Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

The men have been making the rounds over the past few days, with the 2017 CFDA Fashion Awards, premieres, and more all providing reason for them to hit the red carpet.

Matt Bomer: An army-green suit is not one we see on the daily. So, this Todd Snyder ensemble at the CFDA Fashion Awards really caught my eye—especially with the contrasting, tuxedo racing stripes down the side. It was a clever juxtaposition of formal-wear with a sportier vibe in the cropped pants and socks-less loafers. But, I do wish the pants had been pressed.

Tom Cruise: Tom joined Sofia Boutella and Annabelle Wallis for the premiere of ‘The Mummy’ in Mexico City, where he wore an Ermenegildo Zegna Made to Measure three-piece suit. Sure, he looked handsome. But, with a Made to Measure suit, I would have expected a more precise, polished fit as the fabric seemed to crease and pull at various places here.

Donald Glover: Donald was at the Atlanta For Your Consideration screening in New York City, where he wore a Gucci ‘Donald Duck’ cardigan for our consideration. I actually found myself liking the playful, cartoonish spirit. I would have opted for black pants or denim jeans as opposed to these dark navy trousers as they seemed to be the odd man out.

Models @ The 2017 CFDA Fashion Awards

It was all cheekbones and centre-partings as models descended on the 2017 CFDA Fashion Awards on Monday (June 5) in New York City.

Bella Hadid: The model is a fan of flashing flesh but kept it sophisticated in this blazer-style dress from Off-White Fall 2017. Top marks for the flared sleeves and retro full fringe. We’ll ignore the pale pink lunch bag style clutch.

Maye Musk: I do love the humour and personality in this Rosie Assoulin Spring 2017 dress. It’s unashamedly extroverted and doesn’t apologise for its bling accessories courtesy of Atelier Swarovski Fine Jewelry.

Karen Elson: Ah, red and green a hallowed combination that almost never goes wrong. Unfortunately, the tried and tested combo falls short here. The Anna Sui Fall 2017 dress is a confusing array of frills, draping, and puff sleeves. Combined with heavy shoes, this look is overwhelmingly bad.

2017 CFDA Fashion Awards Red Carpet Roundup

A number of stars put their best fashionable foot forwards on Monday (June 5) at the 2017 CFDA Fashion Awards red carpet.

Jamie Alexander: I love the armour-like details on this Marc Bouwer dress, particularly the gorgeous sleeves. Jamie’s up-do looks suitably fierce, as are the beautiful Jennifer Meyer earrings, which drop like swords. The Giuseppe Zanotti sandals and gold clutch are suitably subtle too.

Meg Ryan: Understated yet opulent Meg’s Christian Siriano gown flowed perfectly. As effortless as this look was it risked being a tad vanilla. Monique Péan jewels did little to save the look.

Praya Lundberg In Angelys Balek – 2017 CFDA Fashion Awards

Fresh from Cannes Film Festival, Praya Lundberg was back on the red carpet for the 2017 CFDA Fashion Awards on Monday (June 5).

The model and UN Goodwill ambassador opted for a strong, feminine silhouette in this Angelys Balek gold gown with a daring split which is built on the retro aesthetic.

Some might not be too enamoured by the gown itself, but paired with the Atelier Swarovski by Jason Wu mosaic neckpiece and large bangle, this look is simply breath-taking.

You may remember that Chrissy Teigen wore this same dress back in April.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen in The Row – 2017 CFDA Fashion Awards

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were in New York City on Monday (June 5) to attend the 2017 CFDA Fashion Awards, where they were nominated for Womenswear Designer of the Year and Accessories Designer of the Year.

Fittingly they both wore their line, The Row. Ashley wore a sweeping black button-down coat whilst Mary-Kate opted for an over-sized shirt, pant combo.

Sticking with their classic colour palette of neutrals and black and white, the fashionistas showed just how far they’ve come. Gone are the days of bohemian overload, the girls have refined their style and given it a luxe edge.

Whilst I wasn’t convinced by Ashley’s formless coat/dress, Mary-Kate’s look was utterly chic. The oversized menswear-inspired shirt, with exaggerated cuffs, looked crisp when paired with wide-leg navy pants.

I loved Ashley’s wine-coloured clutch, but Mary-Kate’s was uninspired.

Their other styling choices were better. Beachy undone waves looked feminine and effortless; a beautiful contrast with their masculine looks.

Priyanka Chopra In Michael Kors Collection – 2017 CFDA Fashion Awards

Fresh from her Berlin ‘Baywatch’ promo tour, Priyanka Chopra was back on the red carpet for the 2017 CFDA Fashion Awards on Monday (June 5).

The actress looked sensational in her custom-made Michael Kors Collection dress. The sensuous ensemble worked perfectly with the black python Michael Kors ‘Smith’ sandals and merlot lipstick.

A black belt cinched the waist to create the most enviable silhouette. The length of the dress, plunging neckline, and sequin embellishments all added some youth and fun to what could have been a severe look.

Cohesive from head to toe, this look was a masterclass in how to make an ensemble feminine and sexy, without being vampy.

Chloe Sevigny In Proenza Schouler – 2017 CFDA Fashion Awards

Chloe Sevigny kept it monochrome at the 2017 CFDA Fashion Awards on Monday (June 5) in New York City.

Her custom black and white lacquered dress by Proenza Schouler was in-keeping with the ‘American Horror Story’ actress’s edgy modern style.

The Proenza Schouler cuff was the perfect accompaniment for the lace effect dress and cropped bib-style top.

I love the ensembles futuristic touches, like the silver clutch. These details were grounded by the choice of simple strappy sandal and high bun.

Black and white, futuristic and classic, the look was a harmonious balance and blend of styles and colours.
