red carpet. His Gucci navy notch-lapel, two-button Signoria three-piece suit, worn tie-less with a white evening shirt and brown leather monk strap shoes, may not be the most memorable, but his performance most certainly was.

Nicki Minaj In Saint Laurent - 2014 MTV Video Music Awards #VMA

Nicki Minaj attended the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards held at The Forum on Sunday (August 24) in Inglewood, California.

Mixing Hollywood glamour with a sassy vibe in wild spirit of ‘Anaconda,’ the singer wore a Saint Laurent Fall 2014 gold shimmering dress with a high hemline balanced out with long sleeves.

Nude Saint Laurent pumps, a Veronica Lake coif and a glossy neutral lip rounded out her look.

I have to say I really loved this look. Sexy without being to in your face. Do you agree?

Beyonce Knowles In Tom Ford & Zuhair Murad - 2014 MTV Video Music Awards #VMA

Beyonce Knowles had a very busy night at the VMAs.

Not only did she performing a medley of tracks from her latest self titled album Beyonce, including ‘Mine,’ ‘Haunted,’ ‘No Angel,’ and Drunk In Love’, but she also collected a ton of well-deserved awards including the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, Best Collaboration for ‘Drunk in Love’ with Jay Z, Best Video with a Social Message for ‘Pretty Hurts,’ and Best Cinematography for ‘Pretty Hurts.’

Performance: Working a typical Sasha Fierce look for her performance, the singer donned a Tom Fall Spring 2014 bodysuit with a colourful shattered glass effect which she styled with fishnet tights and booties.

Press Room: Proudly holding her Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award the singer donned yet another figure-hugging long sleeve embellished gown from Zuhair Murad’s Fall 2014 collection. Many of you commented on her red carpet look, which is similar in style to this, that Bey relies on this fitted silhouette far too often. While I would throw my hands up in agreement, I will also say that it’s a look that works so well for her, that if it ain’t broke why fix it? I much prefer this look over the Nicolas Jebran Couture gown. Which do you prefer?
