Anna Kendrick In Monique Lhuillier – 2014 Directors Guild Of America Awards

Anna Kendrick In Monique Lhuillier - 2014 Directors Guild Of America Awards

Anna Kendrick added a pop of colour to the red carpet of the 66th Annual Directors Guild of America Awards on Saturday evening (January 25) held at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza, California.

Opting to wear a bright turquoise Monique Lhuillier Resort 2014 dress for the evening, Anna further cemented blue as the stand-out colour of this awards season.

She clearly has the figure and confidence for more dresses, but this to me still falls a little flat.

The necklace is too classic and understated so a pair of statement drop earring would have been much more fitting. And although I like the bow detail of Anna’s Christina Louboutin shoe boots, I really think that a pair of strappy sandals would have been a much stronger and striking choice.

These just a little too heavy for such a flirty dress, do you agree?

Kerry Washington In Oscar de la Renta – 2014 Directors Guild Of America Awards

Kerry Washington In Oscar de la Renta - 2014 Directors Guild Of America Awards

Kerry Washington attended the 66th Annual Directors Guild of America Awards held last night (January 25) at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza, California.

Having failed to excite in Prada at the 2014 SAG Awards, Kerry chose a billowing Oscar de la Renta Spring 2014 white tulle daisy cotton guipure embroidered dress for the occasion.

The ultra-pretty trapeze dress which concealed Kerry’s bump was styled with a pair of killer PVC Christian Louboutin ‘Bollywood Boulevard’ heels with embellished detailing helped push this pretty dress into a more glamorous direction.

A simple Smythson ‘Soho Diary’ clutch, Martin Katz jewels and sleek tresses kept the look paired back and enabled the dress to become the stand-out of the night.

Kerry is really mixing thing up when it comes to red carpet dressing. Do you think she is leading the way in maternity dressing with her directional choices?

Helen Hunt In Talbot Runhof – 2013 DGA Awards

Helen Hunt In Talbot Runhof S13 - 2013 DGA Awards

While some stars cut things short in abbreviated cocktail frocks at the 2013 Directors Guild of America Awards, Helen Hunt went long when she walked the red carpet yesterday evening at The Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland in California.

The actress wore a floor-grazing Talbot Runhof Spring 2013 gown.

This one-shoulder silhouette has become a bit generic, as we’ve seen it on so many red-carpet occasions. The shape was flattering, though.

Done in black, the shade was safe and sophisticated, of course. But I would have rather seen Helen in a vibrant hue like the electric blue from the runway.

An Edie Parker clutch and side-swept waves completed the look.

Anne Hathaway In Valentino Couture – 2013 DGA Awards

oAnne Hathaway In Valentino Couture - 201 DGA Awards‘Les Miserables’ actress Anne Hathaway supported the film’s nominated director Tom Hooper at the 2013 DGA Awards last night at The Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland in California.

She actually found inspiration from a few seasons ago, selecting a regal, intricately patterned look from Valentino’s Fall 2012 Couture runway.

Her pixie cut (and the dress’s pockets) added some fresh edge to the romantically rich, yet rather dense and severe, multicolored brocade.

Casadei shoes were vegan, but uninspiring, and Cartier sparkle completed the look.

Lena Dunham In Thakoon – 2013 DGA Awards

Lena Dunham In Thakoon - 2013 DGA Awards‘Girls’ millennial director/actress Lena Dunham is definitely having her time in the popularity spotlight; she walked another red carpet and picked up another trophy at last night’s 2013 Directors Guild of America Awards, hosted at The Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland in Los Angeles, California.

I just wish she was dressing better for the occasion.

Although she wore a custom Thakoon, the fit of the strapless satin creation was unkempt and daresay sloppy. And the sash-like appendage in the back was just strange.

While it was nice to see Lena in a bright hue and the frock embraced spring’s obsession with color blocking, the cloying magenta and red hues clashed.

Or maybe I was just too blinded by the poor fit, or those distracting tattoos, or even the nude Jimmy Choo ‘Crown’ peep-toes that were a boring-at-best afterthought.

Perhaps some jewelry may have helped make this a better equation.

You can buy Lena’s Jimmy Choo ‘Crown’ peep-toes from Jimmy Choo US, Bergdorf Goodman and Saks.com.
