GQ Men Of The Year Awards Menswear Round Up

GQ 1

Excluding Eddie Redmayne, the GQ Men Of The Year Awards held at The Royal Opera House in London yesterday evening was awash with handsome men in dark suits.

Justin Timberlake (in Tom Ford) and Pharrell Williams (in Lanvin) both opted for textured suits with bow ties jazzing up the traditional tux, while David Gandy kept it simple and classic in his Henry Poole & Co. bespoke three-piece suit.

Alexa Chung In Carven – GQ Men of the Year Awards

Alexa Chung In Carven - GQ Men of the Year Awards

Alexa Chung took to the red carpet at The Royal Opera House in London this evening for the 2013 GQ Men Of The Year Awards.

The British star wore a Carven Fall 2013 long-sleeved metallic faille top and matching skirt in a light-blue hue, which she disappointingly, but not surprisingly, styled with black pumps.

My favourite part of this look is her Chanel Perspex chain-accented clutch in the shape of a Chanel No. 5 bottle from the Resort 2014 collection.

Normally one to scream for a pop of colour, I think the red lips are too stark for this look on this occasion.

Do you agree?

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley joined many celebs on the red carpet at The Royal Opera House in London this evening for the 2013 GQ Men Of The Year Awards.

The Versace Fall 2013 collection wasn’t my favourite, with far too many PVC dresses for my personal tastes, but I have to say Rosie is selling this form-fitting white PVC dress with thin metallic straps to me.

That could have a lot to do with the simple styling of this look: stripping back the runway OTT-ness and presenting a cleaner, fresher look, with python Louboutins and flawless makeup rounding off the look.

Does Rosie manage to sell this white PVC dress to you?

Pixie Lott In Christian Dior – GQ Men of the Year Awards

Pixie Lott In Christian Dior - GQ Men of the Year Awards

Pixie Lott was also at the GQ Men of the Year Awards, hosted tonight at The Royal Opera House in London.

Not ready to kiss summer goodbye, the British songstress gave us another glimpse at the Christian Dior Spring 2013 collection with this micro-dress. The white lapel-influenced top was overlaid with a lavender-purple iridescent skirt.

Although her shoes are also by Dior, they seemed quite contrary to the effervescent look, treading into heavy, non-complementary territory. I had the same sensation with her mini-clutch.

A bouffant-inspire half-up, half-down ‘do and heavy kohl-rimmed eyes also didn’t play as nicely with the dress, which was ultimately compromised by the styling.

You may remember Sun Li wore this frock earlier this year, to arguably much better effect.
