Daisy Ridley In Oscar de la Renta – 2017 Met Gala

Daisy Ridley enjoyed her walk down the blue carpet of the 2017 Met Gala on Monday (May 1) as a first timer at the annual affair.

The ‘Star Wars’ actress wore a custom Oscar de la Renta gown featuring a tiered, high/low hemline with Nirav Modi jewels and ankle-strap pumps.

I love how both perfectly elegant and perfectly modern this gown is, and Daisy is the perfect person to bring it to life. It is definitely a very light take on the night’s theme, but it’s fresh and fun, and I love it.

Perhaps my favorite part about this look is that Daisy is hardly recognizable for me. I love it when stars embrace makeup for how truly transformative it can be, and that’s exactly with Daisy and her makeup artist did. That modern cat eye and the ultra sleek (and Asian-inspired) updo really change up her typical look, and it’s a lovely beauty pairing for the gown.

Sophie Turner In Louis Vuitton – 2017 Met Gala

‘Game of Thrones’ star Sophie Turner attended the 2017 Met Gala on Monday (May 1) in New York City.

As we’d expect, she was dressed in a Louis Vuitton gown. And, given its lace applique motif, it looks to be inspired by designer Nicolas Ghesquière’s Fall 2017 collection for the label.

There is something quite endearing in the soft elegance of the dress and the feminine ruffle of the shoulder trains that floated behind her—an LV look without a hint of try-hard.

Yet, it likely won’t make the most memorable list of the night, as it’s neither particularly avant-garde nor dramatic.

Nevertheless, it doesn’t take away from the fact that Sophie was lovely with her swept-back locks and an ear cuff for a few fashion-forward bonus points.

La La Anthony In Thai Nguyen Atelier – 2017 Met Gala

Lala Anthony took a turn on the blue carpet of the 2017 Met Gala on Monday (May 1).

The television personality wore a peek-a-boo, custom Thai Nguyen Atelier gown with black diamond jewels.

While Lala’s look is definitely a striking and bold take on the night’s theme, I do worry that in a night of so much creativity and grandeur that Lala’s look will get lost in the mix.

Nevertheless, she looks stunning, and her skin is absolutely flawless.

Priyanka Chopra In Ralph Lauren Collection – 2017 Met Gala

Priyanka Chopra also showed the sculptural power of tailoring at the 2017 Met Gala on Monday (May 1) in New York City.

Combining the best of both worlds—outerwear and evening wear—the ‘Quantico’ actress swept onto the scene in a Ralph Lauren Collection trench coat gown.

An otherworldly, sci-fi influence came by way of her galactic silver earrings and metallic makeup, selected no doubt to up the glam, avant-garde factor—especially against the heavier punk finish of the black platform booties.

But, ultimately, it was the architectural collar and the impossibly long train that sold the look to me—plus Priyanka’s power stance.

Lily Collins In Giambattisa Valli Couture – 2017 Met Gala

Lily Collins walked the blue carpet of the 2017 Met Gala in New York City Monday (May 1).

The actress and fashion lover wore a two-toned Giambattisa Valli couture gown from the Fall 2016 collection.

Lily is nothing if not adventurous, and as usual, her creativity and willingness to take fashion risks has paid off. This color-blocked look is creative and eye-catching, and I’m completely smitten with the billowy skirt. Is anyone else craving cotton candy right about now?

Lily’s bob is Rei Kawakubo-inspired, tying her look into the theme, and it along with her lipstick and manicure add a fun edge to a ladylike gown.

I love how Lily somehow always manages to look supremely feminine, even while wearing black lipstick!

So let’s hear it: Are you as fond of this look as I am?

Claire Danes In Monse – 2017 Met Gala

Claire Danes also stepped out early at the 2017 Met Gala on Monday (May 1) in New York City, showing off a perfect indication of why pants might have a moment at this year’s gala.

The white shirting of this Monse Fall 2017 ensemble is a signature of the label.

But I love how designers Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim took the deconstructed, pieced-together and grommet-laced blouse to the next level for Claire with even more defined sculptural ruffles and the addition of a long train.

The top was nearly a gown in and of itself, with the slim black pants playing a subtle supporting role.

Her sleek bun, accessorised by arrow-shaped hair jewelry, provided a necessary sleek finish to the rebelliously classic ensemble that turned the standard-issue white button-down and black trousers on its head.
