Millie Bobby Brown In Rodarte – 2017 MTV VMAs

You weren’t a fan of Millie Bobby Brown’s Teen Choice Awards look, so I’m intrigued to find out your thoughts on her 2017 MTV Video Music Awards outfit on Sunday (August 27).

Rodarte is no stranger to the dark side, often flirting with Gothic romance and disheveled grandeur in its collections, however, this Spring 2017 blouse and skirt possess neither.

That is partly due to the youthful exuberance of Millie plus the playful polka dots, bohemian undertone and dramatic proportions of the ensemble.

Shunning the standard sandals and pumps by wearing utilitarian boots adds further weight to this measured red carpet look.

Nicki Minaj In Vex Latex – 2017 MTV VMAs

I was under the impression that Nicki Minaj had shelved her cartoonish red carpet looks, but that wasn’t the case at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday (August 27).

The rapper donned two custom Vex Latex looks; one in tribute to her Harajuku Barbie alter ego, the other to NFL referees.

While you might be thinking she looks ridiculous, I’m thinking she must have sweat buckets in these restrictive outfits.

Demi Lovato In Zuhair Murad Couture – 2017 MTV VMAs

Demi Lovato was one of the many start to take to the red carpet for the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday (August 27).

While there hasn’t been much to get excited about on this red carpet, I have to say this Zuhair Murad Fall 2016 Couture look did pique my interest.

Sheer done tastefully and an interesting take on hippy harem pants, but I’m sure many will discount this look as a glorified Aladdin costume.

Amber Rose In Yousef Al-Jasmi – 2017 MTV VMAs

There was one person I didn’t instantly recognise at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday (August 27), and that was Amber Rose.

Without her blonde buzzcut she looked like a different woman wearing a sheer Yousef Aljasmi embellished gown, which by her standards was pretty demure.

They say, “who said a change is as good as a rest”.

So what are you thoughts on Amber’s metaphoric transformation?

Butani diamond link earrings and Hearts on Fire diamond rings completed her look.

Lorde In Monique Lhuillier & Jourden x Nike VaporMax – 2017 MTV VMAs

Lorde attended the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday (August 27) , where she performed her new single, ‘Homemade Dynamite’.

Red Carpet: It’s not often Lorde gives us a princess moment, but this Monique Lhuillier Spring 2018 gown was one to behold. The look was simple and effortless and one for her hall of fame. It would’ve been easy to slip a quirk in here, as it was the VMAs, but I’m happy she didn’t disrupt the purity of the look.

Performance: Cranking things up several gears; Lorde channeled her inner Bjork for the performance wearing an Jourden x Nike VaporMax silver ruffled mullet dress paired with Nike sweats and sneakers. It may seem like an odd combo, but I will take this as a performance piece when it could’ve so easily – with a few more inches – been a red carpet look.

Yara Shahidi In Zimmermann & Rodarte – 2017 MTV VMAs

Yara Shahidi also opted for two stylish looks for the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday (August 27), with asymmetry her red carpet M.O.

The first was a sleek Zimmermann gold gown which may have suffered with some creases at the waist, yet she still looked utterly radiant.

This was my favourite of the two.

Her Rodarte Fall 2017 pearl embellished bustier top and skirt possessed plenty after-party appeal. I love how fresh and youthful this look is.

However, looking at both ensembles, my feeling is that her Rodarte look would’ve looked better with her rose-gold Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Darcie’ sandals.

Hailey Baldwin In Zuhair Murad Couture & Alexandre Vauthier Couture- 2017 MTV VMAs

With the spirit of JLo coursing through her veins, Hailey Baldwin required two looks for the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday (August 27) .

Opting for two shock value jumpsuits, I have to say I’m leaning more to the Zuhair Murad Fall 2017 Couture piece styled with Jennifer Fisher earrings.

The embellishments gives the look an air of sexy glamour which we expect at the VMAs, but the Alexandre Vauthier Fall 2017 Couture sheer lace look just screams “attention seeking”.

While some will say, “what’s the difference?” For me it has none of the finesse I see in the first look.
