Astrid Berges-Frisbey In Chanel – Deauville Film Festival Premieres & Closing Ceremony

Astrid Berges-Frisbey In Chanel - Deauville Film Festival Premieres & Closing Ceremony

If you were checking in this weekend, you’ll know that both Venice and Deauville Film Festival came to a close.

Astrid Berges-Frisbey, one of the Chanel ambassadors, attended both the ‘Killing Season’ premiere and the ‘Snowpierce’ premiere which closed the Deauville Film Festival.

‘Killing Season’ premiere: On Friday, she kept it very casual and laidback wearing a Chanel Fall 2013 look featuring a black tweed skirt with a fine-knit sweater, with Chanel grey-and-black pumps completing her look. Even though I respect her decision not to go all out as it wasn’t her premiere, this effort falls well below par for my liking.

‘Snowpierce’ premiere: Which is why I am delighted she had a second chance to make an impression at the ‘Snowpierce’ premiere, where she donned an enchanting Chanel Pre-Fall 2013 off-white wool-lace gown, which is a perfect look for the transitional season. Usually her purposely messy tresses bother me, but they add a lot of character to the look on this occasion.

What is to be appreciated here is how each look has been stripped back and made more wearable from the runway version.

Lou Doillon In Saint Laurent – ‘Snowpierce’ Premiere and Deauville American Film Festival Closing Ceremony

Lou Doillon joined Melanie Bernier and Clotilde Courau at the ‘Snowpierce’ premiere and Deauville American Film Festival Closing Ceremony, hosted on Saturday in France.

The French model-actress, who has worn Saint Laurent exclusively during the festival, strutted out another unsurprisingly black look from the design house. She pared down the Spring 2013 ‘Le Smoking’ floor-grazing gown by skipping the bolder door-knocker pendant necklace and floppy hat that took to the runway.

If you have are experiencing déjà vu, it’s because British model Daisy Lowe also wore this chiffon design just last week—except in an arguably less tasteful manner.

Despite the boudoir quality of the gown, Lou’s rocker edge, and her messy yet modish flair, still came through loud and clear, as she finished the look with barely styled, ombre waves and minimal makeup.

Melanie Bernier In Elie Saab – ‘Snowpierce’ Premiere and Deauville American Film Festival Closing Ceremony

Like Clotilde Courau, Melanie Bernier also brought a bolt of sartorial electricity to the ‘Snowpierce’ premiere and Deauville American Film Festival Closing Ceremony in France on Saturday night.

The French actress glided through the proceedings in a bright cerulean-blue dress from red-carpet regular, Elie Saab.

The Spring 2013 confection, with a nude-and-blue lace bodice and horizontally paneled ball-gown skirt, appeared to be lined—unlike the more sheer incarnation that took to the runway.

But the lining didn’t diminish the glamorous effect, nor did her styling that included a metallic, soft gold Jimmy Choo ‘Candy’ clutch, along with wavy, romantic tresses and a magenta-pink lip.

Clotilde Courau In Christian Dior – ‘Snowpierce’ Premiere and Deauville American Film Festival Closing Ceremony

Clotilde Courau In Christian Dior - 'Snowpierce' Premiere and Deauville American Film Festival Closing Ceremony

Clotilde Courau attended the ‘Snowpierce’ premiere and closing ceremony of the 39th Deauville American Film Festival in France yesterday evening.

J’adore the electrifying orange and pink shades of her Christian Dior mullet dress and the Resort 2014 multi-colour pumps which add yet more flare.

My issue is the white Dior envelope clutch.

It’s too damn big and overpowers her look which is no mean feat considering the bright colours of her frock.

Tilda Swinton In Lanvin – ‘Snowpierce’ Deauville America Film Festival Premiere & Photocall

Tilda Swinton In Lanvin - 'Snowpierce' Deauville America Film Festival Premiere & Photocall

Three film festivals were taking place yesterday: Venice, Toronto and Deauville.

Tilda Swinton took to the red carpet for the Deauville American Film Festival premiere of ‘Snowpierce’, which also served as the closing ceremony yesterday evening.

The British actress is one of my faves. Some of you think this is blind love, but on this occasion I couldn’t bring myself to love this silver Lanvin one-shoulder liquid duchess satin gown.

It has to be one of the most unflattering pieces she has ever worn as it makes her appear wider than she is.

While her black pumps are barely seen, they are far too heavy for the look.

The only thing I really like here is the hair.

Earlier in the day for the photocall she wore an orange coat as a dress. This is more like the Tilda I know and love, especially with the unexpected pairing with baby-blue suede pumps with her citrus hued coat.

Lou Doillon In Saint Laurent – Deauville American Film Festival

Lou Doillon In Saint Laurent - Deauville American Film Festival

Lou Doillon has been showing a lot of label love to Saint Laurent while taking to the red carpet during Deauville American Film Festival.

Opening ceremony: The French model and actress – who always looks slightly dishevelled yet chic at the same time – wore a pretty black v-neck dress with a crystal-embellished panel and a black leather bow accent, which provided the perfect mix of sexy and sweet. A Chanel clutch and Saint Laurent ‘Escarpins’ patent-leather pumps completed the head-to-toe black look.

‘Blue Jasmine’ premiere: In no danger of upstaging Cate Blanchett, Lou opted to wear another Saint Laurent LBD; this time the frock was strapless and the look was void of any dress-enhancing accessories.

I think it goes without saying that the first look was my favourite of the two.
