GQ Men Of The Year Awards Menswear Roundup

GQ Men1

Even though the girls grabbed plenty of stares at the GQ Men of the Year Awards, hosted in association with Hugo Boss at The Royal Opera House in London, England on Tuesday (September 2), the evening was about the guys, after all. Many in the handsome bunch were naturally dressed to impress.

Douglas Booth: Rather appropriately attired in a bespoke BOSS Made to Measure suit to accept his Hugo Boss Most Stylish Man award, the actor didn’t leave anyone guessing as to his sartorial cred. He was as charming as ever in this navy-blue number. The perfect bow tie was my favourite part—the icing on the cake.

Dan Stevens: The British actor and one of the evening’s presenters wore a Dior Homme Prussian blue slim, shawl-collar tuxedo with a white cotton wing-tip tuxedo shirt and black patent leather derbies. The colour of the suit was obviously selected to bring out his intense baby-blue gaze, which helped detract from the fact that the black satin bow tie was rather oversized.

Benedict Cumberbatch: The Actor of the Year winner took a monochromatic approach in an all-black three-piece Spencer Hart suit and tie. He could have done better for his big night.

Rita Ora In Nicholas Oakwell Couture – GQ Men Of The Year After-Party

Rita Ora In Nicholas Oakwell Couture - GQ Men Of The Year After-Party

Rita Ora swapped the Zuhair Murad Couture gown she wore on the red carpet for the GQ Men Of The Year Awards on Monday (September 2) in London, England for something just as sparkly for the after-party.

Opting for a Nicholas Oakwell Couture plunging jumpsuit with shimmering fringed detailing all over, this look spells party piece.

In an attempt to distract you from said plunge, Rita added a silver pendant necklace to the look, with further styling coming from her metallic-silver pumps and selection of rings.

While I believe many will see this as a huge step down from her gown, I love three things about this look: the retro vibe, sultry appeal and lack of red lip colour.

Amber Le Bon & Yasmin Le Bon In Temperley London – 2014 GQ Men of the Year Awards

GQ Men Of The Year Awards - Red Carpet Arrivals

The genetically-blessed Le Bons took to the red carpet for the 2014 GQ Men of the Year Awards held at The Royal Opera House on Tuesday (September 2) in London, England looking more like sisters than daughter and mother.

Amber Le Bon: The model wore a Temperley London Fall 2014 silk gown with a soft and ethereal silhouette strikingly embroidered with folk-inspired florals. I love the addition of the punchy pink clutch and the neutral makeup to complement the gown.

Yasmin Le Bon: The supermodel mum also wore Temperley London. While her top and skirt are from the Spring 2014 collection, the mood was darker and more Fall-like as her alluring fil coupé look was in a rich magenta hue. Rendered with a romantic floral pattern, this is such an gorgeous look for Yasmin.

This isn’t a case of who looks better for me. Both ladies look very sophisticated and elegant – something that was lacking at this event – in their contrasting looks which make red carpet dressing seem deceptively easy.

Charlotte Dellal also shimmied down the red carpet at the 2014 GQ Men Of The Year Awards held at the Royal Opera House on Tuesday (September 2) in London, England.

The Charlotte Olympia founder and creative director opted for an Alessandra Rich Spring 2014 off-the shoulder dress.

Her contemporary, elegant dress which marries whimsical length with a fiery red hue is rendered with delicate lace, ruffles and a layered star-print skirt.

Styled with her own accessorizes, her blonde hair was teased into her signature retro waves, with a dewy glow and bold red lip rounding out her look.
