Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Alicia Keys also attended the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards, held last night at the Staples Center in LA.

The singer, who performed her new song ‘Girl on Fire’, wore an Alexandre Vauthier gown. You may remember that she wore a dress by the same designer to the Grammys too.

On that occasion it was a hit; this time, not so much.

Her grey silk one-sleeve dress with a thigh-high slit wasn’t my favourite look at this event. The look would’ve been much improved had it been in a different material and sleeveless.

What could’ve been a dramatic BDOTW-worthy gown just falls flat. For someone who was voted Best Dressed by Vanity Fair, she let her voters downs.

Statement earrings, Gucci sandals and Loree Rodkin rings completed her look.

The only thing I like is her brunette bob.

Rashida Jones also took to the red carpet for the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards held at the Staples Center in LA on Thursday evening.

The ‘Park and Recreation’ actress got into the spirit of the event by wearing a sexy Narciso Rodriguez Resort 2013 leather dress with a plunging neckline.

She accessorized with Giuseppe Zanotti Design black crystal booties and emerald Graziela earrings which added a pop of colour to her look along with her red nail polish.

A slicked-back side-parted do and kohl-rimmed eyes completed Rashida’s look which is a step out of her comfort zone.

Holland Roden was the host of the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards pre-show on Thursday evening at the Staples Center in LA.

The ‘Teen Wolf’ star looked pretty wearing a Pamella Roland Fall 2012 dress.

Her taupe dress with a fully beaded tulle overlay was styled with Giuseppe Zanotti peep-toe slingbacks and Neil Lane jewels.

A retro bouffant updo with face-framing tendrils, smoky eyes and a nude lip completed her look.

This 60s retro look was perfect for the young star.

Rita Ora’s second look was much improved from her red-carpet appearance at the 2012 MTV Music Video Awards on Thursday evening.

The British singer took to the stage to present an award to Chris Brown wearing a Stéphane Rolland Fall 2012 Couture gown.

I’m glad that someone other than Cheryl Cole is wearing a look by this very talented designer, and that the first person to wear this collection wasn’t Kim Kardashian.

Her white crepe gown with silicone white slices on the shoulders and a tan leather harness is one of Rita’s most elegant looks to date.

Elegant, while still maintaining her edge.

The white arm-warmers from the runway completed her look.

Zoe Saldana attended the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards on Thursday evening, held at the Staples Center in LA.

She wore a Salvatore Ferragamo Resort 2013 dress.

Her figure-hugging peach fringed dress was paired with Ferragamo eggplant suede booties from the Fall 2012 collection.

Ludivine earrings and rings by Kathy Rose Karma El Khalil completed her look.

Zoe may be missing a clutch to lift this look, but it’s her hair which is my least favourite part.

The messy wavy look appears to be rushed and unfinished for the usually inch-perfect star.

You can buy Zoe’s Ferragamo sandals from Luisa via Roma and Bloomingdale’s.

It wasn’t only Miley Cyrus who was debuting a new hairstyle on the red carpet at the 2012 MTV Music Video Awards on Thursday evening; Rihanna did too.

The singer, who won video of the year for her hit ‘We Found Love’, wore an Adam Selman white custom-made dress.

I haven’t seen much of the designer’s work, but from what I have seen, the range is very limited.

This is the second custom look Rihanna has worn by the designer which was white and had a knotted detail. The only significant difference on this occasion is the higher neckline.

Neil Lane jewels, Jacquie Aich rings, nude Manolo Blahnik sandals and a beautiful red lip colour completed her look.

Like Katy Perry, Rihanna went for glamour over the shock factor. Thankfully.
